I have been wanted to do a motorway light trail for a long time now and wanted to do it around the blue hour…when I left my house the skies where clear but the time I got to the bridge the clouds had came out to say hello…I have tried to wait for another and when I do get a clear sky I will try again, It also helps if you go on a today when the roads are busy as you will get cars in each lane…was surprised to see that not many were using the right light on both sides…

 

I increased the clarity all the way up and increased the vibrance a little, bought the shadows down and highlights too and finally added some vignetting in lightrooms.

I wanted to take some Christmas pictures and use various props in my pictures. The first one was this cheap little hat that I bought from my local supermarket.

 

I took it out with me on our group meetup around London and the first opportunity that presented it self to use that hat, was at Leadenhall Market. As soon as I walked into the middle I was faced with this beautiful tall three covered in lights.

 

I tried to put my hat on the floor but it would not stand up, so I had to improvise. I searched my bag and pulled out my little light stand placed it on the floor and slipped the hat over it…simples!!!...lol

 

Due to the heavy amount of lights in there, when I got home and looked on the screen the picture was very yellow and my red hat looked very orange, I think that was due to the tungsten lights. But that was a simple fix and just changed the white balance to daylight.

 

I used the saturation brush and brought the saturation down a little and used the erase brush to bring back the red, then increased the vibrance a little just to bring the colour out a little and have the red stand out a little more. At this point I felt that there was something missing from the picture, so I took it in to PS and added a few stars just to give it a little bit more of a Christmas feel. I finally added a little bit of vignetting back in LR.

I thought when I went back to work after the new my work load would grow as the weeks went on, but it has been full on ever since I went back and has left me mentally exhausted!!!

 

There are only two things that tend to help my relax and that creating chaos and having my ears played with (don’t ask).

 

Mr. Searle gave me some fireworks for my birthday, I had a few roman candles and sparklers left and lots of wire wool, so I thought to myself I am going to let this all out and use everything in one go.

 

I dragged my friend and his wife out, a massive thank you to them for coming out and went to a local viaduct which has a tunnel at one end.

 

I took my stick and tape two roman candles at one and the 'nitro' roman candles which Mr Searle gave me to the other end. I placed the wire wool on the floor ready to go and off I went. I set the Nitro candles off first they are quite small and did not make such a big impact in the big tunnel. Once that was done I turned around so the camera would not pick up me lighting the candles, flipped the stick around and set the colour candles off. Still with my back to the camera I lit the wire wool and begun to spin. Once that was done I ran towards my friends and got them to run around with the sparklers.

 

Did not do much in LR, just increased the highlights, exposure and clarity.

One thing I have learnt about working in a studio is that if you get your preparation right and communicate well with everyone, then not only do you get your shot quicker but things run smoothly too. I was so excited about doing this shoot and I had prepared for everything but forgot about the clothing, however Ashleigh being the professional that she is had brought some change of clothing with her that was suited for what we were doing.

 

Going through the colours that I was using in the shot, the pink backdrop along with the blue and pink balloons we decided that white would be best. I had already got the shot I wanted so we were just messing around and being silly with the balloons and got this one. I really liked it because she just looks really cute, girly with a touch of innocence. One thing I did notice and this was not till I was editing the pictures that her blues eyes and pink lips go really well with the rest of the colours being used.

 

Not much in post, brought the exposure down a little, increased sharpness and vibrance. I then cropped a little, went over the body with the softness tool in lightrooms. Her face was slightly dark so I used and exposure brush and increased the light abit.

 

Looking back at the picture and maybe you guys can help me on this but do you think the blue balloon should be in the other hand and reason for this that it breaks from the background. So background is pink, then blue balloon then pink balloon???????

I am a big barbecue fan, every chance I get no matter then weather I will get the barbecue and light it up!!!! and there is nothing like coming home from work and having a barbecue, perfect way to relax.

 

Normally I light the coals and leave it to settle down and while that is happening I go off and do other things…this time I did not have anything that I could be bothered to do…So I thought I would take the camera out and see if I could have come fun. If I am honest I have never taken a picture of any flames like this before, so this was a great learning experience.

I know I am a bit crazy but can any one else see two eyes, a nose and a mouth open with what looks like a joint sticking out…lol if at the middle of the photo you can see the mouth and just a little up and to the left you can see the eyes…lol

When I walked on to this path and turned my jaw just dropped and I was left in speechless…The sun was on its way down behind me and the universe had just lit this path up beautifully.

 

The trees in this park and magnificent and when I was in there I did not feel like I was in the UK, but that is most likely due to the fact that I am a city boy and do not get into the forest as much as I should…lol

 

In post I brought down the highlights and the exposure a little, I increased the sharpness, clarity and the vibrance and finally just added a little lens vignetting in lightrooms.

