Although she is still without guests onboard, Icon of the Seas arrived at her first Caribbean port on January 2. The biggest cruise ship ever constructed arrived at Ponce, Puerto Rico, on the southern coast of the island early in the morning. Icon of the Seas is a cruise ship built for Royal Caribbean International and will be the lead ship of the Icon class. She is scheduled to enter service on 27 January 2024 out of Port Miami in the US. At 248,663 gross tonnage, Icon of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world.
Sadly, I couldn't take closer photos because I wasn't aware that this amazing cruise ship was going to arrive here while I was on vacation.

From high above the hills of St. Thomas, the largest cruise shipping the world - Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas - sits docked in the harbor and appears tiny, framed by layers of deep-green islands and calm, shimmering water. Soft afternoon light washes the distant horizon, giving the scene a gentle haze while the ship’s bright structure stands out against the darker terrain.

Two of the "Royal Caribbean" fleet of cruise ships. "Adventure of the Seas" (moored to R. of jetty) had its maiden cruise on18 November 2001. Capacity: 3114 (double), 3807 (maximum). "Icon of the Seas" had its maiden voyage 27 January 2024. Reputedly, the largest cruise ship in the world with capacity of 5610 (double) occupancy and 7600 (maximum). I'm told that natural trees have been planted on the upper deck..

As we were heading east on our second day at sea, we spotted the Royal Caribbean Icon of the Seas (and the Oasis of the Seas) to our port side. These were taken from our port side room (9133). I have never seen the Icon before - I was surprised we caught up. She was about two nautical miles north of us. On board the Celebrity Apex for Seth's Big Fat Broadway Cruise from January 11th to 18th, 2025. The itinerary includes stops in Basseterre (St. Kitts), Road Town, Tortola (British Virgin Islands), and Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) before returning to Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida). The best part is that we are on Seth's Big Fat Broadway Cruise again!
