It was a theme she had
On a scheme he had
Told in a foreign land
To take life on earth
To the second birth
And the man was in
Command
It was a flight on the wings
Of a young girls dreams
That flew too far away
And we could make the monster live again
Oh hands move and heart beat on
Now life will return in this electric storm
A prophecy for a fantasy
The curse of a vivid mind
Don't push too far
Your Dreams are china in your hand
Don't wish too hard
Because they may come true
And you can't help them
You don't know what you might
Have set upon yourself
China in your hand
Come from greed
Never born of the seed
Took life from a barren hand
On eyes wide
Like a child in the form of a man
A story told
A mind of his own
An omen for our time
We take a flight on the wings of fantasy
Then you push too far
And make your dreams reality
Yeah! china in your hand
But they're only dreams
And you shouldn't push too far

This was taken on a section of Starvationcreek in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge that usually gets passed over.
On my way back to the car (in an attempt to get out of the rain) i decided to take a quick peek and I saw a couple spots that were right up my alley. If you've viewed my photostream you know that these small creek scenes are some of my favorites. To this day I'm trying to figure out exactly why???? Thanks for having a look.

brings the tally to something around 56 cameras.
most cameras seen here were thrifted. the majority cost $1 or less.
in cases. and the ones i use are on a shelf.
i don't want to pay for film any more. i don't want to buy $7 batteries to use in cameras that cost $1 a shot.
i know i can get film for all of the cameras [except the polaroid roll film, that's the only one dead. the sx-70 pack can be modified, etc]
if i happen to find polaroid 600 film for a quarter a pack, then hell ya.
in the mean time, i'm goin digital and stockpiling film cameras for fun.

It had been a while since I experienced snow in the winter. A recent trip to the Sierras brought back memories of snowy winters spent on the East Coast, helped me recharge my batteries and provided me a much needed chance to dust the cobwebs off of my cameras. The snow covered landscapes were such a joy! In this scene, shot with my DJI Mini 3 pro, I was drawn by the contrast of the white snow on the ground against the warm light of the setting sun shining on the tree tops on the side of the mountains
The Louvre Pyramid (Pyramide du Louvre) is a large glass and metal pyramid, surrounded by three smaller pyramids, in the main courtyard (Cour Napoléon) of the Louvre Palace (Palais du Louvre) in Paris.
The large pyramid serves as the main entrance to the Louvre Museum. Completed in 1989, it has become a landmark of the city of Paris. The construction of the pyramid triggered considerable controversy because many people felt that the futuristic edifice looked quite out of place in front of the Louvre Museum with its classical architecture.
During the design phase, there was a proposal that the design include a spire on the pyramid to simplify window washing. This proposal was eliminated because of objections from I. M. Pei. Source: en.wikipedia.org

ALL MY PHOTOS ARE NOW ON SALE!
I've been hanging out with folks in the Polaroid scene, past six months or so. Some of 'em have YouTube pages, or podcasts, followings. They've been at it for five years, or seven years, some folks are new to it, some folks are older, some are younger.
I'll be talking to them, worker among workers, that's how I like to describe it, how I try to think about myself when I'm hanging out with other artists.
Then I'll pull this image out of the archives to talk about here and realize it was fifteen fucking years ago...and at that point I'd already been taking photos seriously for five years? That I've been at this a long goddamn time! And I'm not tired of it!
Lot's changed, so much. At the time of this photo, I was living in a tiny apartment (albeit in a great neighborhood, with some fun neighbors), I was driving an old old car that had over 300,000 miles on it, I probably had a month's worth of rent in the bank, if that.
But I'd met so many people online, I had friends coming out my ears.
I didn't have all I wanted, but I had what I needed. I was very lucky. Maybe that's one of the biggest lessons of my twenty year journey: Make as many friends as possible. Meet people as much as you're able. Put yourself out there, no matter how shy you feel you are.
Everyone involved in this photo was someone I met because I was crazy online. Messaging people, texting people, IMing people, talking to people, commenting on other people's photos, talking to people, that was really my main hobby. Photography was a side benefit to all the people I've gotten to hang out with.
This photo, much as I like it (why did I wait 15 years to post it????), this is nothing compared to the great time we had, that day. The good times are waiting for us all...

