Even if I strike the nose of a believer with this, my sword Zulfi'qar, for hating me he will not hate me, and even if I pile all the wealth of the world before a hypocrite (Muslim) for loving me he will not love me. This is because it is a verdict pronounced by the tongue of the revered Prophet, may Allah bless him and his descendants, as he said:
O `Ali, a believer will never hate you arid a hypocrite (Muslim) will never love you.
Hadith n. 45 - Imam 'Âlî Ibn Abû Talîb (ع)
A notice found at Walcot Hall, Lydbury North, Shropshire. I could think of a few politicians we could have sent too. Come to think of it we did and we've still got some: Cameron, his donkey Osborne, the Quisling Clegg. the hypocrite Corbyn to mention just four. Now I bet that's stirred up a wasps nest.
Here's the real problem - we haven't any colonies now. Still I suppose we could always send them to South Georgia.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
(King James Bibel, Matthew 6:5-8)

On the political front, woman of 1910, were no slouches. Sufferage was the big issue of the day. This is an anti-sufferage picture with the caption, "The genii of intolerance A dangerous ally for the cause of women suffrage." Dated: 1915. It suggest sufferagettes were hypocrites, individuals who wanted more personal freedom while at the same time telling others how to live their lives. Does this seem sentimental to you?
Feb. 28, '26: I pray for Iran and for all Iranians, a beautiful country filled with beautiful people, victimized since the advent of the mass production of motor vehicles because they live above such a great wealth of natural resources in oil and gas. They're in the same club as the Iraqis, the Libyans, the Congolese and the Venezuelans (despite the wall to wall media propaganda re Israeli security concerns, etc., etc.), but they have the ingenuity and strength of will to fight back when they have to, and now they have to. (I might be a hypocrite to pray for anything seeing as I'm not religious, but I don't care.)
I wrote the following a year or two ago.:
I traveled on a tight budget of @ $10,000.00 for 11 1/2 (almost 12) mos. from Manchester to central and SE Iran, all overland (except for the train through the Chunnel under the English Channel), stayed in the cheapest accommodation to be found most often and ate in unassuming places generally, with rare exceptions. In Iran I lived on @ $ 8.00 a day w/o skimping on film, tourist attractions, postcards, and books (great quality and the cheapest anywhere. But if I'd had more $ [much more] I would've eaten much more kebab.) I could travel long distance for a day by bus there for @ $1.00 (!!) whereas I hitched across Turkey. I tried hitching in Iran for the 1st few days, but it was tough, at least on the main routes. I realized why when I learned how incredibly cheap long-distance bus travel was. I would find cheap moserferkhanes (sp? pron. moh-zer-fer-haw-nays, budget inns) for @ $5.00 per night, some not bad (a real nice one in Tabriz), and some real dives! (I stayed in a room in Shiraz that I don't think had been washed in ... ? Black walls and ceiling, was I in a hostel in a condemned bldg. run by squatters? I slept in my sleeping bag on a groundsheet on the bed.)
- I preferred the food in Turkey generally (incredible), but preferred the desserts in Iran, like gaz and pistachio-brittle, which is saying something as Turkish desserts are world-famous. My favourite, and a tax on my budget, were the bags of little cream puffs filled with real cream. One thing that I did eat often in Tehran (ONLY b/c it was so cheap), was a 'spaghetti sandwich', spaghetti in a hot-dog bun, starch on starch, something I've never seen anywhere else.
- Iranians are outgoing, extroverted, and would readily invite me to stay at their homes, but most often I declined. I was focused on my tourism (I tried to see and take in as much as I could almost every day that trip), and I planned to head home for Xmas so my list of sites and sights left to be seen was more finite every day. But Iranians are 'party people' and would often have a get-together with friends late in the evening when they'd host me, and I'd be too exhausted by 10 p.m. or so to stay up. At one memorable house party in Kermanshah no-one spoke English and one old man was trying to be comical and engaging, but I was just wiped and my host wasn't reading my body language at all. It was a cultural thing. But of course he was being most kind and generous inviting me to his home, having a party, feeding me and housing me, a stranger, for a night for free. I hope I thanked him enough. Now I wish I hadn't been so polite and just accepted the hospitality but asked first if I could hit the hay early. Why not?
- Excerpts re my travels in Iran from an email sent to someone less than a month after I returned home.:
"Iran ... [is] a fascinating place. It doesn't have an old feel to much of it as so many little towns do in Germany and thereabouts, which is due to the nature of mud-brick, and possibly the Persian appreciation for novelty, that much of what you'll see of general interest in the older towns is turn-of-the-last-century. (One particularly energetic Qajar shah at the end of the 19th cent. renovated so many of the world's oldest cities.) With a few exceptions like Yazd, and some very few small towns like Abiyaneh near Kashan, your tourism involves looking for the older buildings, the inevitable mosques, gonbads (tomb-towers), and imamzadehs (shrines/tombs of descendants of Mohammed or of mystics and imams). And of course there are the rambling bazaars. Most of the major towns do have well-preserved ancient complexes. The people are wonderful in many ways and easy to like, but could be trying as well on rare occasions. In fact they're the most friendly people I've ever met, and the most extroverted outside or including Africa. But I didn't always feel safe in some small centres alone with a large backpack. Young men can swagger up en masse with oleaginous smiles and an interest in your pockets. [That only happened the once I think, in Firuzabad.] One of the biggest differences is in the kids at archaeological ruins (mounds) who flock around and want your attention, and who'll throw small rocks from behind your back when you're not looking. [That happened 3 x. Friendly Iranians