Closing Ceremony for IBM Smarter Cities Challenge will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at City Hall Commons Atrium, 201 East Washington St. The City of Syracuse has hosted a team from IBM as part of its Smarter Cities Challenge program for the last three weeks. Syracuse is one of only eight cities in the U.S. to be selected for this cutting edge program. The team has worked closely with leaders from around the city to develop recommendations related to vacant properties and neighborhood revitalization. These recommendations will be delivered at this ceremony. The focus of the Smarter Cities initiative is to enable Syracuse to become a more vibrant and livable place for citizens through data analysis, cross-disciplinary planning and community-wide action. A reception will be held from 2 to 2:30 p.m. and the IBM Final Presentation will begin at 2:30 p.m.
