A hoverfly resting. I think it has an angry look, mind you I had just set the flash off in its face, so I'm not surprised!

Resting. For maybe 10 seconds, max. It was hovering right under me. Literally, just before stopping on this leaf.
At laaaaaaast i managed to take a shot of the hoverfly while flying!! ^__^

Hoverfly in the "studio". I temporarily kidnapped this hoverfly from outside and fed it some sugar/honey to keep it busy whilst I took some shots. Focus stacked using zerene. I did release it where I trapped it.
This is a very distinctive species with its two yellow bands, the chocolate wing patches and the long, forward pointing antennae. Common in Norfolk apparently
This hoverfly is also known as the 'Marmalade hoverfly' and is widespread throughout the UK and Europe. This one was in our North MK garden.
A kidnapped drone fly hoverfly. I trapped and took home the hoverfly from Highdown gardens. Did some outside "studio" work with it. I then fed it and after a little while it took off to find some shelter.
