Es war ein harziger Fußballnachmittag in der Südstadt: Die Admira Juniors kamen gegen den abgeschlagenen Ostliga-Letzten aus Simmering erst nach der Pause auf Touren und drehten einen 0:1-Rückstand noch in ein 3:1 um. Die Gäste waren gegen die lange pomadig auftretenden Admiraner durch Steigberger nach 12 Minuten in Führung gegangen, ehe der eingewechselte Burusic durch einen Foulelfmeter (52.) und einen fulminanten Weitschuss (66.) die Partie umdrehte. Sulimani stellte vier Minuten vor Schluss den Endstand her. Die Südstädter bleiben damit weiter seit dem 14. September des Vorjahres ungeschlagen, Simmering im Frühjahr weiter ohne Sieg. Selten waren die Ausgangspositionen einer Ostliga-Partie so klar: Die Admira Juniors seit 19 Spielen ohne Niederlage, Simmering im Frühjahr noch ohne Sieg. Diese Affiche dürften die Heimischen etwas zu leicht genommen haben, Sulimanis leichtfertiger Schuss übers Tor nach fünf Minuten weist schon auf eine etwas laxe Einstellung hin.
Bezeichnend auch die Gästeführung: Djuricic kann links durchs Mittelfeld laufen und Steigberger anspielen, der findet sich eigentlich widerstandslos vor Goalie Leitner wieder und vollendet (12.). Nicht nur der nach einem Zweikampf zuvor benommene Pöllhuber stand da völlig neben sich.
Die Admira auch nach dem Rückstand weiter sehr pomadig, vor allem die Kampfmannschafts Leihgaben Pöllhuber, Gremsl und Sulimani eine einzige Enttäuschung. Lediglich der quirrlige Sax hält etwas dagegen, wird bei der einzigen Admira-Chance vor Seitenwechsel aber noch abgeblockt (33.). Auf der anderen Seite produziert Pöllhuber mit dem Pausenpfiff fast noch ein Eigentor.
Zwei Umstellungen bei der Admira zur Pause, vor allem die Hereinnahme von Standardspezialist Burusic sollte sich noch auswirken. Nach 51 Minuten hackt der wie so viele Simmeringer in dieser Liga völlig überforderte Saimler Sulimani im Strafraum um, Burusic verwandelt den Elfer ohne Probleme. Auf der Gegenseite bleibt eine Strafraumattacke von Posch an Orman ungeahndet, bei harmlosen Zweikämpfen im Mittelfeld war Schiri Zinkl eher zu Pfiffen aufgelegt.
Die Heimischen, nach der Pause wesentlich spritziger und schneller, stellen nach 66 Minuten die Weichen auf Sieg: Pöllhuber bringt einen Simmering-Abschlag schnell wieder in die Spitze, von Sax springt der Ball zu Burusic, der mit einem herrlichen Bogenschuss aus 20 Metern trifft.
Die Admira findet danach wesentlich mehr Freiräume vor, die Simmeringer geben sich aber nicht auf, Kurka knallt jedoch die einzige Ausgleichschance vom Sechzehner in die Botanik. Vier Minuten vor Schluss nimmt sich Sulimani dann einen weiten Posch-Pass mit der Hand mit, und trifft trotz Markovic’ Freistileinlage zum Endstand.
Admira damit in 20 Spielen ungeschlagen, heute agierte man aber vor der Pause pfui und danach auch nicht gerade hui…

Windsor Castle is a medieval castle and royal residence in Windsor in the English county of Berkshire, notable for its long association with the British royal family and for its architecture. I was driving to a meeting and looked in my rear view mirror to see the sun just beginning to peak over the top of Mt. Garfield... by the time that I pulled over and stepped out of my truck the utter, pure magic of the moment had passed. I like this image... but is a pale comparison of what I saw just moments before.

