Okay okay, the girly over-the-top part of me would say: NO, there is never too much pink!
I myself don't have much stuff in pink, but I'm always so envious of girls who can pull off the cute candy pink look without it looking so sweet that your teeth will spontaneously start to rot.
The realistic take-a-good-look-in-the-mirror who-do-you-think-you-are part of me would say: YES, there is such a thing as too much and you (meaning me) of all people should take care not to overdo it!
Anyway, internal debates aside, I thought I'd solve the issue by wearing a cute summer cocktail dress that's white with a cool pink pattern. What do you think? Faux-pas avoided? :-P
Of course, I gotta have high heels.. and the only pink heels I had in my collection were these peep-toe stilettos by Bershka. I got them in a sale for 10 euros a couple of months ago, just waiting for a summer evening and a dress like this. :)

Earlier this month, I visited the city of Amersfoort together with a friend to check out a museum and we ended the day at a social gathering. Lots of pics in the blog, but I wanted to post this one... last picture of the evening.
It is the only one where I'm not wearing my dotty tights because the weather gradually became sooo warm and humid. And it's the only shot of me in these particular heels.. which I wore just for the social gathering.
But I still ended up walking 2 kilometres in them!!! :P

This is another quick and dirty edit. I don't really have the time to spend much time editing lately so took about five minute to throw about 6 curve layers on here and a white balance shift. My favorite shot of the day is going to sit dormant for a while until I can figure out how to process it.
I spotted Charlie Widdis, local photographer and only other yahoo to brave the -12f this morning out on the rocks. The breakwater is completely exposed to the wind and damn it was chilly. I was hoping that there would be some seasmoke coming up over the breakwater but low tides combined with biting winds kept the smoke from really rising up in this area. To the right, the bay was filled with billowing smoke but no real interest.
Spent the morning playing with the telephoto to compress the smoke for a little more drama. I only popped the wide angle on for a few shots including this one. I always forget that just because you can't see something on your 2 inch lcd (in this case the seasmoke or lighthouse) doesn't mean that it won't turn out when viewed on a 27 inch monitor.
Interesting tidbit that I have now learned about walking on breakwaters in the winter over the last few days. Make sure you are probing where you step ahead of you. Not sure how many near disastrous steps I almost took into the crevices between the rocks.

Was sein Leben rettet, ist eine selbst weltweit äußerst seltene Blutgruppe ― Bombay-Blut.
Diejenige, die dieses Blut spenden kann, ist Anaya Patel, eine Community-Art-Facilitatorin aus Brooklyn.
Das Blut einer einzelnen Frau berührt das Schicksal einer Nation.
Dieser Zufall zieht sie, als wäre er vielleicht nie ein Zufall gewesen, nach und nach in das Zentrum eines gewaltigen Ereignisses.
Terrorismus, Wahlkampf, Einwanderung, Blut, Erinnerung, Gebet.

The person able to provide that blood is Anaya Patel, a community art facilitator working in Brooklyn.
The blood of one woman touches the fate of a nation.
That coincidence, as if it had never truly been coincidence, begins to draw her toward the center of an enormous event.

Those who believe in destruction, and those who have seen the emptiness left beyond it.
A plan that began as revenge gradually blurs the boundary between salvation and nothingness.
The night of Manhattan.

The city continues to shine as if nothing has happened.

