... the clattering of dishes, conversations and laughter, a warm summer evening. For now, however, this outdoor patio is covered in snow and the tables and chairs are all stacked up, just waiting for spring.

I like this one on black. No... unfortunately it doesn't help with the blur... ha. (see my tags) :-)

Back in July ...

Putting weaving lessons to work with whenu made from cut up left overs from my first ever watercolour painting class last week. I was advised I was using water colours like they were acrylics. Yes. I was. Seems I break the rules at all my classes. 😂

That was actually after the class had finished and most people had left. I asked if we could use up the excess paint we’d been given rather than see it go to waste while helping to clean up. My amazing friend Lala Bubbles offered to pay extra so we could stay a bit longer. Alfred kindly agreed and even masked up another sheet for each of us. It was so much fun to just let go and do what happened with the paint and water 🎨 💦

A big yes came out. The sheet is on the wall now. I like seeing YES on the wall. It reminds me of the power of positivity!

Weaving Life

Episodes intertwine

Lessons learned

Over again

Free sometimes

Yet trapped

Ingrained ways

Practice required

Presence held

This moment

Every moment

It’s hard

I fall

But up

I get

Here now

Old ways

Die hard.

Resurrect themselves

I fight

please retreat

old thoughts

Underlying constructs

I must

Break through

Find happiness

right here.

It’s me

Just me

At one

With everything

Well trying

At least

To be

Happy Halloween!

"The greatest thing about dreams is they don’t expire. They can lay dormant for years and when you pull them out and dust them off, they shine like new."

I needed a little crazy tonight. A bit of nonsense and silly....Seuss seemed to fit the bill with his magically nutty words to go with a photo of another world that i enjoy visiting with my macro lens. i like to get lost in these places....and particularly in an Iris....the pouffy mohawk...the soft petals with that little bit of sparkle....the sensuous blend of colors like a sweet dream....and the occasional meet up with a crazy critter in there enjoying a bit of this strange world! (Yes, Larry....you NEED a macro lens!)

UPDATE:

My daughter saw the doctor today. He cancelled her inducement for 5am, telling her he felt that since she was having contractions she would most likely go on her own in the next 24 to 48 hours. She was so upset she was in tears, because she had no idea she was having contractions...the doctor was surprised she could not feel them, as they were registering fairly strongly on the monitor. (i had the same thing with my middle daughter...no idea i was having them!!) I felt bad for her, she is SO ready to download Luke.... so i took her out for a walk and we talked....i got her to laugh a bit, and told her funny stories about how they told ME i would not be having her sister for another week, after going to the hospital with a strange feeling that was NOT contractions but rather the feeling of a bowling ball falling out of my crotch! They monitored me for about 20 minutes, examined me, called my doctor and then based on what the doctor told them, they sent me home to wait. I got back to my mom's to pick her up, drove 20 minutes home in my little stick shift sports car, and was at that point, having contractions. I was convinced i was in false labor from them messing around checking me....an hour later, about 5:30pm, i was able to get her father on the phone, and told him not to stop for a beer, i was down to 2;5 minutes apart and dropping!! I had her sister within a half hour of arrival to the hospital at 6:35pm after an indy 500 scary ride to the hospital!! I could not even make it from the car to inside the hospital without stopping on a park bench to breathe....my doctor almost did not make it...she came dressed in her fancy dinner party clothes, joking with me that i had terrible timing! I told her she is destined for a delivery to remember!! It runs in the family!

She is calm now....contractions were erratic and have calmed somewhat, so the waiting continues, she is tired and cranky....and my IPAD now has a "Contraction Monitor" app on it! Sigh....wonder if there is something useful for that app when this is over!

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Flare Friday (I have been trying to get flare for quite some time. More difficult than I thought!)

i have become a 365er who resorts to finding some nice window light and putting her face in it when i don't have any ideas...

For Ms. Cheeky's workshop. Week 4... "What I Love"

I think what I love is shooting... and learning!

The beauty of photography is that you learn even (or maybe perhaps more) from your mistakes.

I thought the set-up on this shot through very carefully and then after reviewing it, realized my ISO was set soooo high from yet another failed night shoot. (the bane of my existence, until I master it. :D)

But the more I looked at the shot, the more I liked it! It led me to look at settings, white balance and simplicity. For someone who loves color, discovering and making the choice to put these beautiful yellow calla lilies in b & w was an eye opener. I hope you like it...

After a whirlwind weekend that ranged from Mt. Adams to The Fruit stand tour of Hood River Valley, I am so recharged and happy.... thanks to the laughter and kind spirits of discovering someone who feels like a long lost brother!

Larry (bobshots). I took him all over the hills where we shot fires and stars and high mountain lakes, ate some kinda fancy hotdogs roasted over a campfire at 3 am, and then shot the stars until 5am... We drove down the valley with a few distractions along the way like the kids playing in Trout Creek, visits with family (and my sis says she will claim him, he fits right in to our nutty family), and finally ending up touring the Fruit Stands along the Hood River Fruit Loop searching for possible magazine photos. A peaceful night of going through shots where I learned some more tips and techniques for Raw images and photoshop, and then back up to the fruit stands again today...

