It was rainy and quite windy at the beaches I was at yesterday. Fortunately the rain stopped shortly before sunset. The wind was still relentless but did not stop me from getting some images of these waves crashing up a storm. I was there for over an hour as the waves sloshed in all directions in what I felt was almost hypnotizing. I had to get closer than I originally felt comfortable at because the wind was too much for me to steady my telephoto enough to get a crisp shot. Thanks in advance for all comments!

I got this 2:1 shot of a flesh fly (Sarcophagidae) as I was making my final lap around the garden this evening, and I was really happy with it!
This is the kind of shot that this lens was designed for! I couldn't have asked for better performance, especially in the fading light. The ommatidia are crisp and defined, and you can even make out the plumose arista (the feathery thing on his face), something I have never even seen in my previous shots!
The depth of field drops off freakishly fast, but that's just the laws of physics being the same old bummers they always are. Diffraction from stopping down, combined with some crazy complex calculations of the properties of light waves, means that the depth of field is measured in fractions of a millimeter! Honestly, I was surprised that it made it across the entire breadth of the eye.
Most folks circumvent this circumstance through creative angles or fifty frame focus stacks, but I blew my software budget on this lens!
These picture-perfect peepers were provided at 2:1 by my Venus Laowa 60mm f2.8 Super Macro! This photo is entirely uncropped. This hypnotic gaze belongs to a 6-7mm long flesh fly!
