Yeah, some people are scared by spiders while the other people are fascinated by them. I'm a lot more fascinated than scared of them. Of course it is not very nice if they decide to walk on Your face or something like that.
Anyway, my younger son likes them as well. However, I have no clue what intentions my elder son has in the background
Our lovable and extremely hospitable hosts during our stay at a Khmu village. We fished and bathed at a nearby river, ate a sumptuous dinner and finally slept a good sleep at their spartan, but really comfortable dwelling.
With a splattering of English and whatever Lao/Khmu words I could master (and of course translation from my guide), talked about their concerns and hopes for their future over glasses of rice wine. It was a wonderful stay indeed. I've promised to send this image to them and hopefully the photo finds a place on their walls.
Berklee College of Music hosted the AEC’s Pop and Jazz Platform 2015 at its international campus in Valencia on February 13-14, 2015. The theme for the event was: Pop, Jazz and ME - Developing Diversity and Identities Among Artists and Audiences. The two day PJP event welcomed keynote speaker Danilo Pérez along with many other panelists and speakers. The delegates also had the opportunity to participate in activity sessions, from scoring sessions in the Berklee recording studios and a DJ lab to sessions on Butacada, Flamenco-Cajón, and Ableton, further exploring the event theme at Berklee’s high-tech campus, located in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.

Rebuilding Together hosted the 20th annual Super Bowl sanctioned Kickoff to Rebuild event January 29 through 30, 2015 in Phoenix, the host city of Super Bowl XLIX. Hundreds of volunteers worked during the fall of 2014 to provide critical home repairs in three Phoenix neighborhoods. The project series culminated with over 100 Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers and other partner volunteers providing free critical repairs to three homes and installing a new Carter’s Kids playground for Crisis Nursery. Misericordia hosted its 4th one-day orientation for incoming students on July 21st. Students enjoyed various activities and introductions to university life, such as ice breakers with fellow incoming students and current students, student skits, and tours of the residence halls.
MS Ireland played host to the Friends of the MS Care Centre Luncheon on Friday 27th May and it was a day to remember for all in attendance. Almost 200 of Ireland’s finest businesspeople dined on a sumptuous three course lunch in the extravagant surroundings in the Four Seasons Hotel.
Anne Winslow, Chief Executive of MS Ireland, thanked everyone for becoming a friend of the MS Care Centre and spoke passionately about the importance of the Centre for people with multiple sclerosis across Ireland. Allen O’Connor, Chairperson of MS Ireland, spoke about how MS doesn’t always have to limit your activities or stop you from doing the things you liked to do before you were diagnosed and talked fondly of his travel experiences.
There was complete stillness when Mark Mitchell spoke from the heart about what the MS Care Centre means to him. His time at the Centre means his wife gets to have a well deserved break and joked that taking care of him is no easy feat! The humour and good nature of his words did not overshadow the significance of the Centre and the message that ‘Your friendship is hope’ reached the entire audience.
Neil O’Brien lifted the spirits of the guests with his witty account of the origins of his motivational speaking career. His inspirational words certainly rang true with our hopes and expectations of the luncheon and in turn, the Friends of the Care Centre campaign. We are grateful that he could share them with our guests on this day: “In life, you get what you expect… not what you want.”
With Michael Kelly from PJ O’Dywer Auctioneers at the helm, the auction was a great success with guests bidding on signed and framed Munster and Leinster rugby jerseys and a Millennium Bottle of 27 year old Jameson. The final lot was the original piece by internationally renowned photographer, Tom Lawlor, which was specially commissioned for MS Ireland. The raffle was a lively way to end the day and all of the wonderful prizes, donated to MS Ireland, were well received by their new owners.