might perceive that a tourist is being a bit rude or even weird if he says hello but then prefers to explore and focus on the ruins, which is what likely inspired kids to throw small rocks in my direction when I had my back to them at Hasanlu, Susa, and Tappe Sialk, although one gave me some great Elamite-era pottery sherds at the latter beforehand.] There's something utterly foreign in what almost seems to be a complete lack of hierarchy between the generations (at least compared to what we're used to). The young kids aren't spoiled but if they're being brats don't expect an adult to intervene and tell them to leave the foreigner alone. [Persians aren't disciplinarians, but their kids grow up to be hard-working and conscientious. They might be onto something.] ... Iranians aren't fashion plates but their clothes are spotless at all times. As their rivers have been running dry recently you see long stretches of trash and filth running under and away from their bridges, and the gutters are choked, but not a stain on anyone anywhere. ... The sites are fascinating for anyone with an interest in history. In fact I plan to go back soon (in the scheme of things, 'soon' is relative to my future travels elsewhere). ..."
- From another email I sent to the same person a couple of years later. He was considering traveling to Iran.:
"If you CAN go for an extended period, you'll find a huge piece of the ancient world waiting for you, relatively ignored by tourists with a few real exceptions (Esfahan, Shiraz with nearby Achaemenid ruins ... and Yazd were replete with foreign tourists, esp. Yazd it seemed [It was in Yazd, in the famous Jameh mosque there, that I learned from a western tourist that Pierre Trudeau had passed 2 - 3 weeks earlier], and otherwise I only saw one (from a distance) at Ghara Kelise near Maku (a famous Armenian church and pilgrimage site), one in Hamadan (the fabled city [of Ecbatana] with a glorious history under the Medes and the Achaemenids), I don't recall seeing any in Tabriz (?), a handful on a tour at Susa (which could be one of the most historic cities on earth by my estimate) and a couple at nearby Chogha Zanbil (the most intact ziggurat in the Middle East). ... It's amazing that the first high domes on a square base (with pioneering use of the squinch), in the Sassanian palace of Ardeshir Babakan near Firuzabad, had no mention in my LP guide. ... And the LP is clueless re: the significance of Takht-i-Suleiman in southern E. Azerbayjan province as well. One of the most important volcanoes to the course of Iranian and world history at the site is described as a hill if I remember. The LP people even say the view from the top of the hill is impressive, but of course they couldn't have seen that view and not known it was a hollow volcano. There were no foreign tourists at that site when I was there except for an expat living in the US and his family (I visited the site twice), and which could have been the source of certain fundamental aspects of Zoroastrianism which in turn had such a profound influence on Judaism and in turn Christianity and Islam. ... It's all the more fascinating the further you get off the beaten track from urban centres (and even in those). ... "
We spotted our glorious London Mayor, Boris Johnson, by a side entrance at the back of the building posing for chummy photos with his Conservative sycophants and fund-raisers, but as soon as he saw us he dashed inside.
London Mayor Boris Johnson sneaks in and out of secret Tory Conference as activists protest at the entrance. Hammersmith Town Hall, London 27.02.2011
Thanks to a leaked email and Twitter the scores of Conservative Party delegates who turned up at Hammersmith Town Hall today for a secret London Regional Conservative Party conference had to run the gauntlet of a small-but-loud picket of protesters who were angry at the severe local funding cuts already implemented by the right-wing Conservative Hammersmith & Fulham Council which has just announced a punitive budget for the next year, slashing front line services to the elderly, the disabled, immigrant support and child protection services.
Hammermith & Fulham's Conservative councillors have gone further than Communities Secretary Eric "Jabba The Hut" Pickles' 11.5% cuts by a further 3.5%. In their last round of budget cuts the council admitted even last year that they were already putting the lives of disabled residents at risk. Last year's cuts are nothing compared to this latest round.
The cuts are already blighting poorer people's lives in the borough, with much, much more to come, yet the council is happily earmarking £35,000,000 for the construction of a 14-storey luxury apartment development for private resale on land which previously hosted a large number of Community Groups and Services.
This conference was also intended to serve as a platform for "Star Turn of the day" London Mayor Boris Johnson to launch his re-election campaign. Johnson, however, sneaked in by a side door to avoid having to listen to people's legitimate complaints and, like a cowardly thief in the night when his speech inside had finished he sneaked out of a disused Service Entrance down the side of the building on his bicycle, refusing to pose for a single photograph. In his haste to escape our cameras he crashed into the kerb, slipped off his saddle (almost crushing his infamously fertile Tory testicles in the process) and almost fell over before wobbling off into the distance like a massive, corn-fed Norman Wisdom and almost crashing into a pedestrian.
The fifty police officers (including a Metropolitan Police catering van) who had to attend this meeting cost around £15,000 for the day according to a senior police officer we spoke to, and bearing this huge cost to the taxpayers it is even more odious that Boris Johnson should sneak in and out of the building specifically to avoid any contact whatsoever with the very Londoners he frequently claims to champion. In fact from the attendees of the conference not a single Conservative politician would engage the crowd - unless you count the unknown individual who got onto the external stairs leading to the conference room and turned round to flick the "V's" at the protesters below.
The police reported that they were very happy with the behaviour of the 100 or so protesters.

