Ica -Huacachina Lagoon 20221119
Huacachina is centred on a lagoon with lush vegetation, all in the world's driest desert. Nestled between the largest sand dunes in South America, it is the continent's only natural oasis.
Huacachina is located in south-western Peru, on the edge of the Atacama Desert. It is located about 5 kilometres from the city of Ica.
The oasis is formed by water from underground aquifers that seeps through the sand and encourages the growth of palms, eucalyptus and carob trees around the pool. The lagoon, which covers less than a hectare, is surrounded by businesses, hotels and restaurants on its edge. The oasis town has a population of about 100 annual residents. In recent years, the water level in the lagoon has decreased due to the drilling of nearby wells and increased evaporation during hot summers. As a result, the city has started to pump water into the lagoon from external sources.

We were quite surprised to know that close to Lima, the capital city of Peru was a desert town of Ica. This desert has a small oasis call Huacachina. Though full of tourists, foreign and local, we spent a couple of fun days here. Climbing up the sand dunes and sand boarding down.
The Orix 308 is a camera from the company Ica from Dresden. It was built from 1914 to 1929. The plates or sheet films have the size 10x15cm.
The lens hood is from the 3D printer. The bellows had holes that I patched with fabric and black liquid latex. The camera cost well under a hundred euros - with sheet film holders and cassettes.
Die Orix 308 ist eine Kamera der Firma Ica aus Dresden. Sie wurde von 1914 bis 1929 gebaut. Die Platten oder Planfilme haben die Größe 10x15cm.
Die Gegenlichtblende stammt aus dem 3D-Drucker. Der Balgen hatte Löcher, die ich mit Stoff und schwarzem flüssigem Latex geflickt habe. Die Kamera kostete weit unter hundert Euro - mit Planfilmhaltern und Kassetten.
