This one deserved a U-turn and going back to capture! I think it's been there for a long time, but it's funny, the last time we went to Harper's Ferry, taking the same roads, I never noticed it! LOL
........
Como yo la esperé, también mi choza
con su alma sin vida la esperó;
y la ausente –esperanza vagabunda–
para hacerme poeta retornó.
Fue la fiesta galante de mi choza
cuando a la viajera recibió;
hubo entre sus tabiques alegría,
de su techo la dicha descendió.
Cuando la vida era sólo espasmo
y gemido y protesta y conmoción,
de las blancas paredes de mi choza
un himno a su belleza se elevó:
epitalamio para el rito oculto
y aleluya triunfal para el amor!

Chicago Great Western FP7 116 was on display in the Hub City in 1995. At the time, it was looking fantastic but over the years the paint deteriorated to the point that it needed to be repainted.
When it underwent repainting, it received the later simpler solid maroon paint.

This scene captures the vibrant essence of Mechelen, a historic city in Belgium, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and cultural significance. The buildings along this pedestrian street showcase traditional Flemish architecture with ornate facades and intricate gables, reflecting the city's rich history. Mechelen was an important center of art and politics during the Renaissance period and retains its charm through these architectural gems, which blend Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance styles.
Economically, Mechelen thrives as a hub of trade and tourism. The bustling street in the image is lined with cafes and shops, indicating the city's reliance on local and international visitors. Historically, the city played a significant role in the cloth trade during the Middle Ages, and this legacy continues as Mechelen markets itself as a destination for unique crafts, jewelry, and artisanal goods. Today, its vibrant local economy combines traditional industries with modern business opportunities.
Culinary traditions are also highlighted in Mechelen's street life. The cafes seen in the image represent Belgium's renowned love for gastronomy. Visitors can enjoy regional specialties like Mechelen's famous 'cuckoo' chicken, paired with Belgian fries, or indulge in craft beers brewed locally. Dessert lovers often find themselves enchanted by the city's assortment of waffles, chocolates, and pastries, all of which are easily accessible in this lively district.
Overall, this street scene encapsulates the essence of Mechelen as a harmonious blend of history, culture, and modernity. The cobblestone square at the forefront evokes a sense of timelessness, while the vibrant activity and colorful shopfronts signal a city alive with energy. Mechelen’s charm lies in its ability to bridge the past and present seamlessly, offering both residents and tourists a rich and diverse experience.

Hub of an old ship's propeller of the "Cap San Diego". The "Cap San Diego" is still a seaworthy museum ship (built in 1961) and is moored at the Überseebrücke in the Port of Hamburg.
When the Alcan Highway consisted of 1,500 miles of very rough dirt road - many vehicles lost their hub caps and never knew it. If you visit the village of Champagne - (located on the original roadbed that is now by-passed.) - you will see this impressive display when you reach the small settlement. Don't bother asking if you can buy any of them, because as the sign clearly states - they are not for sale.
If you enlarge this photo - you just may spot one you lost many long years ago.

The new creation, named The Weaving Wall (TWW), carries the vision of engaging various stakeholders within the community. The Weaving Wall combines a vast array of mediums including literature, visual arts, weaving art, and performing art to navigate and tell the story of Hong Kong textiles.
Drawing and distilling inspiration from 'The Memory of Herbs', the first part of The Trilogy of Women Workers written by Chan Wai and created by The Mills, The Weaving Wall is embedded upon this pilot part of the literature series as the blueprint for creation. As early as 2017, The Mills' CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) and the House of Hong Kong Literature jointly curated and invited the renowned local writer, Chan Wai, to craft stories of women workers set against the backdrop of Tsuen Wan and Hong Kong's textile history. This time, The Mills has invited visual artist Flyingpig and the weaving art team Breakthrough Arts Studio and embroidery artist Dream a Little Dream Embroidery joining forces with the community to paint and weave, presenting the past and present of the community before everyone's eyes. Flyingpig's artwork portrays the sentiments, appearances, and everyday life of the Tsuen Wan district. Evolving from a barren land to becoming a textile hub in Hong Kong, familiar landscapes gradually become unfamiliar, yet many individuals have grasped opportunities to shine here in this place. The place has expanded in scale, experiencing ups and downs. This place named after some distinct strands of herbs, however, hold only ample space to store our hearts. The visual artists use heartfelt brushstrokes to outline the lives of the women workers penned by Chan Wai.

The Hub by Bishopsteignton Outdoor Art Group (BOAG): "The post-apocalypse survivors' encampment was made from 1,500 hub caps, the remnants of a greenhouse, found chicken wire, donated fabric and other recycled materials. Many hub caps were collected from the wayside as road 'spin offs" (see: www.trail.org.uk/cboag.htm).
Part of the Trail Recycled Art In Landscape (TRAIL) sculpture trail on the south Devon coast between Shaldon and Dawlish. "Trail is an unique mix of professional artist and artist led community groups, an event that is continuously evolving with performance, literary and visual arts coming together exploring environmental issues" (see: www.trail.org.uk/).

The last time I shot from this exact spot was 2012, but last night it occured to me on the way home when I noticed this tower was illuminated, which is rare these days.
Remarking on this building back in 2012 as a New Town resident, I said: "It's a favourite of mine, perhaps only because it's always in constant familiar view." Well, nowadays it's always in familiar view too, due to working in the area rather than living in it.
Aiming to get back up on a nearby roof which has a great view of this tower from the other side. Soon. Shame this isn't a functioning church any longer - imagine having keys to THAT tower and getting to pop up anytime you wanted!