And yes a few more distractions along the way again, like the fishermen by the river, and a visit to a reflective body of water, and of course the SUNFLOWERS! Oh heavens, someone as nuts as me for spinning around in the road to return to a tractor, sunflower, or river... :))) .

Yep, THanks Larry... you are a kind and sharing person... be sure to take care of yourself as well! Thanks a whole bunch for a delightful experience... and we just gotta get your wife and daughter up here sometime too!

Yay, a new buddy, one that feels like someone I knew forever...

Larry is a great photographer also... go check out his stream!

This is a line from the children's book I am writing... Well, actually I am just thinking about writing a children's book...;)) Did you see Morgan Freeman's recent movie where he writes a story for a young neighbor girl about an talking elephant? It is a charming, enchanted movie... Muy encantada... Es la verdad!

felt like a flower, was going to go back to summer, but this fall one appealed to me-hope it appeals to you too

I just saw on Facebook, it's a great floral photographer's birthday

Happy Birthday Brenda fellow orca lover :D

From my head to my toes, it feels like fall.

Speaking of pumpkins . . ..

Or how about this one?

9/16/07 – It’s been a frustrating day.

I had this great idea for a clones shot. It will be a hilarious parody of/tribute to a popular photo on flickr. Though the shoot went better than expected (my model was working with me today), I just don’t know why my camera shoots a cool blue hue one shot, then a warm orange w/o changing any settings. Probably some automatic function I’m going to have to dig out and switch off (that or my camera hates me).

Then! while attempting to edit it, MSR Group Shot gave me trouble. Am I asking too much when I want the only change to occur to be w/n the box (selected area)? I’m down with the whole box system of the program (it was free after all), but when I highlight a small square in the carpet, I don’t want my foot (located outside the box) to disappear.

Well, I’ll have to file my parody/tribute away as a work in progress ‘til I get better technology. Unfortunately it’s raining today, so I didn’t chill in the grass (Flickr Group Roulettes group of the day) as a back up. Took this literal 11th hour shot, and max’d out the contrast, mid-tones, etc Like how it turned out, so it wasn’t a total loss of a day.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant.

The evening of December 13, 2013, I watched a fairly amusing movie on Netflix. It had some of the strangest subtitling I've ever seen. If I were deaf, I think I would have been rather confused. I watched all of the credits, hoping to see who did the subtitles. Aliens, perhaps? Please view my four examples.

how close you wanna go to nature...?? I love going to places where I can sit alone and enjoy nature.. sitting in nature's lap is best way to get relax and refresh yourself... it also a great stress buster..

Took this shot at Manchinbele Dam, Bangalore...

as always thank you friends for you visits, comments and faves... Have a great Sunday.... today is Ganesh Chaturthi... so, enjoy the day with sweets.. :)

for Beyond Layers ~ Pieces of Me

This week we are on a Scavenger Hunt. Today is "my kitchen faucet".

Why does it seem I spend alot of time here?

Maybe 'cuz I do...

I don't mind, the kitchen is the heart of our home, and between hubby and I, this faucet gets used alot!!!

It is so versatile and convenient, and hey, when there are flowers nearby, it makes this faucet really happy... haha! (meaning ME!)

{{uhm, you do recognize those "mailbox flowers" don't you?

well, seems they go great in the kitchen too!}}

my employer sponsors the lions at the zoo (the company logo is a lion). this year, the zoo is celebrating it's 90th birthday, so this weekend all staff were able to visit the zoo and pay only 90 cents entry fee - the normal cost is $32 for adults! i was allowed to take 3 friends so miss e, kt and mm came with me. the group of 4 who paid before us handed over $128 for their tickets, i flashed my id card and handed over $3.60 - bargain!

I saw Kristin's shot from today and knew I had to post this one.

Come Fly with Me it ain't (although it does have "Brazil" and "Isle of Capri," both on the Sinatra album), but I'm sort of enchanted by it. Some of it is very good. The idea for this album came from Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen as a way for Crosby and Clooney to work together.

Lake huron, this past summer

i'm sad its over, but what can youdo? My doggy reese certainly enjoyed her lazy summer. how about you?

SOOC

Having finished Yet Another Project From Hell, I will sleep now.

Getting up in a few hours to roust up the hippie, and get myself refreshed. Due to time constraints, I will be cosplaying as... an amateur photographer.

In other words, I'll be wearing a t-shirt (either Boondock Saints or Big Dogs Of The Carribbean), jeans, my regular Nikes (or are they New Balance? either or, it seems.), and $1K worth of DSLR camera equipment - the camera, 8 GB photo card (2000 photo capacity!), 18-55 mm lens, 55-250 mm lens, case, quite a few bottles of water and gatorade or powerade in a backpack.

I'll be taking lots of pictures of folks in costume, keeping up with my fellow cosplayers as they march from City Hall to Japantown.

It's a yearly tradition for me. Occasionally, I show up in costume. Apparently, it's not this time. (Staying alive to make it home in the evening is Priority One...)

See you in a few hours....

Four EP's were released from the album of the same name. I guess it saved the ware on the album?

My daughter spends many days at her grandparents in the summer so that we may work. They find a lot of fun projects to work on. Restoring this cabinet brought them all a lot of satisfaction and pride. I had to capture it with the camera