There's sort of a reflection of me in the pot behind the lobster. This turned out to be a tasty dinner but it was sort of sad to plunge them in the pot. I think I'll stick to lobster pounds from now on and leave the plunging to someone else. I realize this is hypocritical, and probably ultimately an unstable position. I end up preferring crab to lobster, anyway.

Anna Nalick ~ Breathe (2AM) ~
2 am and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake
Can you help me unravel my latest mistake
I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season
Yeah, we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize
Hypocrites, you're all here for the very same reason!
'Cause you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe
Woah breathe, just breathe
May he turn 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
Just a day, he sat down to the flask in his fist
Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles
Wanna hold him, maybe I'll just sing about it
'Cause you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, boys
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe
Woah breathe, just breathe
There's a light at each end of this tunnel
You shout 'cause you're just as far in
As you'll ever be out
These mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around
2 am and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper
It's no longer inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to
'Cause you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, now
Sing it if you understand
And breathe, just breathe
Woah breathe, just breathe
Oh breathe, just breathe...

"Village that towers above China" by

Comment by Philip McMaster:
People favourably respond to Change
Generally speaking, people don't change for the better when criticized. But they do respond favourably to praise.
Huaxi Cun is not the worst place in China, and it has been following and sometimes leading the objectives and trends of the government and Chinese people - first it was to get rich - and clean up the mess later. We did this in the West on our own schedule, some Chinese are doing it now under the generally hypocritical pressure of the global community.
An aspirational monument - if you choose to see it that way..
When I was invited to Huaxi Cun for the inauguration of the “Village in the Sky”, (www.tudou.com/programs/view/05XpJXkiNwI/ ) I spoke of the new tower as a beacon for all to see, not in terms of opulence and excess, but as a towering 3 element "Symbol of Sustainability" - an aspirational symbol rising above all else - including the cookie-cutter villas, the grubby factories, the money focus and the faux world landmarks - to shock and awe viewers into realizing that all monuments have a message – and this one should inspire people to make the connection between Heaven, Earth and the People (Tian, Di, Ren 天地人) and that to achieve Wu Renbao’s “Heaven on Earth”… the Triple-Bottom-Line balance between Society, Environment and Economy (社会,环境,经济)must become Huaxi’s new ethic.

