This guy was very happy to be photographed, and interesting and witty to talk to!

The young and very active priest of our village recently brought up piles of sacred icons dating from the 16th to the 18th century and made the bold decision, if God permits, to slowly restore them all.

First, as was natural, the holy icon of the patron saint of our village, Saint holy virgin martyr Paraskevi, was chosen.

The short period of time in which the money was found and its rapid and at the same time very successful restoration are undoubtedly due to the parsimony of the embassies illustrated in it to the Savior Christ.

The photo is from her holy litany at the panegyrical vespers in honor of the Saint on July 25, 2020 as she managed to be present with all the new splendor in this year's celebration during which this sacred hoarding became the central icon of Η. Church of our village (Νomi of Trikala).

For 121 Pictures in 2021 #46 "Illustrate 121 using objects", this is two sets of buttons, one type representing "1" and the other type representing "2" using two buttons.

taken in the Westbottoms KCMO

For 121 Pictures in 2021 #47 "Illustrate a book title" these are serrano and Thai chiles, both red and green to go on the cover of "The Devil's Dinner, a gastronomic and cultural history of chili peppers" by Stuart Walton. I should note that his use of "chili peppers is incorrect, anything referring to the plant or the pod itself should be spelled chile. The term chili should be only used to refer to a stew making use of chiles. This was borne out by extensive research on the internet, where, as we all know, everything is correct.

Along the Colorado meander in Page, AZ, the Horseshoe Bend. If you even have a slight vertigo, like me, please stay a bit away from the edge, there is a sudden fall of several hundred feet. It was a bit windy that only added to my fear of getting blown away towards the edge. I used my tripod to get a bit more balance and to relax my fear shaken knees. But people around me were like monkeys or may be they have some hidden wings that come out if they slip as they were hanging out. All this for a cool selfie! Very irresponsible to your own life. I wonder what the tombstone might read -lost balance and fell off a cliff! Not a good way to go!

Coming back to this marvel, its a must see place if you are in or around Page. Just a small 0.75mile trail (a bit of a hike while coming back). Absolutely marvelous and will take blow your mind when you will first see it up close. While walking down towards it you will not have the faintest of an idea of what it would really looking like until you are at the edge! Its like a Taj Mahal hidden below waiting for you to find!

Hope you will like it! And be careful when you visit!

Our ”We’re Here!” theme today is Photographic terms illustrated. I enjoy shooting into the sun to see what kind of crazy lens flare and starburst effects I can get.

My guess is this suit wasn’t bought at M&S. The title is an oblique nod to Ray Bradbury.

This photo illustrates the immense wingspan of this raptor relative to its body. He is a late migrator. The photo was taken this morning, in late November. I have not seen another Osprey here for the past month.

The photo illustrates the importance of a good boat tender, in this case a hard-shelled rowing dinghy, to a cruising and live-aboard sailing vessel. In this photo, our sailing vessel, Lai Sien, is anchored out in one of the many remote and secluded coves and bays along the shores of the Sea of Cortez, a magnificent sea located between the Baja Penisula and the west coast of mainland Mexico. The dinghy is the indispensable means for transporting people, food, fresh water and supplies to and from the ship.

These are the days by the sparkling river...

This illustrates the power of digital cameras - the stars were barely visible and I had to guess the position of the pole star. I had to pause the collection of images so there is a gap in the trails but here for what it's worth is a star trail pic over the raquets court at Copped Hall, Essex, UK taken during our night photography evening this week.

This image illustrates the Bristol VRL concept to its best advantage. Placing the engine longitudinally on the offside beyond the rear axle not only simplified the driveline but also enabled a rear entrance or exit to be fitted. One downside was that a long rear-overhang was required, which wouldn't have been acceptable on shorter chassis. I suspect that there may also have been some weight distribution issues. This is a 36 foot VRL-LL (vertical rear longitudinal-engine, long low chassis), a type that was offered but not actually built. Some very similar 36-foot dual-door (front and rear) buses were built for the South African municipality of Johannesburg on the marginal higher VRL-LH chassis. The bodies for these were built locally by Bus Bodies (SA) to a very neat design with equal-length side windows. My version uses standard ECW windows bays with an awkward half-bay at the rear, as fitted to various bodies built by that concern. I've finished it as a demonstrator for the South African market, incorporating the unusual low-mounted route number characteristic of the Johannesburg fleet. (01-May-10).

Same alley as before from the other side of Center Street. Again it was the sun that caught my eye here and resulted in the click of the shutter.

This photo illustrates what direct sunlight does to the colors shown in the previous image. Taken later in the afternoon, this photo lets viewers see how the browns become predominant and the turquoise and red shades, while still there, appear subdued in the overall presentation.

Something about shady light really brings out the chromatic range in Chinle images. I've seen this at other sites, too. Chinle photographers will want to take into account the differences that shade, cloud cover, and sun angle can make.

Although this portion of the site near the mesa is predominantly brown, farther out under the brown layer there is a thick layer that is a brilliant red. None of this is visible from the nearest road (a rough 4x4 track). After driving the rutty dirt road for over a mile, you have to walk up a small hill to look out over the vast spread of color below. This Chinle outcrop is about a mile wide and 10 miles long.

Seen as we walked around Emerald Lake.
