I recently met Laura at Hyde Park as part of this project. It was a delight getting to know her. She has been in Sydney for the last few weeks for her Studies. She is from Colombia and currently studying English. She moved here because the financial situation in Colombia is difficult. We talked about her settling in Sydney. Colombian culture and likes and dislikes and many more fun stuff.

Photography software used to edit this image: Topaz Studio plus Adobe Photoshop CC & Lightroom CC. I have really been enjoying the new Topaz Studio in my workflow as it has a lot of creative filters and cutting edge A.I. apps to enhance my images.
This is image is focused on the International Towers 1, 2 and 3 that line the waters edge at Barangaroo in Sydney, Australia. The area is a mass of construction as buildings seem to go up by the day! It's a great area to visit as all the buildings are brand new in a modern style, something I personally enjoy. It makes it a great location to do photography ;-) I took this image from across the water at Pyrmont but was over in Barangaroo earlier in the day doing some scouting for some long exposures I am planning. I was here also for the sunset shot of the towers and it was a wonderful warm toned one. You can check out that image here Sunset Image of International Towers Sydney. Timing is very important to get lighting like this in your image! Half an hour later and the sky will be a deep black and this never looks good in nightscapes. 15 minutes earlier and the sky is a very light blue with little colour in the buildings... so if you are ever out shooting a sunset it's worth waiting around for this type of lighting. It was tough on this winter's night but I came prepared!
As I mentioned in my other edit from this location, the major companies that reside in the 3 towers are PWC, KPMG and Gilbert + Tobin. So basically a lot of lawyers and tax workers!!! Oh yeah, in the tallest tower on the left you can see a red glass room on the roof?! Is there were all the PWC lawyers party??? Well I like to imagine it is :-)
This shot was taken on my Sony Zeiss 16-35mm lense at 35mm and in case you weren't aware 35mm is similar to how the human eye sees things. So vertical lines will be close to straight and those who have come across a Zeiss lens before will know how incredibly sharp and beautiful the colour tones are. The Zeiss lense pairs amazingly well with the 36MP full frame Sony A7R. It's an enjoyable experience to edit a photo like this and be in close making tonal adjustments and be able to see such detail.

Barangaroo House calmly sits on the waters edge down in cosmopolitan area of Barangaroo and is one of Sydney’s most sought after dining and bar experiences. It’s an award winning structure by the Solotel group, H&E Architects, with spectacular views of the harbour from all 3 levels of the building. It is owned by tv star Matt Moran with the executive chef being Cory Campbell. Each level offers its own experience with the lower level being a more casual open bar, the 2nd level houses the Bea contemporary Australian dining whilst above is the rooftop bar Smoke. Of interest to me is the use of dark smoked wooden cladding to create these wonderful curved timber balconies, which also function as cover from the elements. The planters hanging over the balconies actually grow edible plants for use in the restaurant. The whole design has an organic sculptural feel to it, and it will be a timeless creation on the king st wharf facade as years go by.
I did a few loops around the house exploring its shapes with my lens and this angle is what does the entire building most justice. There are some interesting close up compositions you can make using objects as foreground elements as well which would be an enjoyable project if you were doing a complete portfolio of Barangaroo House. The interiors are basked in rich leather and more textures of dark and light woods with no expense spared. This truly is how the upper class wine and dine in Sydney! Worth checking out as well if you are just up for a casual drink as the sun sets.
I purposefully shot this during sunset to get the beautiful tones in the wooden cladding, and the iconic Aussie blue skies were a perfect compliment to this. The long shadows are great as well as the actual sunset visible in the glass windows on the lower level of the building.

Another one from Bradley Head taken during sunset on weekend. Sun is bidding good bye to Sydney. The orange colour covering only half of the city looks bit unrealistic. But this is what I saw during sunset and I want to keep as original as possible :)
