A darkening sky, an abandoned nest named Ovid - no one around ... an ideal setting for a small horror film. The big trucks honked behind my back as I sneaked up to this haunted house armed with my camera. No - I'm not a gawker and Lostplaces voyeur ... my scruples about the privacy of others prevailed. I turned and let the sky growl.
Ein sich verdüsternder Himmel, ein verlassenes Nest namens Ovid - kein Mensch weit und breit ... ein idealer Schauplatz für einen kleinen Horrorfilm. Hinter meinem Rücken hupten warnend die großen Trucks, als ich mich mit meiner Kamera bewaffnet auf dieses Geisterhaus zu schlich. Nein - ich bin kein Gaffer und Lostplaces-Voyeur ... meine Skrupel vor der Privatsphäre anderer setzten sich durch. Ich machte kehrt und ließ den Himmel grummeln.

A Lady in Red or Red Lady is a type of female ghost, similar to the White Lady, but according to legend is more specifically attributed to a jilted lover, prostitute killed in a fit of passion, or woman of vanity. My older Flickr contacts know that I struggle with monochrome but today I am stepping out of my comfort zone and posting a scene I came across whilst out walking. It was taken in the middle of the New Forest shortly after a large forest fire. The whole area turned black, most of the trees and shrubs had been burnt and reduced to charcoal. The weather was cold, grey and misty so there was no natural colour to play with, which made it slightly easier to edit.
"The Birds" is a horror story written by the British writer Daphne du Maurier, first published in 1952. The story is set in du Maurier's home county of Cornwall, shortly after the end of the second world war. A farmhand, his family and community come under lethal attack from flocks of birds. The story was the inspiration for Alfred Hitchcock's film The Birds, released in 1963.
This Jeep is a good example of the incredible advances that have been made in movie technology in the last few decades, This movie was made in 1954. They actually cut this Jeep in half to make it look as though it had been sliced in half by a ray gun from a spaceship from another planet. Now, they could have made it look better with a computer generated simulation. A young Clint Eastwood had one line in this movie. Now, along with other movie relics, this Jeep is sitting in Fry’s Electronics store in Burbank, CA.

He did not speak. He never could.
But silence has a weight.
And in his arms, she hung like dusk-
too still, too late, too great.
The mask, once blank and cruelly still,

I picked up this doll today at a local market for £3. I was drawn to the fact that she looked manic and might just come alive when nobody is looking. I intend to use her image in a digital artwork.
The fog here is rather cool at the moment, almost horror-film-like. It's been on and off for a week or two, and thick and spooky! This picture doesn't show how thick it's is sadly, but I love this back road day or night, light or dark.

Der hysterische Ausruf
Der hysterische Ausruf „HILFEEEEEE!“ findet meistens in synchronisierten Hollywoodfilmen oder schlechten deutschen Filmen Verwendung. In diesen findet er zumeist Anklang in Form eines gut aussehenden perfekten Superhelden, eines gut aussehenden perfekten Polizisten oder eines gut aussehenden perfekten Passanten. Der Ausruf wird dann getätigt, wenn die Situation scheinbar ausweglos ist und sich der/die Protagonist/in nicht zu helfen weiß (Taschendiebstahl, Vergewaltigung, Verführung Entführung). Mit Ausnahme von Horrorfilmen werden die Rufenden meist gerettet. In freier Wildbahn ist dieser Spruch heute nicht mehr anzutreffen, da Frauen gemerkt haben, dass nach dem Ausruf eigentlich nie jemand Perfektes um die Ecke kommt und hilft. Diese Tatsache lässt sich durch schalldichte Limousinen, iPods mit Goa-Trance im Ohr und schierer Faulheit begründen, mit denen die perfekten Männer dieser Zeit gesegnet sind. Daher wurden Handys entwickelt, mit denen man berufsmäßige Helfer anrufen kann, sofern man (Frau) die Zeit dazu hat (Polizei). Somit können Hollywoodfilme getrost als unrealistisch abgestempelt werden.
