Jerudong International School (JIS) Brunei was built in 1997, but over the years the school have been expanded to what it is today. These are some pictures of the School buildings and facilities.
As JIS now has 1700 students from 55 nationalities, being an international community with a Bruneian heart, International Day is an amazing opportunity to encourage students to develop as a global community and celebrate each other’s nationalities, cultures, customs and languages.
This is an observational drawing I did with color pencils as part of my IGCSE art examination, in which the exam question was to arrange chopped vegetables on a cutting board. I had researched the contemporary artist Janet Fish and was really inspired by her work of fruits and vegetables, and I really wanted to capture her style of vivid colors and interesting arrangements. I used red bell peppers and chilies because I really love their bright red color, and I then added in some potatoes to juxtapose the vivid red with a softer yellow. I also added in an old wooden cutting board because it had many interesting lines and cuts on it that would add texture to the piece, and the dark brown worked well with the red and yellow. It was highly enjoyable layering different shades of red and yellow for the chilies, and especially the different hues of brown and ochre for the cutting board.
