IBM's von mir und meiner Frau

Mies van der Rohe's classic IBM Building at State Street and the Chicago River. A simple 700 foot tall rectangle, the IBM Building stands in wonderful contrast to the nearby corncob-shaped Marina Towers. Unfortunately the building has fallen on somewhat hard times, in no small part because the building will soon be dwarfed by Trump Tower next door. In fact, IBM has moved its offices out of the building. The current owners plan to convert some of the space to residential use.

My old school's IBM computer circa 1968.

No, that is not the computer in front of the student - you can see just part of it behind him to the left of the picture.

And no - this is not me - and I don't remember who he was - it was 40 years ago!

IBM Big Blue Compie compie 100 anni

International Business Machines (IBM) originated in the late 19th century, and during the early 20th century produced, among other things, cheese slicing and weighing machines.

The IBM Space Saving Keyboard (SSK) was an optional peripheral for the PS/2 personal computer. Although originally not as popular as the full-size Model M which included a number pad key cluster, the SSK has developed a loyal following among vintage keyboard collectors and enthusiasts. Due to the popularity of the full-size Model M, there are now relatively few SSKs to be found for sale or scrap. Those that do turn up quickly sell for top dollar, even in very poor condition.

This particular SSK, dated December 14, 1987, was rescued from an e-cycler, then fully cleaned and restored. The keycaps (many of which were broken or missing) have been replaced with a replica set produced by Unicomp, Inc.

An IBM mainframe with markings indicating that it was built by or at least for IBM Germany.

The model 40 was the first of the System/360 models to be delivered to customers. It was announced on April 7, 1964 and withdrawn on October 7, 1977 for a total of 13 years in production!!!

My first experiments with the Hercules emulator under OS X a couple of years ago. I believe that this was OS/360.

1930s electric typewriter outer case, part of the frame as well.

... IBM logo found stuck to a datacenter floor tile. Must have fallen off of something.

This is my old IBM desktop setup. It will be moved to storage soon. The Sun Blade 100 is used mainly as a printer stand. I have learned that old IBM Intellistation with modern Debian GNU/Linux is more snappy than the Blade with modern Solaris.

Essa foi o prêmio da Primeira fase do concurso Main Frame da IBM, acho que irei fazer um quadro!!! Apesar que prefiro open-drive do Netbeans!!!