父「ユウ、お母さんがユウはどこの大学に行きたいんだろうねって、ちょっと心配してたぞ」
ユウ「この前、言ったじゃん、マーチだよ、マーチ」
父、階下のお母さんへ声を張り上げる
「かーさーん、ユウは、マーチ受けるってよー」
母「マーチって、あのー、千葉商科大学のとなりにある東京マーチ大学？」
父「そうなのか？ ユウ？」
「たぶん、それじゃない」
父「違うってさー」
母「おかあさん、混乱しちゃうわー」
ユウ「ごめん、俺が言い方間違ったわ。明治大学。第一希望は」
父「かーさーんー」
母「はーいーー」
父「ユウは、明治大学受けるってさー」
母、それを聞いて、二階へ駆け上がってきて、
「おかあさん、その大学知ってるわー聞いたことあるー」
父、右手を胸の辺りで垂直に伸ばし、首を左右に振る。
「ジョーダンじゃないよー」
ユウ「は？」
父「ユウ、知らないのか？ お前、明治、遠ざかるぞ。たけちゃんマンは明治だ」
母「お父さん、なつかしー。サえてるー」
ユウ「。。。。。。。」
父「じゃ、これはどうだ？」
父、ギターのストロークを真似しながら、
「お、お、お、おー、ラーイドタイム！」
母「素敵ータツローねー」
ユウ「曲は知ってるけど、オンが抜けてるよ」
父「ユウ、そんな難しいことは考えるな」
ユウ「大事だろ、そこは」
母「おかあさん、うれしいわー、たけちゃんマンとタツローの後輩になるのね。ステキー」
父「お父さんも、うれしいぞー」窓をがらっと開けて、
「うちの子は、明治受けまーす！」
ユウ「やめろって。恥ずかしい。ちなみに受けるのは誰でもできるだろ」
父母、動きがストップ。
父「ユウ、大学って誰でも受けれるのか？ 母さん、そうなのか？」
母「そうみたいね」
父、また窓の外に向かって、
「明治大学は、だれでも受けれまーすっ！！」
ユウ「だからやめろって」
父「間違ったから訂正しとかないとな」
母「ユウ、おとうさんが正しいですよ」
ユウ「正しいとかの問題なん？ これ」

東京ディズニーランド前 イルミネーションの青が、夜の黒に重なって、深みを与えている。白い光の線が交錯している。
可奈、iPhoneの探す機能で、ユウの位置を確認。まだ自宅。自宅？？？
（アイフォン、ライン、まるで無反応。模擬だったから、ひょっとしたら、ひたすら眠ってるのかも）
ディズニーランド前、恋人同士だけでなく、家族などの笑顔が溢れている。
どっと落ち込む可奈。でも、開き直って、顔を上げる。
仕方ないよ、受験だし。帰るっ！
「ごめん、寝坊したわ」
可奈が振り返ると、ユウが立っている。
寝巻きのスウェットとジャージで参上。
それは可奈が2年前にプレゼントしたスウェットとジャージ。寝巻きだ。高校のジャージと大差なし。
「なんでそのカッコなの？」
「起きて、速攻で電車乗ってきた」
「スマホは？」
「財布持って、突っ走って、電車乗って、気づいたら忘れてた。ほら、八街ってさ、電車一本逃すと即死だから」
佳奈、呆然としている。ユウは辺りを見回して、
「しっかし、さみーな。スウェット一枚とか、やばいわ」
「もう」可奈、自分のコートを脱いで、ユウにかける。
「ありがと」
「この時期、風邪ひいたら、大学、落ちるかもよ？」
ユウ、口元に軽い笑みを浮かべ、
「可奈、オレは絶対に落ちない。絶対にオレはマーチへ行く。そもそも風邪をビビるぐらいならここに来ねーわ」
可奈、ゆっくり近づき頬をユウの胸に寄せる。ユウに聞こえるか聞こえないかぐらいで、小さく、バカ、と呟く。
ユウ、佳奈の耳元に囁く。
「もしも、マーチ、落ちたら、いっしょにずっと落ちてくれるか？」
佳奈、真剣な目でユウを見上げ、小さく頷き返し、目を閉じる。
ユウ、少し膝を落として、唇を重ねる。

可奈からLINE
ー ユウ、バスケ部のキャプテン、佐々木って知ってる？
ー 知ってるよ、どうした？

This picture was shot on a tripod with three exposures (-2..0..+2EV). I used Photomatix to create the HDR with tone mapping and detail enhanced. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. 1 layer mask to increase contrast in the sky. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. Some dodging and burning to bring out details. Used High Pass sharpening to sharpen image.

Nous, artistes des arts vivants, touchés complètement et durablement par les mesures sanitaires du gouvernement, lançons un appel à tous ceux et celles qui se sentent concernées par cette destruction des lieux de société et par cette négation de toute politique.
La pandémie nous a éloignés les un.e.s des autres et les autorités nous ont fait croire qu'une vie pouvait se limiter à des besoins strictement « nécessaires » de travail et de consommation.
Nous disons ici que nous sommes des êtres qui avons un besoin métaphysique d'éprouver le monde, et que cette nécessité ne peut nous être discutée par le pouvoir en place.