This is a photograph from the 6th annual Longwood Village 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs 2015 which were held in Longwood Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 18th October 2015 at 11:00. This is the sixth year which Longwood GAA/Village have hosted race events. This year's event was an outstanding success and builds on the fantastic success of last year's race. The overall number of participants, including walkers, was over 440 which is up on last year's final numbers. There was over 220 runners and joggers in the 10KM while there was almost 200 runners, joggers and walkers in the 5KM. The events were organised as fundraisers for both the adult and juvenille teams at Longwood GAA club. The event also provided a fundraising opportunity for the local St. Vincent de Paul charity. Overall the whole day was a great success with the hard work put in by the organising committee ensuring that participants enjoyed their race experience. Both routes were accurately measured, kilometer points clearly marked, junctions well stewarded, and electronic timing provided. The event provided many local runners, joggers, fun runners and walkers with a local event to support whilst at the same time providing runners preparing for events such as the Dublin marathon with an opportunity to race a short, fast, distance in the lead up to marathon day. The GAA club provided excellent stewarding and traffic management all around the course. The race had a professional feel to it and it is sure to grow next year given the very positive feedback from many of the participants today.

Longwood is a small village in South East Co. Meath and is close to the town of Enfield with access to the M4 Motorway. The weather was almost perfect for road running. A beautiful crisp autumn morning with dry cool conditions. 5KM Course: The 5KM started in Longwood village. Runners then took a left turn in the Village down St. Oliver's Road. This straight section of road brings runners to a left turn onto a very well maintained boreen road for less than one kilometer. The race then emerges and joins with the 10KM at Stoneyford where the runners take a left and then another left before arriving back at the finish line in Longwood GAA club. Overall this is a very fast and flat 5KM with no hills to speak of.
10KM Course: The 10KM event begins in Longwood Village outside Dargan's Pub and proceeds westward out of the village. There are some interesting points along this part of the course. At the 2KM point the runners will run under the double bridges - an aquaduct for the Royal Canal and a bridge carrying the Dublin Sligo Railway line. The race then enters county Kildare just before the 3km and after taking a right turn at the four-cross roads known locally as Lally's Cross it returns to County Meath on top of the River Boyne Bridge (Ashfield Bridge) which forms the county boundary. The race follows a straight road for the next 2KM until runners encounter Blackshade bridge which is the toughest climb on the route. As a point of interest Blackshade bridge brings runners back over the Royal Canal and the Railway line. The race then crosses the River Boyne again at Stoneyford before taking a right which will bring runners on a testing two kilometer stretch with some short hills. The 10KM course then joins with the 5Km course for the final 1.5KM back to Longwood GAA club for the finish.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. 2 July, 2011. HU hosted a Guest Speak Talk on Thursday, 21 July, 2011 by Mr. Tristram Perry & Ms. Andrea DeArment Information Officers of the US Consulate General of Lahore & Karachi. The purpose was to allow students to ask questions concerning the PAK-US relations to get a better understanding of the current issues.
The interactive session lasted more than an hour, during which both speakers gave an introduction of their roles & duties at the respective US Consulates in Lahore and Karachi, which led to a Question & Answer session with the participating students of Business, Pharmacy & Fashion Design Faculties of Hajvery University (HU). Their questions centered on the past PAK-US relations, the recent events which received a lot of coverage and where the Foreign Policy of US with Pakistan is headed in the next 10 years. Gen (r) Muhammad Latif, Director Administrator HU presented Shields to both Guests.
Ms. Andrea also showed keen interest in HU School of Fashion Design. She interacted with BFD Students, and admired their attention to detail and innovation in Dress Designson Display in their classroom/workshop.
Their visit concluded after a lively discussion over Tea; the discussion included strengthening Academic ties between the US Universities and Hajvery University (HU), so as to bridge the gaps between the two Academic Communities and allow them to experience Pakistan first hand and vice versa.

The Bastrop River Co. is hosted the inaugural SUP Cup on August 16-17, 2013.
The 2-day event – which was held in historically hip Bastrop, Texas – included two races and an obstacle challenge for hard-core paddlers and weekend warriors, alike. The SUP events highlighted a festive weekend that celebrates the Colorado River and the community of Bastrop, the fastest growing SUP destination in Texas.
VA Hosts Veteran Hiring Fair at the National Veteran Small Business Conference and Expo in Detroit.
