Entrance Hall of the newly opened Humboldt Forum, photographed from the tribune on the first floor. The Humboldt Forum (named after the Prussian scholars Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt), built between 2012 and 2020 on the site of the Berlin Palace (which, after World War II, had been torn down and replaced by the Palast der Republik – the former seat of the GDR government), is an architectural mix of "historical and modern". Its façade is a replica of the baroque Berlin Palace, while the interior has been newly designed by Italian architect Franco Stella. The Humboldt Forum houses the non-European collections from the Berlin State Museums, the (temporary?) exhibition "Berlin Global", and it will also be used for different events. Btw., that organic shaped thing on the left is a construct made of several projection surfaces that display all kinds of informations, regarding Berlin's history, for instance, but not at the moment I took the photo ;)

Back in 2015, after the topping out ceremony, the Humboldt Forum's shell construction had been opened for the public for one weekend. I've included an imaged I'd taken back then from almost the same spot as I've taken this photo from, you can find it in the first comment (and for more photos of that 2015 event, please see my album), I think it's an interesting "then and now" comparison. My new photo is an HDR made from three images, processed in HDR Efex. I've also bumped up the clarity, so it would match the look of my 2015 photo (I've only used LR back then).

Humboldt Penguin has a Conservation Status under the IUCN of Vulnerable www.iucnredlist.org/species/22697817/182714418

This Humboldt Penguin shows the substantial bill of the species. These birds have spines on the tongue, used to grasp prey (mainly fish) obtained in dives that can go to over 50 metres deep.

This bird and several others were observed from the water, quite high up on cliffs of a small island near the fishing community of Pucusana, south of Lima, Peru, South America.

Humboldt Penguin has a Conservation Status under the IUCN of Vulnerable www.iucnredlist.org/species/22697817/182714418

The Humboldt Penguin is found all along the coast of Peru except for the far north (and off much of Chile except for the far south). A report by the IUCN published in 2018 gave the entire population as only 32,000 and declining; the species is rated Vulnerable on the Red List.

Both the bird species and the ocean current are named after famed naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt.

(The two birds below the penguins are Inca Terns: see www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/52459642180/in... and www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/52459468994/in... for more images of this species.)

These Humboldt Penguins were seen from a small boat on a trip around an island about one square kilometre in area near the fishing community of Pucusana, south of Lima, Peru, South America.

Coastal Humboldt County, California, a land of fog, evergreens, and improbable prairies.

I find the vibrant greens offset by the somber grays to be quite beautiful. I also love the desolation of the place.

The Humboldt penguin is a South American penguin living mainly in the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve in the North of Chile, although its habitat comprises most of coastal Peru. Its nearest relatives are the African penguin, the Magellanic penguin and the Galápagos penguin.....ThIs one was seen in the Zoo at Sewerby Hall and Gardens in East Yorkshirel

The Humboldt penguin is a top predator endemic to the west coast of South America.

The Humboldt penguin's breeding distribution ranges from southern Chile along the dry and arid coastal regions of the Atacama Desert to subtropical Isla Foca in north Peru. Its range is restricted to the coast and offshore islands affected by the Humboldt current, which provides a continuous supply of nutrients and food, thus supporting huge populations of seabird. In Chile, the most important breeding colony is at Isla Chañaral
