Generally speaking, people don't change for the better when criticized. But they do respond favourably to praise.
Huaxi Cun is not the worst place in China, and it has been following and sometimes leading the objectives and trends of the government and Chinese people - first it was to get rich - and clean up the mess later. We did this in the West on our own schedule, some Chinese are doing it now under the generally hypocritical pressure of the global community.

An aspirational monument - if you choose to see it that way..
When I was invited to Huaxi Cun for the inauguration of the “Village in the Sky”, (www.tudou.com/programs/view/05XpJXkiNwI/ ) I spoke of the new tower as a beacon for all to see, not in terms of opulence and excess, but as a towering 3 element "Symbol of Sustainability" - an aspirational symbol rising above all else - including the cookie-cutter villas, the grubby factories, the money focus and the faux world landmarks - to shock and awe viewers into realizing that all monuments have a message – and this one should inspire people to make the connection between Heaven, Earth and the People (Tian, Di, Ren 天地人) and that to achieve Wu Renbao’s “Heaven on Earth”… the Triple-Bottom-Line balance between Society, Environment and Economy （社会,环境,经济）must become Huaxi’s new ethic.

Following my presentation, the new building’s architect Ma Xusheng, in turn praised my interpretation of his building’s design, saying that no one had thought of it before, but that “with your new ‘Society, Environment, Economy ‘meaning attached, our building is even richer”.
At a private dinner with village leaders the evening before, I had shamelessly asked: “Now that Huaxi village is rich, what’s next?” – hoping to encourage them to expound on how they were going to share Huaxi’s wealth and expertise with other communities and to build sustainable enterprises based on a model ecological civilisation… however the response was understandable, as a bit more thinking is required; and considering most people’s focus was still on showing off and celebrating what they have achieved so far, the answer was a simple “Gambei!”

an insight into Nurse Ratched's hypocritical accusations in her methods to cruelly manipulate and control others. Although McMurphy is aiming to free patients from The Big Nurse's tyranny, he has taken it upon himself to topple her in a crusade with himself as instigator and leading figure, leading to another form of control; so in a way she is correct.
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, whether intentional or not, depicts reality or inevitability over idealism; idealism here being the fair treatment of vulnerable people with mental health problems.
While we may choose to regard the patients as tragic and Ratched as tyrannical, it is easy to overlook the wider truth that many with mental illness or learning difficulties DO find themselves either shunned, mistreated, physically attacked, abused and manipulated by a wider society; and that Ken Kesey's admirable addressing the matter does not change it's ever-remaining presence.
The most upsetting factor in the case of Cuckoo's Nest is that patients are admitted to hospital for treatment and own safety, only to be subjected to other forms of deliberate disregard and abuse.
The final bitter lesson of the tale though still stands as strong today "McMurphy couldn't beat an unfair and abusive system, and neither will you. Hope this story got that message across"

Generally speaking, people don't change for the better when criticized. But they do respond favourably to praise.
Huaxi Cun is not the worst place in China, and it has been following and sometimes leading the objectives and trends of the government and Chinese people - first it was to get rich - and clean up the mess later. We did this in the West on our own schedule, some Chinese are doing it now under the generally hypocritical pressure of the global community.

When I was invited to Huaxi Cun for the inauguration of the “Village in the Sky”, (www.tudou.com/programs/view/05XpJXkiNwI/ ) I spoke of the new tower as a beacon for all to see, not in terms of opulence and excess, but as a towering 3 element "Symbol of Sustainability" - an aspirational symbol rising above all else - including the cookie-cutter villas, the grubby factories, the money focus and the faux world landmarks - to shock and awe viewers into realizing that all monuments have a message – and this one should inspire people to make the connection between Heaven, Earth and the People (Tian, Di, Ren 天地人) and that to achieve Wu Renbao’s “Heaven on Earth”… the Triple-Bottom-Line balance between Society, Environment and Economy （社会,环境,经济）must become Huaxi’s new ethic.

Following my presentation, the new building’s architect Ma Xusheng, in turn praised my interpretation of his building’s design, saying that no one had thought of it before, but that “with your new ‘Society, Environment, Economy ‘meaning attached, our building is even richer”.
At a private dinner with village leaders the evening before, I had shamelessly asked: “Now that Huaxi village is rich, what’s next?” – hoping to encourage them to expound on how they were going to share Huaxi’s wealth and expertise with other communities and to build sustainable enterprises based on a model ecological civilisation… however the response was understandable, as a bit more thinking is required; and considering most people’s focus was still on showing off and celebrating what they have achieved so far, the answer was a simple “Gambei!”

