When there is a clear sky, I sometimes try to include the sun in the composition and adjust the lens settings so as to get a starburst.

The arrow and golden thread used by Katniss to shatter the dome. Katniss saw a glitch in the Illusion so she brought it down. We all have to find the glitch in our illusion and bring it down, what we fear or worries us controls us. Like children to turn on the flashlight and look under the bed all the monsters disappear and the dark is not as bad as it once was believed to be. We have to bring down our fear that locks us in an illusion and that keeps us from seeing the reality around us. Let the arrow fly and find its mark! For the Macro Mondays theme "My Favorite Novel (Fiction). From the Hunger Game series Catching Fire by Susanne Collins.

I made Katniss for Alex's contest.
Katniss Everdeen: Torso is from TFA imperial. Legs were painted by me. The coat is made of painted paper with details such as the mockingjay pin. I added pieces of paper for pockets and such to her coat and arms. The "glove tops" are made of painted paper as well. The head is Rey's and the hair is from a Lego fig. I made the quiver from paper, e-tape, and toothpicks. The bow and arrow are brickforge (I believe).
Thanks,
Boss

The Messedamm tunnel “Passerelle” is a pedestrian subway under the Messedamm - right between the exhibition halls, the central bus station (ZOB) and the ICC.
One of Berlin’s really ugly corners. A scene for the film “Hunger Games” was also filmed here.

You're headed for heaven,
The sweet old hereafter,
And I've got one foot in the door.
But before I can fly up,
I've loose ends to tie up,
Right here in
The old therebefore.
I'll be along
When I've finished my song,
When I've shut down the band,
When I've played out my hand,
When I've paid all my debts,
When I have no regrets,
Right here in
The old therebefore,
When nothing
Is left anymore.
Next week Chinese New Year will begin, and it will be the Year of the Snake, so I thought it's time to make a snake scene. And what snake scene could be better than a tribute to Lucy Gray Baird from "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes"? :)
In the movie this is a very powerful scene, in which Lucy, a tribute from District 12 for the 10th Hunger Games, who is not a hunter like Katniss, but a singer, is singing "The Old Therebefore" to calm down the genetically modified snakes, which already killed four other tributes (two in the book) and swarmed towards her. Did a song really prevent them from attacking? Well, I can't tell, because it's a very big spoiler, but it's much more complicated than just that! ;)
Lucy is a very interesting character, and I really like the film (I have a book, but didn't read it yet) so I was considering to make her a tribute with a different scene (not with Snow!), but this one is better. Fun fact: she wrote "The Hanging Tree", the song which became the rebel's anthem after Katniss sang it for a propaganda spot (and I did a tribute for the song here). So, Lucy and her mockingjays could never harm you again, eh, Snow? xD
Since there are no yellow dresses with flowers pattern in Lego, I have to digitally change the colors on Anna's dress from "Frozen", cause it's the only pattern that very remotely reminds me of the pattern on Lucy's corset. Some windows on the Arena have glass, some don't (there's a reason for this, but it's also a spoiler), just like in the film, though in the picture they all ended up looking the same.
You can watch the full scene here:

“At a few minutes before four, Peeta turns to me again. "Your favorite colour . . . it's green?"
"That's right." Then I think of something to add. "And yours is orange."
"Orange?" He seems unconvinced.
"Not bright orange. But soft. Like the sunset," I say. "At least, that's what you told me once."

(No, still not my house!) I hope everyone has a great Christmas, New Years or whatever else you might be celebrating during this time of year!
Bailey and I went on a great mountain bike ride yesterday morning. We rode Coleman Boundary which is in the BIg Ivy part of Pisgah National Forest. This is one of the locations that the "Hunger Games" was filmed. Bailey thinks she is a star too.
Wildflowers are out and this place should be a sight to see in a couple of weeks.

I watched "The Hunger Games" this week and I fail to see how it is so huge amongst teenagers. It's an interesting scenario, there's a valid critic to the entertainment media but it's mostly just a sick and sad story.
A contest is held every year... they are on the 74th contest. Just how long exactly does it take for a country to forgive its districts or for people to realize: "You know what? This Minotaur* has had enough of our virgins, let's stop this madness!"
Also, supposedly it's in the USA after a big war and rename of the country. But there are still other countries, right? The rest of the world, you know? And the whole world would just watch that atrocity and do nothing about it? (Nuking the whole Capital comes easily to mind.)
Another thing: the whole time, everyone's telling Katniss how awesome she is, how's she's likely to win, and there's never a sense of real danger around her. You have nothing to really cheer for. (And the actress that played Katniss has obviously never been starving)
So again, can anyone explain why are the kids soooo hyped about a sad sick silly little tale?
*Just a correlation of tales where it seems the parents don't care all that much about their kids.
Since I could not use this in an earlier theme I was wonder where it would come in, I did enjoy this frame set up 2 inch by 2 inch, highlights the arrow Katniss shots in the 2nd of the Hunger Games to shatter the dome. Funny how there is so much chatter about domes, seeing the glitch and it was all in the book years before.

Les Espaces d'Abraxas is a high-density housing complex in Noisy-le-Grand, approximately 12 km from Paris, France. The building was designed by architect Ricardo Bofill in 1978, during a period of increased urbanisation across France after World War II. It has been used as a backdrop in film and TV, including in Brazil (1985), The Hunger Games (2015) and Arcadia (2023).

As it turns out, may hair is a bit too layered to pull of the Katniss braid, but that didn't stop me from sporting her Reaping braids when we went to see The Hunger Games yesterday.

I am not used to photographing abandoned places, so it was a little creepy doing so!
I have a new website now. Please have a look.
I didn't really like the other portrait so I just dicided to use a photo of Katness from Hunger Games. Btw I love the movies and especially the books!

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
They strung up a man
They say who murdered three
Strange things have happened here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight in the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Where dead man called out
For his love to flee
Strange things have happened here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight in the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Where I told you to run
So we'd both be free
Strange things have happened here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight in the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Wear a necklace of hope
Side by side with me
Strange things have happened here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight in the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Where I told you to run
So we'd both be free
Strange things have happened here
