My husband shot this patient—or scared-witless—Pacific tree frog using his Nikkor 200mm macro lens and his old Nikon D4.

Same position but different angle than mine—in first comment.

There's room in the world for many different styles and apertures, and Howard and I are at either end of the spectrum. He's an IT Doc and physics guy, and has little close-sighted vision. We make a perfect pair, united in admiration of this tiny frog. Howard took this at 13:58. I took mine at 11:40. Both in shade of back deck.

This is an archive image that I have never uploaded anywhere. It was transformed from color to B n W for this week's themed group, Smile on Saturday. The theme is "HIGH CONTRAST PORTRAIT in B&W".

Jack was in the yard adjusting sprinklers. He was soaked from head to toe. I was out taking photos of butterflies and birds. However, the most interesting subject in the yard at the time was Jack. So, I turned the camera towards him.

We were engaging in normal conversation as he was working away. Of course, I was click, click, clicking away. Suddenly, Jack looked up and I was caught. I love the fact that after all these years the moment he looks at me, a big grin appears on his face.

Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.

Yesterday I celebrated the 10th year as married with my lovely husband. I truly feel I have found my soulmate. We photograph, do long walks and sit and talk for hours. I have been so lucky to have a husband who cares for me in sickness and health.

This flower is dedicated to him ... <3

.

He also has a flickr account with beautiful pictures. Take a look (you find him in the tagged-people)

Have a gorgeous Friday!

Today we celebrated my husband's birthday. I made one of his favourite suppers and of course no birthday is complete without some cupcakes and all of us singing out of tune the Happy Birthday song. :D

Thanks for your visit. I hope you all had a great day!

My husband is watering the garden, and Vas'ka is watching it.

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

EXPLORE # 470

Today marks my 27th wedding anniversary. My husband is so awesome, he woke up early to help me shoot a Sr. Portrait appointment. We were downtown in Salt Lake and the weather was lovely and overcast. The early morning sun peeked through the clouds and illuminated this tangle of webs on this old ornate fence, I had to step away from my appointment for a minute just to snap this for my 366 project. It is so much easier for me to do this type of photography than work with people but I am getting more comfortable so that's something.

Many years ago, when we were in a town in the Galapagos, my husband was amused to see the seal who was admiring the fish.

''Oh sweetness....How I miss you- Do I really? No...otherwise why would've I poisoned you? Dear husband , you said to me, you'd never want me to be alone...so I got a pet and guess what? I teached him how to sit, roll and give paw, but above all those things, me and him enjoy coming to see you lay here, so quiet...you've never been so handsome before...May hell take you while I teach and walk my boy...Rest now.''

Honestly this was a curious idea, it was interesting working on something like this. Satomi always manages to create very interesting scenes and its amazing how you can get creative with this... So y'all better go hype sato's new set or I will bite your toes off!

Husband & me decided to a local walk along the Jurassic coast yesterday (14th Jan 25) starting in Lulworth Cove & ending back in Lulworth. It is quite a difficult walk with some steep ups & downs. The weather up until mid afternoon was the best we have probably had in months.

The coastline in this area is part of the Jurassic coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

======================

LORD CAVERSHAM. And it is high time for you to get married. You are thirty-four years of age, sir.

LORD GORING. Yes, father, but I only admit to thirty-two—thirty-one and a half when I have a really good buttonhole. This buttonhole is not . . . trivial enough.

Female on the left and the male on the right, probably discussing their plans for the day.

My husband is teaching our six year old to play backgammon. For a while, the boy has been watching his dad play it on his phone. This morning, I suggested that it might be even more fun to play together. It seems to have worked. By the afternoon, the boy had challenged dad to a tournament. Competitive like his mum; there could be fireworks.

(I took so many pictures today and couldn't narrow it down to just one, sorry)

My husband wanted this amazing photo done.

My husband is the car buff in this family, but I do love the old classics and hot rods! My husband seemed to think this was either a '57 or '58. In doing a little research, I'm inclined to think this is probably a '57, as the grill looks more like the '57s, painted over but still similar to the 57s. Also, whoever restored this one, made the hood a bit more rounded. I guess if you're doing the restoring, you can make it the way you want, but then, it's not a true restoration is it?! I like the color though...and I especially like the white side walls! Classy!

Sooo....you car buffs out there...am I right in thinking this is a '57? Drop a message...I'd be happy to hear from you!!

American Ranch, Prescott, Arizona, April 2021.

A’ tilleadh dhachaigh (returning home).

Crofting is a Scottish system of landholding and is an integral part of life in the Highlands and Islands. A croft (a small and arable area of land) has its tenancy normally bequeathed to a family member and this one in Staffin, in North East Skye had been occupied by my husband’s family for generations. So our plans began in 2022, post Covid and retirement, for us to return to the croft. The old family home, now belonging to a young local couple, can be seen on the bottom left of the photograph and our new home is being built on a site above the single track road into the village.

Trevor Carpenter Photo Challenge, Week #48: Still Life Impressionism

Elizabeth, Electress Palatine and Queen of Bohemia (born Elizabeth of Scotland; 19 August 1596 – 13 February 1662) was the eldest daughter of James VI and I, King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and Anne of Denmark. She was thus sister to King Charles I and cousin to King Frederick III of Denmark. With the demise of the Stuart dynasty in 1714, her direct descendants, the Hanoverian rulers, succeeded to the British throne.