ASV Vösendorf besiegt FCM Traiskirchen knapp mit 1:0. Aktas erzielt nach einem Corner, das entscheidende Tor. Traiskirchen hat über 90 Minuten keine wirkliche Torchance.
Der ASV Vösendorf besiegt Traiskirchen daheim mit 1:0 und stößt damit in der Tabelle bis auf Rang 8 vor. Beid den Gästen war Koch nach seiner Verletzung, wieder von Beginn an mit von der Partie. "Trotzdem haben wir in der Offensive nichts zusammengebracht", bringt es Traiskirchen Coach Marcus Schlosser gleich auf den Punkt.
Frühe Führung für die Hausherren: Die Vösendorfer erwischten in diesem Match, einen Auftakt nach Maß. Nach nicht einmal zehn Minuten, netzte Ismet Aktas(8') aus kurzer Distanz ein, nachdem ein abgefälschter Corner Richtung Mitte segelte, wo der Vösendorf-Akteur völlig allein zum frühen 1:0 einschieben konnte. "Wir haben dann versucht, Fußball zu spielen und über spielerische Mittel zum Erfolg zu kommen", sagt Schlosser. Die Gäste erarbeiteten sich zwar eine leichte Feldüberlegenheit, Zählbares schaute dabei aber nicht heraus.
Traiskirchen ideenlos: Der ASV Vösendorf verlagerte sich immer mehr auf das Konterspiel und konzentrierte sich auf eine kompakte Defensive und dagegen fanden die Gäste keine Mittel. Die Traiskirchner agierten über weite Strecken ideenlos und konnten sich über 90 Minuten, keine wirkliche Torchance herausspielen. Beinahe hätte es aber dennoch geklappt, die abgerissene Flanke vom eingewechselten Uzun ging allerdings nur an die Latte. Die Hausherren blieben auf der anderen Seite im Konter stets gefährlich, verabsäumten es aber, frühzeitig für die Entscheidung zu sorgen. "Zum Schluss ist diese Niederlage nicht unverdient. Wir hatten über die 90 Minuten keine herausgespielte Chance. Es hat die letzte Konsequenz gefehlt", resümiert Traiskirchen Trainer Schlosser.
Fazit: Traiskirchen bleibt auch in der zweiten Frühjahrsrunde ohne Torerfolg. Vösendorf steht hinten kompakt und sammelt so, drei wichtige Punkte im Kampf gegen den Abstieg. "Eigentlich hat es bei uns in der Vorbereitung sehr gut funktioniert. durch den zwischenzeitlichen Ausfall von Koch sind wir etwas aus dem Rythmus gekommen", sucht Schlosser nach einer Erklärung für die Torflaute.

Els Jardins de la Tamarita van ser dissenyats l'any 1918 per Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí per encàrrec d'Alfred Mata, propietari de la finca.

Placeta dels Quatre Continents: En aquesta placeta hi ha quatre escultures, tres d'elles representen Àfrica, Amèrica i Àsia, la quarta representa un general romà, sembla que aquí hi hauria d'haver la d'Europa. Són obra de Virginio Arias.
Després de la Guerra Civil la finca va ser abandonada. El 1993 va passar a ser propietat pública, entre 1993 i 1995 es va acometre una reforma en profunditat, i el 1995 els Jardins de la Tamarita van obrir-se al públic.

Los Jardines de la Tamarita fueron diseñados en 1918 por Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí por encargo de Alfred Mata, propietario de la finca.
Texto del panel de la entrada: "El origen de estos jardines está en una finca adquirida a principios del siglo XX por el industrial del algodón Alfred Mata, que edificó una casa señorial rodeada de jardines, cuyo diseño se 'atribuye al arquitecto y paisajista Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí. Plazuela de los Cuatro Continentes: En esta plaza hay cuatro esculturas, tres de ellas representan África, América y Asia, la cuarta representa un general romano, parece que aquí debería haber la de Europa. Son obra de Virginio Arias.
Tras la Guerra Civil la finca fue abandonada. En 1993 pasó a ser propiedad pública, entre 1993 y 1995 se acometió una reforma en profundidad, y en 1995 los Jardines de la Tamarita abrieron al público.

Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. Constructed between 1931 and 1936, during the Great Depression, it was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over 100 lives. In bills passed by Congress during its construction, it was referred to as the Hoover Dam, after President Herbert Hoover, but was named Boulder Dam by the Roosevelt administration. In 1947, the name Hoover Dam was restored by Congress.
Since about 1900, the Black Canyon and nearby Boulder Canyon had been investigated for their potential to support a dam that would control floods, provide irrigation water, and produce hydroelectric power. In 1928, Congress authorized the project. The winning bid to build the dam was submitted by a consortium named Six Companies, Inc., which began construction in early 1931. Such a large concrete structure had never been built before, and some of the techniques used were unproven. The torrid summer weather and lack of facilities near the site also presented difficulties. Nevertheless, Six Companies turned the dam over to the federal government on March 1, 1936, more than two years ahead of schedule.
Hoover Dam impounds Lake Mead and is located near Boulder City, Nevada, a municipality originally constructed for workers on the construction project, about 30 mi (48 km) southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The dam's generators provide power for public and private utilities in Nevada, Arizona, and California. Hoover Dam is a major tourist attraction, with 7 million tourists a year. The heavily traveled U.S. Route 93 (US 93) ran along the dam's crest until October 2010, when the Hoover Dam Bypass opened.

