“One cold day in January 2009, while I was volunteering walking dogs at the shelter, I was rescued by an Angel,” says dog mom Sarah. “She was the deaf dog in the last kennel that desperately needed out.” Sarah adopted Angel the next day. After receiving certification as a therapy dog in October 2009, Angel and Sarah have been visiting nursing home, “giving and receiving smiles...there is nothing quite as precious as a Pitty Smile!” Sarah says.
Rhys is 1 ½ years old. “This boy is N-A-U-G-H-T-Y and loves to push the boundaries,” says his dog mom, Jenn, who adds, “But when he looks at me like this, I just can't help but smile!”
Einstein is a 2-year-old Border Collie-Aussie mix. “He loves a bath...so much so, he even gives himself one sometimes (as you can see in the picture)!” says Chris, his pet parent. “I love him because he is such an awesomely smart dog (hence his name). He could (and does) learn anything I want to teach him. He just prefers Frisbee over all else!”
Lil Bee was a senior Shiba who’d been neglected most of his life. His dog mom Nancy feels fortunate to have spent the last six months of his life with him. “I knew when I adopted him that I would not have much time with him, and as hard as it was to lose him, I would do it all again,” she writes. “He was a gift and loving him and seeing the love and gratitude in his eyes made it all worth it.”
Chia loved being in the snow. "She always kept up with the big dogs!" says her dog mom, Sarah. Chia passed to the Rainbow Bridge in 2008, but lives on in her dog mom's heart.