This is something that genuinely infuriates me. A person who cannot be bothered to understand (and in some cases even read) your argument will feel perfectly justified in calling you out as a "hypocrite" (a fancy way of calling you a liar, really) because your actions contradict their *interpretation* of what your views are.
This is especially true WRT any kind of feminism. It's like the majority of young people have learned what feminism means - not from people who actually hold these beliefs - but from this Viz Comics/Lads Magazine hysterical retrogressive backlash of what (usually men) *BELIEVE* it to be.
It's the ultimate straw man, isn't it?
Why should you actually find out what a person's beliefs are - let alone engage with them in any kind of meaningful way - when you can make up your mind ahead of time what you think you mean, and joust at that straw man.
I've been kind of hypocritical. In all of my photos, I've been wearing foundation. So here's my face without makeup or editing.
The bags under my eyes usually aren't that bad (and actually, they look worse in person). I'm gonna go ahead and blame my headcold.

I wonder how long it will take until it would be possible to have pub Gestapo or restaurant Pol Pot? People certainly have a short and selective memory. It is not bad taste I mind, but hypocritical taste.
I made this photo into a rather colorful and artsy image of what was a gawd-awful neighbor's messy patio (some years ago). My patio at the time, next to hers, had some clutter, but nothing at all like hers. It was hypocritical of her to complain about mine, but complain she did. and for reasons I shall not go into here, I got in trouble and she did not.

Does one actually go to school to become a "community organizer?" Firefighter, soldier, policeman, doctor, engineer....these are real job descriptions. I'm not sure how being a "community organizer" prepares you for anything, much less the presidency of these United States of America.
I never felt one way or another about Carrot Top until seeing him in posters all over town. Good gods that man is ugly!
At least they have solar. That I observed this while sitting on the climate controlled double-decker bus that lumbered along slower than my usual footpace, makes me a hypocrite of the worst kind.

Generally speaking, people don't change for the better when criticized. But they do respond favourably to praise.
Huaxi Cun is not the worst place in China, and it has been following and sometimes leading the objectives and trends of the government and Chinese people - first it was to get rich - and clean up the mess later. We did this in the West on our own schedule, some Chinese are doing it now under the generally hypocritical pressure of the global community.

An aspirational monument - if you choose to see it that way..
When I was invited to Huaxi Cun for the inauguration of the “Village in the Sky”, (www.tudou.com/programs/view/05XpJXkiNwI/ ) I spoke of the new tower as a beacon for all to see, not in terms of opulence and excess, but as a towering 3 element "Symbol of Sustainability" - an aspirational symbol rising above all else - including the cookie-cutter villas, the grubby factories, the money focus and the faux world landmarks - to shock and awe viewers into realizing that all monuments have a message – and this one should inspire people to make the connection between Heaven, Earth and the People (Tian, Di, Ren 天地人) and that to achieve Wu Renbao’s “Heaven on Earth”… the Triple-Bottom-Line balance between Society, Environment and Economy （社会,环境,经济）must become Huaxi’s new ethic.

Following my presentation, the new building’s architect Ma Xusheng, in turn praised my interpretation of his building’s design, saying that no one had thought of it before, but that “with your new ‘Society, Environment, Economy ‘meaning attached, our building is even richer”.
At a private dinner with village leaders the evening before, I had shamelessly asked: “Now that Huaxi village is rich, what’s next?” – hoping to encourage them to expound on how they were going to share Huaxi’s wealth and expertise with other communities and to build sustainable enterprises based on a model ecological civilisation… however the response was understandable, as a bit more thinking is required; and considering most people’s focus was still on showing off and celebrating what they have achieved so far, the answer was a simple “Gambei!”

3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

This cartoon is one of many, which together will illustrate the complete “Sermon on the Mount”.
Matthew chapters 05:01–08:01 is called “the Sermon on the Mount” because Jesus gave it on a hillside near Capernaum, which was a city on the north coast of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret.) This sermon probably covered several days of preaching, if not more & the content was probably repeated (at least in part) by Jesus many times, as the message contained in the sermon is central to the gospel message.
This is a very literal version of the scene Jesus was describing. It shows a man trying to take the speck of sawdust from another man’s eye, whilst having a plank of wood in his own! Jesus was here describing a hypocritical attitude of mind which the Pharisees of his day had & which we all can have quite easily!