VIDEO: Still reliving my sweet memories of my holidays in South France! :)
As I have said in a previous post, during my holidays in France.. I got to wear quite a number of summer outfits. And I will be showing them in the next few posts. Like with all my photo and video shoots, I'm very grateful that I can always count on someone to help me out!
This shoot was on the Monday of my holiday and I brought this green/black dress from Steps with a cute black ribbon as a sort of belt. I love dresses and tops from Steps, because I know that a size 38 (EU) will always fit me. Nothing annoys me more than when supposedly same size clothing from one brand will vary from dress to dress!
This little village had so many nice places for photos, you can definitely see that I'm not in the Netherlands! ;-)
Looking at this back-side shot of myself in this dress, I really think I should do something with my hair. I just have no idea.. so I guess a visit to the hair saloon is in order. Any suggestions?

Grand Teton National Park at Oxbow Bend, along the Snake River.
People ask me why or when do you shoot a scene in the 'landscape' orientation (horizontal) or in the 'portrait' orientation (vertical). I discuss this in detail in one of my free landscape articles--see below. Most landscape shots are framed horizontally, because that fits best with the scene. The choice for the serious nature photographer is more complex. The first decision you must make is, what is the end purpose of the shot? A calendar image is almost always shot horizontally. A magazine cover is shot vertically. For this shot, I did both. Follow the link below to see the horizontal image of this scene.

From looking at the two images of the same scene shot seconds apart, you can see how different they are. One encompasses the entire scene--the forest, the river, the snow-capped Teton mountains and the ducks are very small. It is a 'grand' scene. The shot above, the vertical one, 'zooms in' and focuses on Mt Moran and its reflection on the Snake River. Here the ducks are more of an important part of the scene--a secondary compositional element.
When I approach a scene like this, I try to always shoot it both ways and then process them to get the best out of the shot. If Outdoor Photographer magazine ever wants a magazine cover of Oxbow Bend, I have it. ;>) Please feel free to call!
Also note the 'placement' of the ducks in the version above. Now as a nature photographer, I did not swim out into the Snake River and 'place' the four ducks. As the patient nature photographer, I waited for the duck to place themselves for this shot. While my photography partner James Neeley was making his way along the river's shore taking many great images, I was setup on my tripod and just waiting for the ducks to swim into place. Then I snapped away, horizontally and vertically. One of the most important things I like to teach about nature photography is the 'art of waiting'. James Neeley, Jeff Sullivan, Kevin McNeal and I will be teaching a landscape and nature photography workshop here next June.

Dalyan, on the Turkey's Aegean Coast, is a fantastic place to relax in a peaceful setting surrounded by nature. Very close to this town we can find Iztuzu, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. It can be reached by one of the numerous boats that offer tours along the Dalyan River until reaching the beach, or through a road that allows access only from its southern side.
Iztuzu Beach is also known as Turtle Beach, since this coastal strip is home to one of the most important breeding sites for sea turtles in the Mediterranean. In 1988, the beach was named a Protected Area by the Turkish government, and access is prohibited from dusk to dawn to protect the laying of eggs and the birth of small turtles. However, this area could have been very different today without the conservation efforts of June Haimoff and many other environmentalists who saved it in the 1980s. Their work to raise awareness and the launch of an international campaign allowed to stop the construction of a huge German resort in this ecological paradise. Both the curious turtles, which can often be seen near the beach, and the locals and visitors who come here, can still enjoy this natural wonder thanks to all those people who decided to protect this beautiful natural environment.

Muy cerca del mismo, se encuentra Iztuzu, una de las playas más bonitas del Mediterráneo. A ella se puede llegar en uno de los numerosos barcos que ofrecen tours por el río de Dalyan hasta llegar a la playa, o a través de una única carretera que permite el acceso por su lado meridional.
Iztuzu Beach, es también conocida como la Playa de la Tortuga, ya que esta franja costera acoge uno de los lugares más importantes de cría de tortugas marinas del Mediterráneo. En el año 1988, la playa fue nombrada Area Protegida por el gobierno de Turquía, y el acceso se prohibe desde el atardecer hasta al amanecer para proteger la puesta de huevos y el nacimiento de las pequeñas tortugas. Sin embargo, esta zona podría haber sido hoy muy diferente sin los esfuerzos de conservación de June Haimoff y de otros muchos ambientalistas que la salvaron en la década de los 80. Su trabajo de concienciación y el lanzamiento de una campaña internacional, permitieron parar la construcción de un enorme resort alemán en este paraíso ecológico. Since it's way too cold outside still and I'm also super busy with work (gotta earn money for those bills, shoes and make-up somehow, right?).. so it's back to the amazing white door doing some preparations for the spring and summer times!
I've been trying out different types of jumpsuits, sleeves or no-sleeves, shorter vs. longer legs, etc. I think this one is really for when the summer sun is burning. Though I think with a nice red jacket, it could also work in the spring! :-P
For shoes, I think these Steve Madden heels will do just fine... in the summer that is. I might have to test this outfit with some boots, but this jumpsuit was made for showing some leg.. so that's probably going to be a negative evaluation.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

