One of the projects during the program 'Estuaire 2007'. 'Architecture nomade' comprised some 20 structures of mobile dwelling, like this three-wheeler, carrying a double-sized bed under his wooden dome. The feeling inside was just great. The wooden dome gave surprising space and cosiness, while due to small size there was almost no difference between inside and outside.

So what is this explore ?
It is ranking system for pictures, they developed an algorithm that is often called weird. Not their fault, no system can be perfect.Wherever numbers are involved,rigging begins.Hence,Flickr admins are always at their toes to make sure that images make there on merit and the algorithm keeps changing but guess what, riggers are getting increasingly smarter too :-)
How does it work?
Primarily comments, notes,tags,favorites and user reputations and the time when you upload it. Flowers,kittens, sunsets, children, pets,naked self portraits are surely your easiest passport to explore
How can I get an Explore ?
Elementary Mr. Watson! Put a picture of an ordinary flower in your stream and market it aggressively by dropping one of these comments to your contacts pictures -"nice shot",lovely composition","great colors","you rock" and Bingo! You're in explore. and If you're lucky once in a while you will get to top10 or top20 and you are exposed to the world of mediocre snapshooters,retired people,american grannies whose only other useful activity on computer is to play 777 poker and click on spam-links and they will surely move you to the top ;-)
There is a group of friends in flickr where one post an image and other 100 comment on it and each one of them makes it every time. Nice brotherhood.
Explore was intended to be a useful way for people browsing the site to find images that are considered interesting in generic terms. It's not sadly meant to be a competition or a list of the "best." but Yahoo is not complaining, this is keeping people busy and they're laughing their way to bank.Sample some classic explore shots that I managed to find for this post.(Don't miss out the comments)

So why am I sulking? Iam not, I just like researching. Believe it or not , I can bulldoze each of my pictures into explore,good or bad, but who cares ?
P.S - I've researched and I've tested it on lot of people (latest flickr algorithm) - Hardcore pros,advanced photographers,serious ametuers,beginners and novices, lots of them and found something interesting.This is not,god forbid,anything scientific- just my observation and it works :-
Actual photographers(Professionals and those without an eye for explore) generally manage a 1/3 or 1/4 ratio at all times in flickr scout (ratio- current explore / total explore) and most of us are sadly, I pat your back and you pat mine.
Now, May I please request you to favorite this picture ;-)
The person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore,,, :)