Elizabeth was born at Falkland Palace, Fife.[1] At the time of her birth, her father was still the King of Scots only. She was named in honor of the Queen of England, in an attempt by her father to flatter the old queen, whose kingdom he hoped to inherit. During her early life in Scotland, Elizabeth's governess was the Countess of Kildare.[1] When Elizabeth was six years old, in 1603, Elizabeth I of England died and James succeeded to the thrones of England and Ireland. When she came to England, she was consigned to the care of Lord Harington, with whom she spent the years of her happy childhood at Combe Abbey in Warwickshire.

Part of the intent of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 was to kidnap the nine-year-old Elizabeth and put her onto the throne of England (and, presumably, Scotland) as a Catholic monarch, after assassinating her father and the Protestant English aristocracy.

Among Elizabeth's suitors was King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden, but she was eventually betrothed to the Elector Palatine in 1612.

On 14 February 1613, she married Frederick V, then Elector of the Palatinate in Germany, and took up her place in the court at Heidelberg. Frederick was the leader of the association of Protestant princes in the Holy Roman Empire known as the Evangelical Union, and Elizabeth was married to him in an effort to increase James's ties to these princes. In 1619, Frederick was offered and accepted the crown of Bohemia. Elizabeth was crowned Queen of Bohemia on 7 November 1619, three days after her husband was crowned King of Bohemia.[2] Frederick's rule was extremely brief, and thus Elizabeth became known as the "Winter Queen." She was also sometimes called "Queen of Hearts" because of her popularity.

Driven into exile, the couple took up residence in The Hague, and Frederick died in 1632. Elizabeth remained in Holland even after her son, Charles I Louis, regained his father's electorship in 1648. Following the Restoration of the English and Scottish monarchies, she travelled to London to visit her nephew, Charles II, and died while there.

Elizabeth's youngest daughter, Sophia of Hanover, had in 1658 married the future Elector of Hanover. The Electress Sophia became the nearest Protestant relative to the English, Scottish and Irish crowns (later British crown). Under the English Act of Settlement, the succession was settled on Sophia and her issue, so that all monarchs of Great Britain from George I are descendants of Elizabeth.

Eamon Cale continues gently, "Father, by your plan man and woman are united, and married life has been established as the one blessing that was not forfeited by original sin or washed away in the flood." He smiles at Bails. "Look with love upon this woman, your daughter, who will join to her husband in marriage. She asks your blessing. Give her the grace of love and peace."

Iohannes Crispien grins at the 'two becoming one' Looking at Bails, blushing as he considers her his better half.

Eamon Cale looks to Ioh. "May her husband put his trust in her and recognize that she is his equal and the heir with him to the life of grace. May he always honor her and love her as Christ loves his bride, the Church. Father, keep them always true to your commandments. Keep them faithful in marriage and let them be living examples of that faith."

Bailey Longcloth smiles at Ioh, honor, love, trust. Those three things they both shared she knew without doubt.

Elise Capalini's throat gets tight. She swallows hard, but it doesn't ease. She tries not to cry as she watches Bails and Ioh, wondering if this is how parents felt when their kids got married. She listens to Eamon's strong voice, the words he says, and all that rests beyond them.

My husband and I stood on the Washington Avenue bridge on the campus of The University of Minnesota waiting for the sun to set. On the right, I could see the dorm I lived in for 2 years. Just to the left of it, was the hospital I worked at. On the far left was the hall where I flogged through freshman english. In the middle is the alien Weisman Art Museum, designed by Frank Gehry. It sticks out like a sore thumb, making me wonder where I was for a moment, although I have to say the reflection of the setting sun on the stainless steel building was pretty.

My husband and I collect rocks. Anytime we walk the shoreline we look for rocks that are unique. They can be fossils, something significant for the area such as Petoskey stones, or just have a cool shape to them. We've also found sea glass and some pretty cool shells. Anyway this is a small part of our collection that we so love...

Thank You have a nice day

Taking a shot of my husband Dave getting a shot of the waves today.

Gratitude is the simplest way to change one’s perspective of the world. It allows us to appreciate the positive, rather than focus on the negative aspects of our lives. Learning to be grateful helps us appreciate the little things in life that we tend to take for granted, which brings about a deep feeling of satisfaction that fulfills and nourishes us.

I'm going to try for the month to show some of the people and things I'm truly THANKFUL for.

Today I'm thankful for Dave who goes along with some of my silliness escapades. Yesterday we had fun at the senior center lunch.

I invited my husband for a nice springwalk. It was our first sunny day in weeks. He denid and locked himselve into his garage and his cars. Oooh, did he regret. When I came home after my walk, I showed him my photo's and told him about the most amazing meeting I had with some special couple, only 10 meters ahead of me. He wept a tear and now clouds are in front of the sun. He returned to his garage, a bit grumpy between his cars. I still feel sunny because of all the great things I've seen and specially because of the couple I met. Thank you for our little talk today you two...