皆さんおはよう。
偶然だが、おととしの今日、私は新型コロナウィルスのワクチンを接種した。
みなさんのなかには、すでに二度目の接種を受けた方もいるだろう。
この新型コロナウィルスは世界に1つの境界線を引いた。
それまでとそれ以降だ。
私たちを取り巻く環境は激変した。
ウィルスに対応するためあらゆる場所に除菌液が設置され、部屋の空気を浄化し、そんな環境が至る所に展開されてきた。
アップルも、これらを認識しつつ、新しいプロジェクトに臨んできた。
新しい価値観を受け入れるためには、新しいスタイルが必要だ。
私たちの周囲もアップデートされなければ、私たちは生き残れないだろう。
アップルは時代を生き残るために、いくつかを提示してきた。
パーソナルコンピューターであるマッキントッシュ。
音楽デバイスであるアイポッド。
携帯電話であるアイフォーン。
そして、今日、アップルはみなさんに伝えたいことがある。
それはもうひとつのサヴァイヴだ。
アップルカー。
アップルは車を再発明する。
これまでの自動車の状態
今までのガソリン車を振り返ってみよう。
ガソリンという化石燃料を使い、ガスを排出する。そして環境を悪化させてきた。
山林は業火に見舞われ、大雨の大洪水に街はさらわれ、乾いた大地が覆い尽くす。
これからもこの状態が続くという事は地球自体の崩壊を招く。
私たちはそれを止めなければならない。少なくとも見直しに取り掛かることが重要だ。
世界的にトップだったトヨタはこれに積極的に取り掛からなかった。
すでに多くの世界で走っているハイブリッドのプリウス。
これは１９９２年に発表されたにも関わらず、新しい車種でさえも未だにハイブリッドのままだ。
発売してからの約３０年もの間、いったい彼らは何を目的としてこの車に固執し、開発してきたのか？
なぜ彼らはこの車種を見直さなかったのか？
現状のハイブリット、プラグインハイブリット。そういった類は結局は化石燃料を使っている。
彼らはこの新しい展開に積極的に臨んできたというが、現状維持という考えを変えなかった。
むしろ現時点においても、それがベストだとさえ言ってるように思えてならない。
私たちはそこで他の会社も見渡してみた。
電気自動車の現在
テスラだ。
皆さんご存知のようにテスラは積極的に環境問題に取り組み、世界規模で大きく発展し貢献してきた。化石燃料を使わない、そして自動運転、洗練されたデザイン。これらは多くの人たちを魅了してきた。
しかし広く普及はしたものの、皆さんの家のそばにこの車は走ってるだろうか？
答えはノーだ。
なぜ車が走っていないか。
私たちは3時間ほどしっかり考えた。
まぁ、たった3時間だが。
答えは単純だ。
車が高いからだ。高価すぎるのだ。
これはテスラに限らず電気自動車を作っているすべての会社に言えることだ。
とにかく車の値段が高すぎる。
私たちはこれを念頭に置きつつ、車を再発明した。
アップルカーのポイント
アップルカーのポイントは三つだ。
ひとつめ。
価格。
電気自動車が普及しない理由は非常に簡単だ。
価格が高いからだ
なぜ電気自動車が高いのか。それは本体価格の大半を占めるバッテリーの値段が最も高いからだ。
それが大きく占めている。
そこでアップルはリン酸鉄リチウムイオンバッテリーと言う素材を使うことに行き着いた。
これは全個体電池のように高価ではなく安価で、iPhoneのように充電する時間は短く、すぐに使えることを優先させ、かつ、耐久性に優れていると言うポイントがある。
私たちはこの2点を重視した。
車を短時間で充電し、短距離を即、走行可能となることを目指した。
iPhoneやアップルウォッチと同じ結論を反映させたのだ。
現在、電気自動車は長距離を走ることを目標としているが、果たして、きょう、あなたが会社から帰る際に、長距離用のバッテリが必要だろうか？
何百キロも走ることが必要だろうか？
すぐに家に帰り、すぐに充電し、また朝には出勤する。
全個体電池などという長距離が走れる高価なバッテリは、現段階では不要なのだ。
アップルはそう判断した。
次にアップルが目指したポイントの2つ目は安全性だ。
WHOの報告では、年間で世界中の事故死者数は１３５万人に上る。
これは、２４秒にひとりが命を落としている計算になる。
アップルはこの事故を劇的に減らそうと考えた。
Apple Watchを腕に巻いた子供が車の下にいた場合。
iPhone 5Gを持っている人が側道にいたり、信号待ちをしている場合。
彼らを事前に感知し、彼らには接近しないように考えた。
人の居場所を事前に察知することができれば、車は避けられる。
私たちは、車自体が人から離れることを計算した。
3つ目は先進性だ。
これまでの車と言うのは、車に乗るとわかるが、ダッシュボードにはいつもの通風口が口を開けて待っている。
これは見慣れた光景で、もううんざりだ。飽き飽きだ。
私たちはこの風景を大きく前進させる。
フロントガラスにAR機能を搭載し、ナビゲーションで誘う。
また、ダッシュボードには皆さんが持っているiPhoneやiPadを貼り付け、聴いていた音楽をそのまま車内で流せる。
もちろん、望めばそのままエンジンもスタートだ。
ワイパーなんてもう不要だ。水滴なんて風圧で飛ばすした方が美しい。
シートベルトもあなたが座れば自動で閉まる。きつ過ぎず、ゆる過ぎず、あなたは快適な空間を提供されるだろう。
また、ハンドルを握って前を見据えた瞬間にドライバーの健康状態をアップルカーは察知する。
あなたが酔っていたら、車は決して動かない。もう酔っ払い運転の事故は発生しないだろう。
以上の三つがアップルカーのポイントだ。
１ 価格
２ 安全性
３ 先進性
アップルはこれらを重視した。
そして、皆さんが最も気になるのは価格のはずだ。
価格は29,999ドル。
車の予約は来週から。半年後にまずはアメリカから発売する。
それでは実際にアップルカーをお見せしよう。

