To risk everything. Each
ethnicity has faced it's own struggle, and each ethnicity has persevered. As Asian Americans, our ancestors who first immigrated to the United States, risked everything in order for us to be where we are today. The Kobun Tanto bladed knife represents the never ending fight each of our ancestors faced.

"Topaz"
One of many
relocation centers that became home to numerous Japanese Americans during WWII, including my grandparents. The black crane and dark vibe serve as a symbolic remembrance of that dark past, and to those who lost their lives.

As Japanese Americans, we live in a constant balance of New and Old. Being at the pinnacle of technological advances, Japan is known for its creative gadgets and oddities, as well as for it's deep historical roots and retention of culture.
An Amazon Danbo signifies the new, while the front entrance to the Japanese American Museum of San Jose represents the old.

Ryder, misted in Piuke, or beauty is a true love story. His owner brought him in from the mainland after learning of the fate of Premera Mares and their offspring. Premera is a hormone drug for women and is obtained from hormones from pregnant mares. In order to maintain supply, horses are consistently being bred and their offspring end up at the auction houses. However, Ryder is one of the lucky ones and today lives in paradise.
"Gaman" -Perserverence. Not only a motto for Japanese Americans or those who practice Zen Buddhism, but also for all ethnicities that have persevered through the racism and struggle to assimilate to American culture to bring us to where we are today.
