It is a genus of about 500 species of flowering plants in the family Ranunculaceae. Members of the genus are known as buttercups, spearworts and water crowfoots. The familiar and widespread buttercup of gardens throughout Northern Europe (and introduced elsewhere) is the creeping buttercup Ranunculus repens, which has extremely tough and tenacious roots. Two other species are also widespread, the bulbous buttercup Ranunculus bulbosus and the much taller meadow buttercup Ranunculus acris. All three are often regarded as invasive weeds. Buttercups usually flower in the spring, but flowers may be found throughout the summer, especially where the plants are growing as opportunistic colonizers, as in the case of garden weeds. The water crowfoots (Ranunculus subgenus Batrachium), which grow in still or running water, are sometimes treated in a separate genus Batrachium. They have two different leaf types, thread-like leaves underwater and broader floating leaves. In some species, such as R. aquatilis, a third, intermediate leaf type occurs. Ranunculus species are used as food by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including the Hebrew character and small angle shades. Some species are popular ornamental flowers in horticulture, with many cultivars selected for large and brightly coloured flowers. Buttercups are mostly perennial, but occasionally annual or biennial, herbaceous, aquatic or terrestrial plants, often with leaves in a rosette at the base of the stem. In many perennial species runners are sent out that will develop new plants with roots and rosettes at the distanced nodes. 24799

Le Grand Chœur de style gothique flamboyant 1545 - 1585, la statuaire polychrome qui le compose a été réalisée par les ateliers bourguignons de Cluny. Permettant de séparer les personnes religieuses du peuple, le jubé ou Grand Choeur est aujourd'hui le témoin des pratiques religieuses de l'époque. Puis par sa majestuosité, il est aussi le témoin de la richesse de l'Eglise CatholiqueLa statuaire de Ste Cécile forme un ensemble considérable, peut-être le plus important de la sculpture française de la fin du Moyen Age :
- 87 statues à la façade externe du jubé
- 33 personnages de l'Ancien Testament au pourtour du choeur
- 15 statues figurant l'Eglise à l'intérieur : (12 apôtres, la Vierge, St Jean-Baptiste et St Paul)
- 72 statues d'anges, Charlemagne et l'Empereur Constantin dominant les deux portes d'entrée de la clôture.
L'ensemble des statues a conservé leur polychromie d'origine. La couleur tend au naturalisme, chevelures, attitudes et costumes sont d'une variété admirable. Le style des barbes des visages, des drapés permet de distinguer trois familles qui pourraient être liées à l'art des grands imagiers français de la fin du XVème siècle : Antoine Le Moiturier et Michel Colombe.

Yesterday it was a beautiful sunset at Pacifica beach. I went with my wife and kids and my little son had blast. He was running like crazy on beach and asking me why sky is red and not blue. I told him son if you are lucky you see red sky... It was low tide so I went under the pier and took few shots..

Credits are important to me as I don't make the stuff and Second Life would be very dull if it weren't for all the creators who do. The variety here is amazing. In a lot of ways, making a photograph here is like making a movie -- you need people who make stuff from trees to monsters to clothes to poses, people who create the sets, the actors (avators) and photographers. It is a wonderful collaboration between a lot of people that results in one photograph.... well, ok, a lot of photographs, lol.

This is a stacked version of "Thunderstruck" with other photos taken before and after the original photo. I combined them in Photoshop CS4 using a Star Trails action. Final processing done in Lightroom 2.
Another example of the great power of lightning in the mountains in Colorado. This storm was parked over Gunnison, CO on the night of September 12th. I was traveling from Creede, CO back to Gunnison, when near the Powderhorn Guest Ranches, I saw the lightning lighting up the dark night sky. Surprisingly, this was taken around 8:10pm. Surprisingly dark for that night, oh well the days are definitely getting shorted as fall approaches.