You may have noticed that I've worn this dress last year when I went to an archaeological park in Germany. And you might also remember that I wore cute wedges with it.
Well, as cute as they are.. we all know that my love is for stiletto heels! And so, I had to also combine this dress with these red stiletto heels. Which makes this outfit very simple colour-wise but still quite effective.. at least I think so.

A-Z Challenge: Z - Ziegfeld Girls
Ziegfeld Girls were beautiful chorus girls starring on Broadway in the theatrical productions known as the Ziegfeld Follies (1907-1931). These showgirls were the epitome of elegance and glamour as they sang and danced, all while adorned in elaborate costumes. For this theme, you may depict your doll(s) as either a vintage or modern day showgirl: Perhaps she is one of the famed Las Vegas showgirls of the 1950s or is a star at Paris' Folies Bergere. You can show her performing in a chorus line, getting dressed backstage, or simply posing for a photoshoot. Think feathers, sequins, flirty skirts or elaborate headpieces!

The Lambda Class Shuttle is one of my favorite spaceship designs with its birdlike look. I like the elegant curves and the transformative wing mechanism, furthermore the landing gear setup with just two legs is exciting!
With the introduction of all the recent new parts I was able to create the round forms and fluent lines of the original studio model.
It is difficult to find exact reference material for this ship, most of the blueprints and imagery, which are available online, are not correct to the original studio models. I've ended up using my own photographs I've managed to take at the amazing Star Wars Identities exhibition.
The model is a scratch build MOC, there are some familiar elements to the LEGO UCS model as well as Dmac's www.flickr.com/photos/dmaclego original design. My main focus was an accurate cockpit design (it’s still not perfect but I like my solution), the inclusion of play features, a full interior completed with PF functions, lights and more.
The model features:
- motorized foldable wings
- boarding ramp
- retractable landing gear
- detailed cockpit and interior
- turning canons
- landing lights
- working sublight engine
It is bigger than the official set with 94 cm in width and 102 cm in hight (on the stand). I've used up to 6000 parts for the model including an PF medium motor and 7 PF lights.
For the scenes I've used secondary builds, the Death Star ll and a midscaled Star Destroyer based on Brickdoctors www.flickr.com/photos/legoarts/ design both of which are adding several hundred parts. For the Endor scene I've used around 10000 parts. Even the planets used for the space scenes are based on LEGO parts (Planet series: Endor and Tatooin for the red Planet).