85 years after its completion, Hoover dam is still considered an engineering marvel. It is named in honor of President Herbert Hoover, who played a crucial role in its creation.
For many years, residents of the American southwest sought to tame the unpredictable Colorado River. Disastrous floods during the early 1900’s led residents of the area to look to the federal government for aid, and experiments with irrigation on a limited scale had shown that this arid region could be transformed into fertile cropland, if only the river could be controlled. The greatest obstacle to the construction of such a dam was the allocation of water rights among the seven states comprising the Colorado River drainage basin. Meetings were held in 1918, 1919 and 1920, but the states could not reach a consensus.
Herbert Hoover had visited the Lower Colorado region in the years before World War I and was familiar with its problems and the potential for development. Upon becoming Secretary of Commerce in 1921, Hoover proposed the construction of a dam on the Colorado River. In addition to flood control and irrigation, it would provide a dependable supply of water for Los Angeles and Southern California. The project would be self-supporting, recovering its cost through the sale of hydroelectric power generated by the dam.
In 1921, the state legislatures of the Colorado River basin authorized commissioners to negotiate an interstate agreement. Congress authorized President Harding to appoint a representative for the federal government to serve as chair of the Colorado River Commission and on December 17, 1921, Harding appointed Hoover to that role.
When the commission assembled in Santa Fe in November 1922, the seven states still disagreed over the fair distribution of water. The upstream states feared that the downstream states, with their rapidly developing agricultural and power demands, would quickly preempt rights to the water by the “first in time, first in right” doctrine. Hoover suggested a compromise that the water be divided between the upper and lower basins without individual state quotas. The resulting Colorado River Compact was signed on November 24, 1922. It split the river basin into upper and lower halves with the states within each region deciding amongst themselves how the water would be allocated.
A series of bills calling for Federal funding to build the dam were introduced by Congressman Phil D. Swing and Senator Hiram W. Johnson between 1922 and 1928, all of which were rejected. The last Swing-Johnson bill, titled the Boulder Canyon Project Act, was largely written by Hoover and Secretary of the Interior Hubert Work. Congress finally agreed, and the bill was signed into law on December 21, 1928 by President Coolidge. The dream was about to become reality.
On June 25, 1929, less than four months after his inauguration, President Herbert Hoover signed a proclamation declaring the Colorado River Compact effective at last. Appropriations were approved and construction began in 1930. The dam was dedicated in 1935 and the hydroelectric generators went online in 1937. In 1947, Congress officially "restored" Hoover's name to the dam, after FDR's Secretary of the Interior tried to remove it. Hoover Dam was built for a cost of $49 million (approximately $1 billion adjusted for inflation). The power plant and generators cost an additional $71 million, more than the cost of the dam itself. The sale of electrical power generated by the dam paid back its construction cost, with interest, by 1987.
Today the Hoover Dam controls the flooding of the Colorado River, irrigates more than 1.5 million acres of land, and provides water to more than 16 million people. Lake Mead supports recreational activities and provides habitats to fish and wildlife. Power generated by the dam provides energy to power over 500,000 homes. The Hoover Compromise still governs how the water is shared.

Calanda celebró desde el viernes 21 al domingo 23 de marzo 2014, la XXIX Edición de las Jornadas Nacionales de Exaltación del Tambor y el Bombo. El pregonero fue el cantautor Luis Eduardo Aute
Estas jornadas se celebran cada año en uno de los 22 pueblos que conforman el Consorcio Nacional de los Pueblos del Tambor, integrado por localidades de cinco Comunidades Autónomas dónde la Semana Santa se centra en el toque del tambor y el bombo, y que son las siguientes: los nueve pueblos turolenses que a su vez constituyen la Ruta del Tambor y el Bombo --Albalate del Arzobispo, Alcañiz, Alcorisa, Andorra, Calanda, Híjar, La Puebla de Híjar, Samper de Calanda y Urrea de Gaén; la ciudad de Teruel, Valderrobres, Alagón y Fuentes de Ebro, también de Aragón; las localidades valencianas de L'Alcora y Alzira; Baena, de Andalucía; Moratalla, Jumilla y Mula, de la Región de Murcia; y Agramón, Hellín y Tobarra de Castilla-La Mancha.A la cita, cuyo principal objetivo es el hermanamiento entre las 22 localidades con una cultura común, se esperan más de 1.500 participantes que durante todo el fin de semana harán sonar sus tambores y bombos por todas las calles de la población.Desde el Ayuntamiento de Calanda se lleva más de un año trabajando en la organización de las Jornadas, que comenzarán esta tarde con el pregón de Luis Eduardo Aute.Luis Eduardo Aute guarda una estrecha relación con el pueblo de Calanda y ha colaborado en varias ocasiones con el Centro 'Luis Buñuel'. También ha dedicado la canción 'Allí (un perro Calandaluz)' a Buñuel y al pueblo de Calanda en su último trabajo 'Intemperie', CAPITAL DEL TAMBOR Y EL BOMBO. Calanda se convierte estos días en la capital del tambor y el bombo. El acto central de las Jornadas tendrá lugar el sábado por la noche, en el que, emulando el acto de Romper la Hora que todos los años se celebra en el mediodía de Viernes Santo en Calanda, los cientos de tamborileros convocados en la Plaza de España romperán el silencio haciendo tocar al unísono sus tambores y bombos, para dar lugar posteriormente a una larga noche de redobles.La Comarca del Bajo Aragón, la Diputación de Teruel y el Gobierno de Aragón colaboran económicamente en la celebración de las Jornadas y se prevé una importante repercusión económica en la localidad, sobre todo en el sector de la hostelería y restauración, así como en los comercios de la población.Las Jornadas de Calanda se celebran en el que puede ser el año más importante para el Consorcio de los Pueblos del Tambor desde su fundación, hace más de 30 años, ya que será el año en el que las tamborradas de los pueblos que lo integran obtengan el reconocimiento de Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad por parte de la UNESCO.
