Bronze statue of Leonardo da Vinci, looking toward the Château d’Amboise across the Loire River.
Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years in Amboise (at the Chateau du Clos Luce) and is said to be buried in the chapel of the Château d’Amboise (there is some doubt that his remains are actually there).
This statue by the Italian sculptor Amleto Cataldi (1882-1930) was presented to the French government by the Republic of San Marino in 1935. It represents Leonardo as a Greek god, although why the subject of Perseus and Medusa was chosen is not known. The sculpture was originally installed in Paris. In 1976 it was moved to its present location near the river bank on the Ile d'Or, a small island in the Loire River at Amboise. The statue faces the Château d’Amboise but at an angle from slightly upstream.

Janet is enjoying reading a book whilst sunbathing on the back of "Making waves" whilst moored in "Calanque Longue" on the Ile de Port Cros, one of the Ile d'Or on the Côte d'Azur. The naturist island of Ile du Levant and the town of Heliopolis can be seen in the background.
Video clip of large Grouper whilst scuba diving at Port Cros between Pointe du Vaisseau and Pointe de la Croix close to Gabaniere.. Janet watches the Grouper as it swims towards me appearing to be fascinated by my camera.
Port Cros is located between Iles de Porquerolles and Iles du Levant. It's the smallest of the three islands which make up the "îles d'Or" in the golf of Hyères.

(origine : fr.academic.ru/dic.nsf/frwiki/1789601)

Officially, this statue by Italian sculptor Amleto Cataldi shows Leonardo da Vinci as an ancient god. Situated on the Île d’Or, his likeness faces the Château d’Amboise, in whose one-time royal grounds da Vinci is buried. But Cataldi, whose cast the sculpture in 1923, did not identify the subject as da Vinci, nor was he ever involved in the sculpture’s eventual location in Amboise. An alternative view is that the subject is Perseus, the Ancient Greek god.

This was taken during a rare cloudy day (in this area of Provence every day is sunny blue 90% of the time). Instead of callng it a day and go home I decided to extend the tripod and compose using the menacing clouds as the background and the Provence vegetation as the foreground.
From Wikipedia:
"The île d'Or is a private island located at the east of the city of Saint-Raphaël in France, facing the Dramon cap. This small island is composed of russet rocks (porphyry) and surmounted by a tower reminiscent of the Middle Ages said to have been the inspiration for The Black Island in Hergé's The Adventures of Tintin series."
