Mine is still charging and I haven't had a chance to play with it much, but here's what I think so far:
Back when the original iPad mini was introduced around this time last year, I didn't jump all over it because it was spec'd just like my circa 2010 iPad 2. I also found the 1024x768 resolution to be a bit passe. Anyway, this new iPad mini with Retina display (groans at the "Retina" branding) is exactly what I wanted from an iPad mini. I can't help but laugh at the Mac fans who are whining about missing "features" like Touch ID - I've had my iPhone 5s for a bit now and find Touch ID to be a totally useless gimmick - it doesn't work 95% of the time which negates any savings in time I'd achieve from using my thumbprint instead of my PIN, and just isn't something I'm at all excited about. It reminds me a bit of Siri - tons of hype and insanely appealing to [euphemism for non-techies goes here], possibly decent in theory, awful in execution.

「Excelが出たらiPad miniでも買おうかな」と思ったら、ほんとうに出た。・・・なので、買ったよ、iPad mini2（苦笑）。
Excelってのは心からリスペクトすべき良質なアプリケーションだと思う。とりわけ2010以降のExcelはエクセレント。職場ではExcel2010、自宅のMacではExcel2011を使っているけれど、どれも素晴らしいです。
とりあえず健康管理に血液検査の結果を入力中（苦笑）。
