This is travelling light; four gelled speedlites, collapsible beauty dish, drawstring strip softbox, umbrella and bare flash.

That truck appears to be the 3/4 ton used for mail pickup & anything else..

those of you that know hooch (carljones71) will know that he has a motorbike for the goldies so, as I didn't have any, he sent a couple down to me on the bike and they arrived in my garden a few days later... think this one is missing hooch :)

to Carl (aka hooch) I hope you have a wonderful day... love Turner ;) x

St Patrick's Day Parade 2023; Buffalo NY

Isolated due to COVID-19, a pool party with the dogue, as a poor substitute for previously scheduled trip to the beach.

A picture of me outside of my hooch during my Vietnam tour of duty. We had built a bunker in case of mortar or rocket attacks between two hooch's and that is what I am leaning on. Looks like the sandbags could have used some upgrading. It must have been one of those very unusual days off as I am in civilian clothes. Or, I may have just had them on for the portrait. That is my Dominion Aquatics t-shirt that I took along to remind me of all the pretty girls at the pool during my life-guarding days. Around my neck is my talisman - a lava rock carving of the volcano god that I picked up on R&R in Hawaii. Directly behind me is my corner of the hooch where my room is. There are 4 rooms in the hooch. Recently, when I found this photo I realized that there is a bittersweet irony pictured here. The sand filled barrels that lined the perimeter of the hooch for our protection could possibly have been barrels that Agent Orange was stored in. These barrels are painted now but originally were not and if there was an orange stripe around the barrel - then it contained Agent Orange- the defoliant that we used to strip down the jungle. The irony is this: here the barrel is protecting my sleeping area but I also have a B cell blood cancer that is directly related to Agent Orange exposure. I finished 6 months of chemotherapy at the end of October 2017. My disease is called chronic lymphocytic leukemia and I am in Veterans Administration system for treatment.

This is the view from the microwave area looking towards the bathroom door. See the sink in the corner? That's where I wash my hands, brush my teeth, wash dishes... LOL No lighting source above the mirror! I need to get another lamp for that corner of the room.

This is my room looking towards the bed. Notice the pastelly-colored comforter. NOT ME! I like deep, rich colors, but Walmart.com only had pastelly crap for twin size beds.

A mother butters bread while her son stands beside her, his head bent in prayer over the food. He is about to depart for the school seen through the open front door and identified by the sign reading schole. A small triangular niche above the inner doorway holds several books and a candlestick, perhaps alluding to the enlightenment that education brings. A small top lying on the floor in front of the chamber doorway may refer to a Dutch proverb that states a child and a top will both fall idle unless continually "whipped."

Education and proper attitudes toward child-rearing were important issues in Protestant countries during the seventeenth century, and many paintings made during this period contain moral overtones and pious references.

Care package from home, Handi-Wipes!

I was happy to be alive and to have instant coffee. Today I made the mistake of ordering a tall coffee at Starsucks to be informed that tall is short. Maybe I should have said double-plus tall.

Pieter de Hooch worked in Delft for a few years at the same time as Johannes Vermeer. Both artists were fascinated by how to render light and space. Here, De Hooch represented a space by means of two ‘throughviews’ (glimpses through doorways or windows): one into the cellar, the other into the entrance hall. He depicted the daylight with the lightest of paint, namely pure white. He thus created the perfect illusion of an interior space.
