I don't know how or why this happens. Okay, I know that ice expands and that it can destroy its container, so nice when you forget to empty your rain barrel.... perhaps this is a way for the ice while expanding to find a way out and perhaps wind also has something to do with it, but that are only a wild guesses from me...

De Uffeltermade langs de oever van de 'Oude vaart' is een laag gelegen grasland wat makkelijk blank komt te staan. Zéker de laatste tijd ! Nu haast niet te betreden; overal zak je door het ijs of weg in de prut !

Het gebied strekt zich uit tussen Havelte en Uffelte en is, door gebrek aan paden, eigenlijk niet toegankelijk. Maar vanaf de randen is het hier heerlijk vogels spotten (vaak een IJsvogel !)
