Calmac HQ & Ferry Terminal Gourock Pierhead
At the linkspan is the foot passenger ferry Argyll Flyer which was then operated by the then Argyll Ferries effectively an offshoot company of Caledonian MacBrayne and created in 2011. The terminal is used for the 20-minute crossing to Dunoon and the Cowal Peninsula. Until 29th June 2011 , the Calmac Car Ferries operated to Dunoon until they were withdrawn by the Scottish Government. The Gourock Railway Station can be see mid picture.

The origins of the David MacBrayne Group dates back to 1851. The most significant changes came in 1969 with the merger of the Caledonian Steam Packet Co (CSP) and David MacBrayne and became the State-owned Scottish Transport Group (STG) and renamed Caledonian MacBrayne and subsequently transferred under the control of the the Secretary State for Scotland now the Scottish Government , effectively still a State-owned Company