"Now that Huaxi village is rich, what's next?"
Following my presentation, the new building’s architect Ma Xusheng, in turn praised my interpretation of his building’s design, saying that no one had thought of it before, but that “with your new ‘Society, Environment, Economy ‘meaning attached, our building is even richer”.
At a private dinner with village leaders the evening before, I had shamelessly asked: “Now that Huaxi village is rich, what’s next?” – hoping to encourage them to expound on how they were going to share Huaxi’s wealth and expertise with other communities and to build sustainable enterprises based on a model ecological civilisation… however the response was understandable, as a bit more thinking is required; and considering most people’s focus was still on showing off and celebrating what they have achieved so far, the answer was a simple “Gambei!”

I took this on International Blvd near the 2100 block if I recall. It was about 2012. Loom at the communist undertone. It says so much about Oakland.
Typical for Oakland. During the Occupy protests there was a large contingent of people promoting communism and wealth redistribution. They were on their laptops and expensive iPhones posting about how awful capitalism is (hypocritical?). Personally I'm glad this country gives us the opportunity to create our own wealth through hard work instead of being lazy and expecting a handout.

Poverty and Homelessness worsen, and governments keep making promises, forming committees and task forces, accompanied by photo-op funding announcements.
...and it only gets worse.

Blow for EU citizens' civil liberties as hypocritical MEPs green light controversial EU-US PNR deal
A majority of MEPs voted today to reverse the European Parliament's long-standing role in defence of EU citizens' civil liberties and to endorse intrusive big brother style surveillance.
The positive vote on the EU-US PNR deal, which came in spite of the fact that fundamental concerns previously outlined by the EP and European courts have not been addressed, will mean US authorities will be able to continue to retain private information about EU airline passengers.
Before the vote, Greens/EFA MEPs and MEPs from the GUE/NGL group staged an action outside the hemicycle to try and convince other groups to reject the agreement.
In the end however, they were outnumbered by the decision of the Conservatives and Social Democrats to vote in favour.
Unable to amend the final text, Greens voted to reject the deal and hit out at the outcome

A stunning place in the North of France. Shame about all the tourists, I say hypocritically. Taken while on holiday, summer 2010.
Whilst I was photographing this Pablo Delgado I was suddenly swamped by what seemed like a Street Art tour. And then they followed me like a bad smell around the Redchurch St area.
Ok given that I did 4 tours of Banksy's street work in 2006 might make my reaction seem hypocritical, but that was 6 years ago and unique at the time, and it was all for free (and giving free POW stuff & my hand produced B&W photos out), and it was also not just ploughing the same tired streets over and over again like these people, and most 'street art' photographers, seem to..
rant over. I've just fallen off my soapbox and I looked like a right twat.
"Just fake it, if you're of directions, fake it, if you don't belong,
yeah, fake it, if you feel like infection, whoa,
you're such a fuckin' hypocrite"

