It's another scene from the Lake County (Illinois) Model Railroad Club open house last April. There were multiple trains running throughout the 1,300+ square-foot HO Scale layout. I added the sky here, replacing what was a plain blue wall that already had those background trees at right painted on it.
Still life macro shot of a HO scale (one inch) miniature figure sitting on ear buds with sheet music underneath. Double-lighting: back lit and rear top lit (diffused) in a dark room on a table.
Developed using Darktable 3.6.0.
I stopped by the Lake County (Illinois) Model Railroad Club open house in Wauconda, Illinois, on Saturday. There were multiple trains running throughout the 1,300+ square-foot HO Scale layout. This is a handheld shot at 1/6 second from my visit, gussied up a bit for Sliders Sunday.

Trying to work on myself and improve my habits.
A view of my model RR using Helicon Focus to get depth of field. Corel photo shop was used to hide the underside of the upper deck and improve the background. A similar image was recently printed in Model Railroader, July 2025 Trackside Photos.
A view from my HO scale basement layout. Helicon Focus and Helicon Remote are used to get the depth of field. I use Corel Paint Shop Pro to process and alter the image, and the only alteration here was to add marker lights to the P2k E unit and extend the Rix overpass to the left end of the frame. The benchwork by the station is roughly 14 inches wide.

The heavy downpour passed just before SF 8066 hit the crossing. The still saturated road providing a reflection.
The fisherman is concentrating on his line as he waits for a strike and pays little attention to DRGW 5395 leading a train past in the background.
Hope everyone has a safe and great Christmas. Look who came through Danforth by train, the big guy himself with a couple of helpers.
I first saw this scene over 20 years, flying by in an Amtrak train, face smashed against the window at night. Some how they remained standing and I was able to photograph them at night. During the pandemic, I built a model of the two houses, barns and CSX's nightly train down the Hudson Line to NYC.

A late 1970s Amtrak train stops at a small town on its way to the big city in a scene played out across the country hundreds of times over. HO scale models photographed outdoors. I added a photo of real people boarding a train for effect.
I have lost all but 3 of my figurines so my project is slowly coming to a natural end. It is hard for me to pivot and move on so like this little figurine I feel a bit trapped and frozen like there are pitfalls all about.

A Rochester & Irondequoit Terminal switcher pulls empty malt hoppers from the unloading shed at Genesee Brewery sometime in 1995. I designed the graphics for these hoppers produced by Accurail as a club fundraiser. This scene takes place on the old RIT Model Railroad Club layout, since dismantled.
