No.6 - where am I ?

No.2 - in the village

N0.6 - what do you want ?

No.2 - we need information !

No.6 - whose side are you on ?

No. 2 - that would be telling ! we want information, information, information....

if the title makes sense, then you are either an old fart (or "fartess", as the case may be). or just a little weird, which is good too ... ;-) ... the title refers to a character in one of my all time favorite tv shows ... a few decades ago ...

any guesses?

in honour of Patrick McGoohan and The Prisoner.... my earliest living memory, aged 2 or so, watching television in Porthleven, Cornwall: "Rover" popping up from the sea and enveloping the escaped prisoner on the sandy estuary, whose face then pressed hard against the balloon skin from the inside.

terrifying.

i only found out where this sequence was from 25 years later, having never seen the series. to say that i was nervous watching the programme for the second time would be a mammoth understatement!

as David Lynch has said, when you're young, the "window" is wide open; as it tightens shut with age, you're left to work through latent, aggregate psychic forms emerging from subconscious depths...

I can't say I've ever been a true fanboy of anything, but The Prisoner is about as close as I got.

This photo was taken on my second pilgrimage to The Village (Portmeirion). My original idea was to put myself in here as number six, but in the end decided that would be an insult to the late, great, Patrick Mcgoohan.

Fifteen years ago my brother and I made the trip after we got into the original series. This year I was holidaying nearby and thought i'd take my new family there to see what they made of it.

Consider this a tribute to Patrick, who died earlier this year - the one and only number six.

Free at last!