Defferrari

Defferrari
Defferrari is a railway station, located in the San Cayetano Party, in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was an important station of the Ferrocarril del Sud, as a point of connection of branches coming from Tres Arroyos, Tandil, Necochea and Coronel Dorrego. Classified as first class, it operated in the traffic of passengers, parcels, cargo and treasury and provided telegraphic service, and with the nationalization of the railways in 1946, it became part of the General Roca Railroad network. In its surroundings, 30 houses were built for railway personnel and their families, a house for single or transient personnel, and warehouses for locomotives depot and service. In the 1950s it reached 120 workers.
It no longer provides services, and the old facilities were in 2008 in very poor condition.
The branch line from Lobería to Barrow is granted to the freight company Ferrosur Roca
It owes its name to Dr Luis DeFerrari
Here's the link to my post in the Flickr forum about today's changes. Of the current 4,459 comments, with more being added, 99.99% are negative. What in the world was Flickr thinking???
EDIT, 5/29/13. Here's my post in the new forum thread.
Notes: Many of the features previously more easily visible can now be accessed by clicking on You (in the top line menu) and on the three dots (on the right-hand side of the page). And if you want to see your photostream against a white background but lacking the links to Collections and EXIF data that used to appear on the right-hand side, click Edit.
New Note: A just realized that when you go to someone's photostream and mouse over photos, if photos have more than 99 views or more than 99 favorites, all that shows is "99+". And when you go to the photo, it shows the actual numbers of views but not the actual number of faves. I administer a group called Worth a Million Words Pix (which as then co-administrator, I inherited when imapix died), the qualifications for which are a minimum of 1,000 views and 100 faves. Instead of freezing the group in place, I'm just going to assume that 99+ means at least 100, so a photo would still be eligible for invitation into the group. But it's ridiculous not to know how many actual faves a photo has received.
New Note 2: A new horrible loss I just noticed: If you click on a Set (e.g., my set for Zoe Bear), the only part of the description of the set that shows is the first line. That is just a tiny fraction of my description, and the rest of it can now be seen only by going into Collections > the collection in which you think you added the set > Zoe Bear (for example) > Edit. But the description is visible to yourself only. The same holds true for any set for which people have created descriptions longer than a single line.
Okay, Edit to New Note 2, with thanks to annkelliot: When you go to a set and hover the mouse over the end of that single-line description, a box appears with the rest of the description. That's a relief! But like almost everything on the new Flickr, one must search for what used to be immediately visible and user friendly and intuitive.
EDIT, 5/22/13. As you can see in this replaced image, I've decided to stay here and not migrate all my photos to, say, Ipernity. I'm also on Facebook and Google Plus and 500px, but as I've said before, Flickr is my home. It is where I began my life in social media and where I have learned so much from you and have been inspired by you and have become friends with so many of you. I hope many of you will also choose to stay here.
EDIT #2, 5/22/13. Last night I participated in (my first) Google hangout about the new Flickr changes. It was moderated by blogger and old-time Flickr user, Thomas Hawk. I think the participants in the hangout were among the few who like the new format. Certainly about 99% of the 17,350+ who so far have commented in the Flickr help forum thread do not like the changes at all.
EDIT #3, 5/26/13. Three useful tips from lucycat (who hasn't posted here since May 2) that I found on her Facebook page:
1) If you go to someone else's photostream, you can just add '?details=1' to the end of that URL, and you have the old layout, though without any sets [or collections or summary EXIF data. It's the same layout you get when you click Edit on your own photo].
2) Once you're in a Set, click on the white balloon on the right side of the toolbar; that takes you to a different page where you can click on "Details" and that gets you an old-style layout for the set, complete with pages.
3) Do everything in a new tab, and close the tab when you're done. If you navigate out of a photo you will be dropped back in New Flickr mishmash hell.
EDIT #4, 5/30/13: This is what Flickr staffer Thea Lamkin wrote on the forum thread: "To put an end to speculation, and to hopefully give some people closure, the old site is not coming back. However, we will continue to improve upon the new pages, from their usability to their overall performance. These changes will be made according to a balance of qualitative feedback and data, both of which we are monitoring closely."
EDIT #5, 7/1/13. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, suddenly there appeared a Yahoo toolbar on top of the Flickr toolbar, a design monstrosity and something akin to advertising (or at least promotion), to which as a Pro member I'm not supposed to be subjected.
Here's an interesting article.
This is a particularly good article outlining Flickr's history and where it might go from here. Beware: The language is not family friendly.

Oh silly fame, why do you play
frame by frame, day by day
With reels changing over
and dropping to the sides
Oh, solemn soul see where you are
and look to the sides what you discard
Press your lips to mine, breathe in deep and lie
When the cameras roll, hide away your soul
Flash your eyes, forge a smile, entertain
But don't get stuck in something you hate
Bring me the eyes of the earth
Cut off the tongue of the world
Keep the ends close in sight to the means that imply
You're not living the life that you're worth

I didn't have a plan or anything in mind when I took a drive to shoot but I'm actually satisfied with how this turned out. Save for the part where my skirts blend into the mountains, but I actually kind of like it. It just sort of fit the mood I was in at the time of editing.

Oh no-there`s got to be a better way
Say it again
There`s got to be a better way-yeah
What is it good for?
War has caused unrest
Among the younger generation
Induction then destruction
Who wants to die?
War-huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War-huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Yeah
War-I despise
`Cos it means destruction
Of innocent lives
War means tears
To thousands of mothers how
When their sons go off to fight
And lose their lives
I said
War-huh
It`s an enemy of all mankind
No point of war
`Cos you`re a man
Give it to me one time-now
Give it to me one time-now
War has shattered
Many young men`s dreams
We`ve got no place for it today
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But Lord, there`s just got to be a better way
It ain`t nothing but a heartbreaker
War
Friend only to the undertaker
War
War
War-Good God, now
Now
Give it to me one time now
Now now
What is it good for?

e, perchè no...:
- - -
Salvatore Cambosu - Miele amaro
