Caught this hot air balloon as it was rising behind a vineyard hill. You can see an owl nesting box to the left. Attracting owls to the vineyards is a chemical-free method wineries use to eliminate rodents.

Just as I went out the back door to see this balloon flying very low over our house. I dashed upstairs just in time to catch it as it floated away in the front.

We had never been in a hot air balloon before. Robert flies small fixed wing and gyro planes so we have spent countless hours airborne but this is by far my favorite aircraft. The balloon glides through the air so quietly and peacefully with no perceivable friction and on this windless day, not a molecule of turbulence. I wished this ride could have gone on forever but our 30 minutes was over much too soon.
