All decorations edible and made out of gumpaste. This cake was to celebrate a family's escape from communist Czechosloviakia 40 years ago. They immigrated to US. Some Czechoslovakia items to note on the cake are the Astronomical Clock in Prague, Old Town Square in Prague, Charles Bridge, Soviet tank, barbed wire, Czech painted Easter eggs, traditional Czech costume or dress.

The Center for American Progress hosted a panel discussion with elected officials and litigators at the center of this debate to discuss their views on local immigration ordinances, the impact they are having on communities of color, and the implications local ordinances present for the national immigration debate.

Cathedral City rally protesting Trump administration’s policy of separating children from their parents for long periods as part of a sever crackdown on asylum and immigration processing. Rather than entering Mexico through a secured area, this trailer, which is just off the main road in Boquillas (close to a mile from the border), is where you report. If you feel like it, apparently. I had to mention it to my "guide", the fellow who drove me from the Rio Grande to town.

 

However, as opposed to immigration on the US side, which is handled by phone, there's a real, live person here. If he shows up for work, anyway. On this day, I was told that the internet was down, so the agent didn't come to work. Not sure what that has to do with looking at my passport and the other official things the customs people do, but that's what I was told. I guess Mexico's not quite as worried about who's coming in as we are on the other side.

Melbourne's Immigration Museum opened in November 1998 with the purpose of exploring and celebrating Australia's collective immigration history and experience. The museum is located on Flinders Street in Old Customs House, which was built in two phases between 1850 and 1876.
