Found this resting on some Goldenrod.

Solidago, commonly called goldenrods, is a genus of about 100 to 120 species of flowering plants in the aster family, Asteraceae. Most are herbaceous perennial species found in open areas such as meadows, prairies, and savannas.

Two hoverflys (loking very similar to bees) hover above another one of their species who sits on a marguerite blossom.

A fascinating chance! I have never seen this before and never seen this once again yet.

Hoverfly on a sun chair. Focus stacked using zerene

There were three interesting things waiting to be photographed at this lunch stop on the Pacific Highway north of Coolongolook. This critter was hovering in front of me as I waited for the Yellow Robin to make an appearance while the pies cooled down. The wing pattern at such a slow shutter speed was fascinating, a kind of solid of revolution.
