Sethi usuually hunts during the night and rests during the day. This was one of the rare moments when he was active in plain daylight. :)

Mr Pashakan is a Kazakh Eagle Hunter who lived in Western Mongolia around the township of Bayan Üglii.
This was taken in the compound around his Ger home. He has removed the hood cover over the eagle's eye for the photo.

The Kazakh eagle hunters live in the remote areas of Western Mongolia.
For centuries, they have used golden eagles to hunt prey during the bleak winter months, an extraordinary example of a relationship between humans and semi wild animals.
The hunting is for fur not meat.
The practice may seem cruel to the western eyes but it pays to remember that the eagles are not pets but working animals.
The Kazakh hunters have special bond with the eagles which are considered as family members. However this is not recognised by outsiders.
The Kazakh practice of hunting with birds of prey is hardly a modern one.
Cave paintings depict falconry practices dating back to the Bronze Age.
Chinggis Khan was said to be a fan, and Marco Polo described eagle hunting in his travel to the East with Khan’s grandson in the 1100s.
Traditionally, female eagles are captured from their nest about a few months old, still unable to fly but able to survive away from the nest.
They are trained and nurtured by the Eagle hunter and a relationship develops. Hunting usually takes place during winter.
The eagle remains with the hunter for 4 to 8 years before they are released far away from 'home'. The hunter constantly check on the eagle to make sure they are reintegrating and feeding.
Mr Pashakan was a champion before at the Golden Eagle Festival contest. Unfortunately this year he did not make it to the final round.
Like most old traditions, the practice is dying slowly as not many young Kazakhs are learning the skills or possessed the courage to continue the practice.

The black heron (Egretta ardesiaca) also known as the black egret, is an African heron. It is well known for its habit of using its wings to form a canopy when fishing.
The black heron has an interesting hunting method called canopy feeding - it uses its wings like an umbrella, and uses the shade it creates to attract fish. This technique was well documented in episode 5 of the BBC's "The Life of Birds". Some have been observed feeding in solitary, while others feed in groups of up to 50 individuals, 200 being the highest number reported. The black heron feeds by day but especially prefers the time around sunset. It roosts communally at night, and coastal flocks roost at high tide. The primary food of the black heron is small fish, but it will also eat aquatic insects, crustaceans and amphibians.
This lovely Black Heron was captured during a photography safari on a late evening boat ride on Lake Baringo, Kenya.
The western parts of the Hunter wine region, often entered from Cessnock feature some lovely eucalypt clad ranges backing rolling fields of grape vines. They were just starting to spring forth from their winter prune getting ready for the next vintage.

Last night's supermoon as it appeared from a friend's yard at approximately 9:15 pm, EDT. The first full moon after the autumnal equinox is also known as the Hunter's Moon. This photo was made well before the moon reached its brightest peak; which, from what I found online, occurred at 7:26 am, this morning.

The Swedish Airforce Historic Flight came to the show at Bodø (Norway) with this Hunter, the silver Viggen and a Saab 105.
The 'Acro Hunters' were an aerobatic display team formed in 1962. The team had five Hunters.
This is not originally a Swedish Hunter, but a former mark F.58 (J-4082) from the Swiss Air Force.
