Scrapbook Materials: 12x12 paper, large plastic letters, cork letters, buttons, chipboard punch outs, softies, fabric paper, stamped paint chips with epoxy, cut paper, ribbon, metal clip with tab, stickers, rub-ons, brads,paintbrush, photograph.
John Olsen was an Australian artist, born here in Newcastle in 1928.
As an artist, he is famous for his unique portrayals of landscape and scenery - paintings that in my eyes, are full of energy, colour and lyricism.
In 2016, I attended the exhibition at our main art gallery, a collection of works to celebrate this talented man. The exhibition was 'John Olsen: The City's Son'.
Here we have a photograph that I took that day, (with permission/no flash) of one of his works which is a personal favourite. Titled 'Salt, Lake Eyre'.
it is an oil on linen piece, painted in 2005. 183 cm x 198.5 cm.
John sadly died in April 2023.