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veteran Employment Services Office (VESO) will host its largest hiring fair to date at Detroit's Cobo Center, June 26-28. VA is hosting three major events at Detroit’s Cobo Center June 26-29: The VA for Vets Hiring Fair, the Veteran open house, and the National Veterans Small Business Conference and Expo. The events are expected to attract thousands of Veterans, business owners and federal employees, with an economic impact estimated at $11 million for the city. More than 24,000 federal and private-sector job openings across the country will be available at the free Veteran Hiring Fair June 26-28. VA will bring together partners like the First Lady’s “Joining Forces” initiative and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, along with private sector companies, during the fair. Not only will the fair provide Veterans an opportunity to showcase their skills to potential employers, it will also assist Veterans with resume preparation, interview techniques and career coaching. The open house gives Veterans and their families the chance to find out about the wide range of financial and health care benefits, services and resources that are available from federal, state and community agencies. The National Veterans Small Business Conference and Expo is the premier government event for Veteran-owned businesses. Last year’s conference in New Orleans drew almost 5,000 attendees, and more than 6,000 participants are expected this year. 1st MSC hosts mobilization readiness exercise
Camp Santiago, Salinas: Soldiers of the 1st Mission Support Command's Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment hosted a mobilization readiness exercise at Camp Santiago, P.R., 14-27 March.
During the event, HHD Soldiers completed readiness checks for over 1,000 Soldiers. Events such as this are commonly held annually to ensure that commanders can maintain their unit readiness.
"We try to do this as the units get closer to their available year in order to have them improve their overall readiness and mobilization posture in the event they get selected (for mobilization) down the road", said Gerardo Rodriguez, mobilization officer for the 1st MSC.
Rodriguez said MRXs help units maintain readiness for deployments but they also serve the individual Soldier.
"As part of the MRX ... there are different stations and one of them, one of the most important, is medical. A Soldier is completely checked and whatever cannot be fixed at this location ... the Soldier can go to a private (medical) provider and get that situation fixed and that helps them with their overall readiness",he said.
Soldiers rotate through eleven different stations in total where they are checked in by HHD Soldiers and efficiently move through the station. While the process has been refined over the years at times people still tend to get impatient.
Staff Sgt. Anaselly Ramos, logistics noncommissioned officer with the mobilization team, know the experience can be stressful but to help keep the level of frustration down she leads groups of Soldiers through stations when she sees openings. While each group of Soldiers is instructed to follow the schedule given to them for the MRX, Ramos' method keeps things moving along too.
Keeping track of the entire flow of Soldier traffic is a system called the mobilization plan data viewer.
"It shows all the stations and actually it runs the SRP (MRX) completely", said Spc. Hector Rodriguez, from Bayamon.
"It's tracking each Soldier by station ... you can see how many have completed (the stations) and how many have not",added Rodriguez, who is assigned to the 311th Quartermaster Company.
While the process can be tedious for the Soldiers going from station to station, one Soldier working at the medical readiness station found the MRX to be an opportunity to challenge herself by practicing her public speaking skills.
Spc. Jenniffer Gonzalez Diaz, a traffic management coordinator, who's primary language is Spanish, began giving the medical station briefings to many groups of Soldiers. Gonzalez admits that speaking English is not one of her strengths but her determination brought her recognition among her peers and even the Commanding General of the 1st MSC Brig. Gen. Fernando Fernandez.
"They gave me the opportunity to participate in this activity so I can ... help them in the system with the Soldiers, and I practiced a lot my English",said Gonzalez.
As a member of the the 390th Seaport Company, in Ceiba, Gonzalez recognizes the importance of refining her English language skills. When given the opportunity to refine her abilities when she signed up for the Army, Gonzalez participated in English language courses.
"I improved my English, I practiced my English when I took the class but I knew a little bit of the language because we are Puerto Rico and we are bilingual so we took classes when we started in (grade) school", said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez knows this isn't the only challenge she'll have to overcome in her military career, which is why she stays motivated and maintains a positive attitude.
"The important thing for me is to show people that you are trying, don't get upset, don't get mad if someone corrects you because they are helping you",she said. "If you don't know, ask, so you can learn ... the stuff you learn nobody can take away."
JAXPORT hosted the 2019 Logistics and Intermodal Conference last week in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, which featured 32 sponsors and a sold-out registration of more than 350 port customers, tenants and port service providers.
