Photo taken in a room of former Hotel Igman.
The hotel was built on Mount Ingman for the Winter Olympic Games held in Sarajevo in 1984. During the Balkan wars this hotel was completely devastated.
Igman hotel, constructed in preparation for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, destroyed during the Bosnian War in 1992-1995.
Hotel Igman was designed by architect Ahmed Dzuvic in the early 80’s. It was built in Mt.Ingman for the Winter Olympic Games held in Sarajevo in 1984.
The hotel is located at an elevation of 1000 meters. Laying on a surface of 5102 square meters, it had 172 guest rooms, a restaurant, kitchen, cinema and a swimming pool.
The hotel was destroyed in a fire in 1993, during the war in Bosnia.

The natural monument, Vrelo Bosne, is spread out over 603 hectares at the foot of Mount Igman in Ilidža, about 15 kilometers from the center of Sarajevo.
As it is the source of the Bosna River, with lovely lakes full of fish and swans and small green islands, and since temperatures in summer are several degrees lower here than in Sarajevo, Vrelo Bosne has been a favorite outing destination for Sarajevans for the past 100 years.
This area serves as a habitat for various plant communities and animal species, some of which are endemic. Six streams from the Vrelo Bosne source area flow into the Mala Bosna watercourse, which is home to indigenous varieties of river trout.
Vrelo Bosne is also an area which contains the main source for Sarajevo’s “Bačevo” drinking water.
Vrelo Bosne is fenced in and well maintained. There are benches, covered rest areas, play areas for children and a restaurant in the center of the complex which serves a local specialty – fresh river trout.

In summer 2012 I tried to take some photos of the viaduct of Tarcin on the Sarajevo – Ploče line.
Having arrieved there by car I could not find a way up on the hill to came to the photo-location. I asked somebody who lived there and he told me that there is a little, arduous path up there. I had my full equipment with me so I decided to come back next year with only a backpack and a little tripod. When I went back a few meters a mother with her two sons and three cows passed my way. And I saw how they climbed a path directly near a pier of the viaduct. So I said if cows can go up there I will also make it. Following the cows, taking care not to step in their droppings I came to a really nice area to take some pictures. The mother returned and the boys and cows were with me on this little Bosnian alp. After two hours their mother returned and brought this whole group home. I stood there for a while waiting for some freight train which didn´t come. But I am still satisfied with the results of this afternoon.
The mountain in the dust on the left side is the “Igman”, 1502 meters high. There were hard battles during the Bosnian war.
