Hey Mr. Seeker
Hold on to this advice
If you keep seeking you will find
Don't want to follow
Down roads been walked before
So hard to fine unopened doors
Are you ready?
Are you ready?
Hey Mr. Hero
Walking a thin, fine line
Under the microscope of life
Remember your roots, my friend
They're right down below
'Cause heroes come and heroes go
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one
Count down to the change in life that's soon to come
Your life has just begun
“Well I just heard the news today. It seems my life is going to change. I closed my eyes, begin to pray then tears of joy stream down my face. With arms wide open, Under the sunlight…”
With Arms Wide Open: Creed, Human Clay
Sigh… when this song came out and the stories surrounding the composition and recording of it, the world seemed to melt. Scott Stapp’s a romantic I’ll give anyone that, but the stories sickened me to tears. They sickened me because my “best friend” and my wife’s affair just came out of the shadows, and this was one of his favorite songs. I could just imagine him singing this to her and it just made my insides writhe and boil over. So why is this on my list?
This song is on my list because it was a step in the process of healing and mending. Healing from hurts isn’t about revenge… it’s about forgiving. It’s about turning the other cheek and letting God, fate, karma, justice, and life come in and kick ass in your name. I had a hard road of travels before I arrived at the land of forgiveness, but when I did I could enjoy this song for what it was and what it was about.
Karma’s a wonderful thing… that’s all I can say!!

Love letter in the sand.
Lyrics:
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I'll show you everything ...oh yeah
With arms wide open..wide open
If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
With arms wide open...
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I'll show you everything..oh yeah
With arms wide open....wide open
“I can't sleep beneath the trees of wisdom, when your axe has cut the roots that feed them.”
What If: Creed, Human Clay
I have always loved this song…. The slow melodic intro, the slight build in momentum, and then Mark Tremonti’s guitar just rips open the harmonics and the song explodes with power, anger and a little bit of rage. I have always loved songs that run with such movements, taking you from zero to 90 in 0.5 seconds!
I can relate to a lot of the words in this song, especially in the manner of which Scott Stapp sings them… a bit of heated anger. Revenge, anger, vengeance? All in a day’s work for so many around us. The band often speaks of love and peace- harmony and spiritual bonds. But just like everything in the world, there is an opposite of it, and this song is their lyrical antithesis.
We’ve all had moment of rage and anger- frustration and hurt, where all we want to do is lash back and release. For me, I would bury myself into a very, very loud playing of this song- often repeatedly… and I’d feel better. Visually in this song I love the notion of someone cutting the trees of wisdom- especially when it is the very anger we have inside that that breaks down wisdom.
Lyrics:
I can't find the rhyme in all my reason
I've lost sense of time and all seasons
I feel I've been beaten down
By the words of men who have no grounds
I can't sleep beneath the trees of wisdom
When your ax has cut the roots that feed them
Forked tongues in bitter mouths
Can drive a man to bleed from inside out
What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?
I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine
Destroy the man who lacks a strong mind
Human pride sings a vengeful song
Inspired by the times you've been walked on
My stage is shared by many millions
Who lift their hands up high because they feel this
We are one We are strong
The more you hold us down the more we press on
What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?
I know I can't hold the hate inside my mind
'Cause what consumes your thoughts controls your life
So I'll just ask a question
A lonely simple question
I'll just ask one question
What if
What if I
What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?
What if your words could be judged like a crime?

Comment: "Jianhua's poetry needs good poetry (better than anything I can write). Everything else falls short. Jianhua's work is seeped in heritage and porcelain has an interesting history in England and aren't we just so enarmoured with porcelain and ceramics just now? I loved his 'Untitled 2012', a set of eight ceramic discs. " - FaSa.
