In celebration of Computer Science Education Week, many San Jose Public Libraries are offering fun, introductory computer programming sessions using the code.org website. This one at the Alum Rock Branch Library had many enthusiastic, young participants.

In celebration of the world-wide "Hour of Code" sponsored by Code.org, my 8th Grade Technology students along with the O'Neill Public Schools administrative team participated in this awesome event.

Scott Community College's Information Technology program hosted 70 people for an Hour of Coding workshop. The group consisted of mostly elementary and middle school students, with a few older ones mixed in. It was part of the national Hour of Code promotion. www.eicc.edu/it

Thanks to volunteers from John Deere, 2nd-5th graders participated in the worldwide effort of an "Hour of Code" at Howe Elementary School on December, 5th. Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science by engaging participants with one-hour coding activities. The second graders in Joyce Adamson's classroom spent the hour on their laptops by compiling codes to play Minecraft.
