Here's another lightning shot from three days ago. It's been lightning here daily in the evening for last few days, and I was so delighted to have been able to capture this strike! It was truly awesome! This shot shows the IIT campus as seen from Hostel 12, with the lightning bolt striking precisely on the Victor Menezes Convention Center (VMCC). It was one hell of a sight.!
This is the view from my room. This is how IIT Bombay looks from my room! Almost all the buildings are hidden below the trees, there are very few that pop up through them. I just love the greenery inside our campus, feels so good!
On the left is the Sameer hill, a favorite spot for people to trek to, and get an awesome view of the whole campus.
This wall here is at the Students' Activity Centre, IIT Bombay, Mumbai. It serves as the "theme-builder" for the college's cultural, technical and entrepreneurial festivals and is painted with a different theme every December, January and March.
Entire IIT Bombay set.
I have been noticing this since only yesterday but IITB campus has a good population of lazy dogs. They seem to be everywhere. The academic area, the hostels, SAC; you name it.
Entire IIT Bombay set.
Another beautiful morning, right out of my window. Took this shot four days ago. I'm in Hyderabad now for a couple of weeks, it's holiday time at home! :-)
My previous upload, the Harry 'dragonfly' Potter shot received the most views, comments and faves yet among all my photos. I must thank you all for that. I am overwhelmed! :-)
With the Powai Lake and the Hiranandani skyline visible through the window, it made for a lovely photo. The pigeons (three of them here) made it all the more better!
Another attempt at creating an HDR image. And again, I'm not really happy with what I've got. I'm going to try a different processing workflow the next time. Photos from the archive.. this sunrise was almost a year ago! whoa, time flies...
That evening, there were hundreds of birds flying in the sky above us. I'm not intelligent enough to understand what they were up to but they looked like a clan with a plan. They scattered and disappeared minutes later but I'm sure they will come back again and do what they had planned, and that will mark their revival or rebirth! Hence the title. Very creative, I know. ;-)
Um.. There's another, simpler explanation. That's Hotel Renaissance in the background and that's birds in the sky, hence the title. Very creative, I know. :-P
...but I'm too afraid to take that leap.
Not really the sparrow's thoughts but mine. The little bird had a glorious flight the very next moment. If only I had the same wings of courage...!
How I wish I could fly. Those birds must be so lucky to be able to fly.
I am somehow reminded of these lines from the poem 'The road not taken' by Robert Frost...
"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I..
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
Project 365 | Day #3 | 2009 | Jan 3
Have resumed going out for morning walk/ jog in the beautiful IIT Bombay campus. The weather is cool enough for a pleasing walk even at 9-10am.
Update: Explored! Highest: #30 on March 01, 2009. Thanks everyone! This is great encouragement for me to keep taking better and better photos for my 365.

Love the pattern there! Awesome, isn't it?
Scientific name: Trichosanthes anguina, and sometimes Trichosanthes cucumerina.
IIT Bombay.
It's time now to bid farewell to this wonderful place. I have learned more lessons here than I have ever learned before. Will cherish each moment of my life spent here.
The position of the rising Sun gradually changes with time. These days it rises from behind the Sameer Hill here (check my previous upload). While the whole world (well, half of it, actually) basks in the early morning Sun, the IIT Bombay campus remains in the shadows, shadowed by the Sameer Hill. But not without its share of sunlight. This skyscraper brilliantly reflects some sunlight towards the campus, and I absolutely loved this beautiful sight that day. For some weeks now, this building will be our only source of early morning sunlight, hehe!
I took this shot on the same day as that of the previous shot of the rising Sun. In this photo, it's the Hiranandani skyline overlooking the Powai Lake. The forest in the foreground is inside the IITB campus.
Isn't the glittering building and its reflection in the lake a spectacular sight? To me, it sure was. ;-)

Another magical Powai lakeside sunset moment. Thanks to Kishore for alerting me about this spectacle.

I made this timelapse video almost four months back. It never occurred to my forgetful mind that I should upload it here on flickr too. So here it is, another lovely morning but this time in motion!
(Took some 230 shots in total, one shot every 8 seconds or so. I didn't have an intervalometer so I had to press the shutter release manually every time. That's the reason why the frames are not always properly aligned.)
I was very happy with the result since it was my first attempt at making a time lapse video. Hope you enjoy it.

A welding photograph in the workshop where I've been working on my Master's project. More later. Hope you're all doing great! Cheers.
The last of the lightning shots that I may be posting for now.
It's the three wings of Hostel 13 with Powai lake in the background, and the Hiranandani skyline on the far left of the photograph. It's a pretty long lightning streak up there, and to me it looks like a snake is crawling in the sky! :-)
This is the newest hostel of the campus. Those are its three wings A, B, C. And that's Powai lake and Hiranandani in the extreme background. Shot taken from H12.
Alright I've done it once more, a stitched panorama shot of the Powai Lake from five images. But this one's at a different time of the day. It's during the magic hour (or blue hour or whatever hour).
It's the Hiranandani skyline in the image. The reflection in the lake is not very prominent at this hour but at night, the lake glitters with so much light like there's gold everywhere! ;-)
The shots were taken from Hostel 13, B wing around two weeks back. Stitched in Photoshop.
This is the view at night from Hostel 13 at IIT Bombay. The Powai lake looks lovely at night, with all those reflections. You could spend your whole night just looking at it. :-)
Well, I have always been writing about how good the view from my room is. This is just another photo to prove that it's not for nothing that I keep repeating it. ;-)
This is a stitched photograph from two shots I took from my room. Isn't this just awesome?! :-D
I've not been very active on flickr lately. I'm sorry about that, I'll try to catch up with you all very soon. Thanks for everything, friends! :-)
Shot from the boat house, IIT Bombay. That's Hiranandani with its swanky buildings. And that shiny stretch of water in the middle is Powai lake.
This is where I stay. Hostel 12, IIT Bombay. That's Hotel Renaissance on the left in the backdrop and that's a portion of Powai Lake right in front of the hotel. That cone-like structure is the entrance to our mess.
This a stitched image from two photographs. Took this shot from H 14.
It's a panorama I created by stitching four images I took of the lake and its surroundings. It was my first attempt at stitching photos for a panorama. Now I really understand how they made that 71 gigapixel image, hehe.
The foreground is mostly trees which is why it's totally black there. There are forests all around, and this is the best vantage point I could get to.

Today I happened to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises I've ever seen from my room. I will upload the photos very soon. This one is from another lovely morning almost a month back. I had Sushrut's 55-250mm lens and was trying to photograph birds that morning when this beautiful white-throated kingfisher perched on a tree nearest to me! I just love that sunlit face it's got in this one.
The sun, setting over the Arabian sea. I've taken this photograph from the hilltop at IIT Bombay. It was a very clear day just before the first shower of rains and the sea was clearly visible from the hill. This is the sea near Borivali.

This is how yesterday began.. just like this.
Watching the sun rise makes me feel alive. Words can't describe that feeling.
Another of the lightning shots I took few days back. There's few more lightning shots I may post in the days to come. :-)
Another lightning quick upload. My Master's thesis defense is in about ten days from today. Busy times, whew! Will catch up with your photostream updates very soon, friends! Cheeeeerssss!!! :-)
My first such high speed photograph.! Not really that 'high speed' but I'm happy. :-D And yes, just three days left for my thesis defense. I know I should focus on my work for the moment, but all I needed here was 1/1600 of a second. It's okay, right? ;-)
Oh and about the title, doesn't it look like the water is performing a ballet of sorts? That, or maybe I'm mad already. :-P Cheers!
