Mt Hood can be seen everywhere unlike my last image of Hood nested in Evergreen trees this is another side seen from the vast Orchards on our visit to the town of Hood River..the landscapes were gorgeous & all those fruit trees, can't wait til harvest.

Thanks for your visit, have a wonderful day!

Today is the last day of National Forest Week. I'm ending my week of posts with this view of Mt Hood on the last full day of our trip in June. It's been fun to use this week to sift through all my pictures that were taken throughout CA & OR in our beautiful forests.

Oregon Columbia Gorge Hood River, even tho the hazy clouds were arriving at dusk hiked up west cliff to see this amazing view of lush orchards & forest on a small cove finger portion of the Columbia River ..the wind was whipping holding onto a rail with a 500+ ft. drop below. Worth it to see the view!

Thanks for your visit & comments!

I have made a special effort to photograph Ruthton Point for a decade. Someday, I will get it right. I don’t know how, but the distant hills are a little out of focus. It’s possible that the depth of field scale on my lens is not entirely accurate.

I happened past Ruthton Point in Hood River, Oregon as a rare break in the clouds opened up to the west. Sunlight flooded the Columbia Gorge lke water breaking through a dam, and a rainbow appeared behind me as I fought to keep the driving rain off of the lens. I managed to get it dry enough for one of the 20 or so pictures I took.

Looking down river from Hood River, OR into the Gorge.

Near Hood River, Oregon.

Hood River, OR. The fruit trees are in blossom. But Mt. Hood, immediately behind, is obscured by clouds.

This world is a gift... the more you look for beauty the more you see...

Thank you all for sharing the gift with me!

I will be gone most of the next few days, working long shifts again....

This was my first attempt at focus stacking in Photoshop, and I'm happy to report that it worked. Next time, I will take more pictures, so that I can get the entire picture in focus, but I like it. I think it also would have helped if it was not a windy day.

I took this at Packer Orchards on Rt 35 near Odell, Oreogn. Support local businesses. Stop by if you can.

Out on Route 35 near Hood River, there’s this little place is called Pine Grove. There’s another place in Oregon with the same name, and this one isn’t called that on a map. Anyway, it has this little butte that looks like and Earth zit. It's called the Van Horn Butte. I love taking pictures of it..

I have wanted to photograph this barn for years, but the light was never right when I was there. I caught it in early April just as the sun peeked over the hills to the east, and I had my big lens along to bring it up close.

Columbia River Gorge at dawn.

2 versions today, Mt Hood at sunrise in autumn, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy holidays in advance.

Blooming Pear Orchard in Hood River with Red Barn and Mt. Hood in the background. I made it back to this location again this Spring. When I arrived this time there weren't any keep out signs posted and a few other photographers were already here taking pictures. This image was taken right after sunset. Thanks for viewing and have a nice weekend!

Evening light over Mt. Hood and the Hood River Valley.

New day and young balsamroot blooms at Rowena Crest, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon.

I'd hoped to capture this often photographed scene with the red barn and pear orchards in full bloom, but it appears the timing of my visit was about a week or two early. The blossoms were still in the very early stages of opening. I waited until just after sunset for clouds to clear from Mt. Hood & capture this image. As Always, thanks for the comments and views.

A Savannah Sparrow eating some seeds from a small composite flower.

Gorton Creek Falls, in its lush green canyon on the south side of the Columbia River Gorge, a couple of weeks before the Eagle Creek Fire swept through this area.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, filled with light and color.

With harvest season approaching, I am ploting more excursions to the Hood River Valley for locally grown fruit. The cameras will be along, of course.

I visited Oregon back in April 2014 aiming to photograph the tulip field and some wildflowers. I also stopped by at the classic scene at the barn for the first time. Sadly the flower was little bit past peak.

I have allot of keepers from this evening, but I wanted to get this one into my photostream. I liked how the blossoms from the barn and the mountain.

Spring had finally arrived in the Hood River Valley in late April. Gaia and I were at Packer Orchards to take pictures of the peach blossoms, and took advantage of a portrait background they had set up.

Douglas-Firs, Ponderosa Pines, vineyards and tall grass – I miss summertime in the hills of the Hood River Valley, which for me will always be home.

Stay safe, everyone.