I decided to use my ND filter to see what different types of effect I could get with a sunset but I did not get much of an opportunity to experiment as my battery ran out and I thought I had charged my spare but obviously I did not.

 

I managed to get two images one with the boats docked and the second was the above image with both boats out on the River Thames. (I wish I had more, because when I flick through them they produce a little sequence)

 

I did like how it came out in the camera but I wanted to slightly age the picture and go for a vintage look. However when messing around with the saturation, vibrance and temperature I came out with this. I kept this because it, for me, gave me a different feel to the picture, even though it was a sunset, it feels like sunrise and for some reason and for spilt moment I felt like this is not in London. But that is just me.

 

I also like how both boats and airplane, look like they are all heading towards he sun. And how the change in colour of the picture makes it look like sunrise rather then a sunset.

 

I did add a little bit of vignetting and increased the highlights a bit in LR.

I love planes, I love watching them take off, land and how something that is so powerful looks like it has no power, its like its effortless when they fly, just love it!!!!...

 

But lets be honest unless you can find a good spot the images are all going to be the same and after a while even I am starting to get bored…lol

 

Now I have found a little spot that has bought me a little closer but I shall go over that in the next image, but for now what could I do with something that I have done already…

 

So I thought I would try and play around with motion blur a bit more, I think this has a lot of potential for some of the images I want to take but it is baby steps for now and I am still learning on how to use it correctly.

 

In PS I took the image and added the motion blur, I took a little playing around with the angle but eventually decided to have it the same way as the body of the plane. I then used a layer mask to erase the motion blur I did not need. The problem I had here was that on the left wing there was not much blur and I was not sure how much I should take out from the tale as I could not see the left wing…Once I decided on what you see above I took it back in the lightroom and used the adjustment brush to increase the saturation around the back so the red would stand out more. I then used the spilt tone to adjust the sky colour a little and finally added a bit more sharpness to the image.

 

So what do your reckon hit or miss with the motion blur?

I sometimes I find myself in the most random places and will always see a picture and never have my camera with me (I hate carrying things when I am out). But this time I had it on me and had a quick chance to take a picture and this is what I got.

 

I had to crop in a little, just decreased the blacks and increased the clarity to bring out some definition in the clouds. and just slight increased the reds in the hue to give the sky a slight touch of red. I used the gradient tool to darken the top part of the sky as it was really bight and just slightly decreased the exposure in lightrooms.

Аїр болотний — назва цього водохліба, який обживає топкі береги річок і ставків, утворюючи зарості вузьких мечоподібних міцних листків.

 

Аїр має дуже товсте, гіллясте, біле всередині та жовтувато-буре зовні кореневище. За старих часів вважалося, що вода в тих місцях, де росте лепеха, чиста і придатна для пиття.

Аїр дуже шануємо народами південних країн, де він росте, а в середній смузі після поширення його почали використовувати як лікарську рослину.

  

Можна приготувати з кореневищ лепехи спиртову настоянку, заливши їх горілкою у співвідношенні 1:1, і вживати її по 20 крапель 2 рази на день перед їдою.

Або, розбавивши водою в пропорції 1:3, використовувати для зовнішнього застосування – полоскання, ванни обмивання голови (при лупі).

В аптеках також продається олія, яку при розведенні 1:40 з медичним спиртом використовують як настоянку.

  

Застосування

  

З висушеного кореневища лепехи можна приготувати лікувальний відвар.

Необхідно взяти 30 г подрібненої сировини на 1 л води та варити 10-15 хвилин у закритому посуді.

Приймати по 2 склянки на день при хворобах шлунково-кишкового тракту, проносі, здутті живота, зниженій секреції шлункового соку.

Цей відвар також п’ють при дискінезії жовчовивідних шляхів, апатитах, холециститах, каменях в нирках, набряках.

За допомогою кореневища лепехи можна збити печію, приймаючи порошок з нього на кінчику ножа 3 рази на день.

Крім того, кореневище можна жувати повністю у трьох запальних захворюваннях ротової порожнини, при стоматитах, під час епідемії грипу, а також для відучення від куріння.

  

Збір та заготівля сировини

  

Листя лепехи та качани квітів, розташовані в пазухах листя, можна застосовувати хіба тільки для освіження повітря в приміщеннях.

А ось його коріння використовують як лікарську сировину. Викопують їх пізно восени, вилами, з холодної води: тільки до цього часу вони набирають свою цілющу силу.

Кореневище лепехи очищають від тонкого коріння, нарізають дрібними шматками і швидко сушать при температурі 30-35 градусів, не вище.