Long time no seen!
In a little delay but I just wanted to say Merry Chrismas and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!
Guidelines for Survival from the Flickereenos:
Flickr Community Guidelines
Flickr accounts are intended for personal use, for our members to share photos and video that they themselves have created.
The following Community Guidelines are here to help you understand what it means to be a member of Flickr. Don't forget that your use of Flickr is subject to these
Guidelines and our Terms of Use.
What to do
Do play nice.
We're a community of many types of people, who all have the right to feel comfortable and who may not think what you think, believe what you believe or see what you see. So, be polite and respectful in your interactions with other members.
Do upload content that you have created.
Respect the copyright of others. This means don't steal photos or videos that other people have shared and pass them off as your own. (That’s what favorites are for.)
Do moderate your content.
You need to take responsibility for ensuring that what you upload is appropriately flagged. If your judgment proves to be poor, we'll moderate your account to match appropriate ratings for safe search and/or content type and send you a warning.
Photo content must be flagged as "safe", "moderate" or "restricted." Video on Flickr may only include "safe" or "moderate" content -- "restricted" video content is not allowed on Flickr and will be removed.
Please note that although you may upload "safe", "moderate" or "restricted" content, some countries may only allow you to view "safe" or "safe" & "moderate" content. There's more about this in our FAQs.
Do link back to Flickr when you post your Flickr content elsewhere.
The Flickr service makes it possible to post content hosted on Flickr to outside web sites. However, pages on other web sites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr.
Do enjoy Flickr!
See the world through others’ eyes, participate, find your muse, and expand your horizons!
What not to do
Here’s the deal: In most circumstances, we like to give second chances, so we’ll send you a warning if you step across any of the lines listed below. Subsequent violations can result in account termination without warning.
Don’t upload anything that isn't yours.
This includes other people's photos, video and/or stuff you've collected from around the Internet. Accounts that consist primarily of such collections may be terminated at any time.
Don’t forget the children.
Take the opportunity to filter your content responsibly. If you would hesitate to show your photos or videos to a child, your mum, or Uncle Bob, that means it needs to be filtered. So, ask yourself that question as you upload your content and moderate accordingly. If you don’t, it’s likely that one of two things will happen. Your account will be reviewed then either moderated or terminated by Flickr staff.
Don’t show nudity in your buddy icon.
Only content considered "safe" is appropriate for your buddy icon. If we find that you've uploaded a buddy icon that contains "moderate" or "restricted" content, we'll remove the buddy icon, moderate your account as “restricted” and send you a warning. If we find you doing it again, we’ll terminate your account.
Don’t upload content that is illegal or prohibited.
If we find you doing that, your account will be deleted and we'll take appropriate action, which may include reporting you to the authorities.
Don’t vent your frustrations, rant, or bore the brains out of other members.
Flickr is not a venue for you to harass, abuse, impersonate, or intimidate others. If we receive a valid complaint about your conduct, we’ll send you a warning or terminate your account.
Don’t be creepy.
You know the guy. Don't be that guy.
Don’t use your account to host web graphics like logos and banners.
Your account will be terminated if we find you using it to host graphic elements of web page designs, icons, smilies, buddy icons, forum avatars, badges, and other non-photographic elements on external web sites.
Don’t use Flickr for commercial purposes.
Flickr is for personal use only. If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account. Any other commercial use of Flickr, Flickr technologies (including APIs, FlickrMail, etc), or Flickr accounts must be approved by Flickr. For more information on leveraging Flickr APIs, please see our Services page. If you have other open questions about commercial usage of Flickr, please feel free to contact us.
Here are some other things to keep in mind:
Other People (their content, their behavior)
You will see all sorts of things on Flickr, some of which may offend you. If you are offended by a photo or video you can either click away or you can mark it as poorly moderated by clicking on the "Flag this photo" link on a photo page under “Additional Information”. If you think there's immediate cause for concern, you can report content and/or someone's behavior to Flickr staff via the “Report Abuse” link that’s available in the footer of every page.
Copyright Infringement
If you see photos or videos that you’ve created in another member’s photostream, don't panic. This is probably just a misunderstanding and not malicious. A good first step is to contact them and politely ask them to remove it. If that doesn't work, please file a Notice of Infringement with the Yahoo! Copyright Team who will take it from there.
You may be tempted to post an entry on your photostream or in our public forum about what's happening, but that's not the best way to resolve a possible copyright problem. We don't encourage singling out individuals like this on Flickr.
In Conclusion
We’ve crafted these guidelines to ensure that everyone within the community has the experience they want. It’s important that you understand the importance of moderating your content responsibly. If you don't feel that you can abide by our Community Guidelines as outlined above, maybe Flickr isn't for you.
If you ever have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you. Please feel free to drop us a line through Help by Email.

Let's meet the Anti-Cuts and Disability Rights campaigners... the victims of the Bankers' unpunished crimes against the people of the World.
London Mayor Boris Johnson sneaks in and out of secret Tory Conference as activists protest at the entrance. Hammermith Town Hall, London
