I don't know if this means I'm a full fledged landscape photographer yet, but I can honestly say I have gotten my "feet wet".
A couple of weeks ago a Flickr friend and fellow photographer David Frey, contacted me to let me know that he would be visiting the San Diego area around the holidays and ask if I would like to spend the day shooting Hospital Reef. Of course I jumped at the opportunity to spent some time with a higher caliber photographer than myself which always leads to more learning.
At 3:00am I packed up my gear and headed off down the freeway giving us plenty of time to scout the reef and set up. We checked the tide time and height using a fisherman's site and found that the tide level would be very high, but I wasn't sure how high up on the reef the best formations are situated. It was going to be a total crap shoot as far as tide levels go but I was confident that the weather was going to be perfect. It had rained the day before and the NWS radar that I had been watching in anticipation all week promised a great sunrise and possibly sunset. After chatting with David for a while we soon located the potholes and several other popular formations and then waited for the light as it was still totally dark.
I knew the sun would be behind us in the morning but I was hoping that we would get some good cross lighting which usually happens if it's cloudy in the west and clear in the east, which was case this morning, and it didn't disappoint.
This is a shot taken later in the day. When David and I returned for sunset. He went directly to the composition that he had found earlier in the day and planted himself there for three hours. "I'm gonna wait for the light to come to me" he said. I'm not that confident when it comes to staying put during "panic time" thats what i call the 30 minutes during sunset. I ran around to 7 or 8 different compositions during the sunset and grabbed some really cool shots. I am still learning how to manipulate time through my lens and I think I went a little to long on this shot, but considering I was using no filters I think it turned out fairly good. I hope you like it too. :)

I honestly couldn't think of a title or a song to go with this pic. It's just an idea that slowly developed when I logged in. I hopped on a pose stand, moved through some poses, found one I liked, got my hair on, found a good angle and shot it. Then I edited it and ..... I have no idea what it's about. Just me passing time, doing something I enjoy.
Hmmmm. Maybe a song I love that has nothing to do with the picture?

Finally I managed to shoot in this fabulous sim without crashing! Try yourself!
I'm not sure why but I'm not enjoying Flickr as much as I used to...I can't pinpoint why perhaps the many themes, losing contacts etc.
Anyone else feel this way?
A wee bit of time off may do the trick...

But that is not the propper way to describe somebody, that is everything all in once.
She´s that ray of sunshine on a cloudy day and she´s the sweetest medicine, when your life is bitter.

Honestly did not notice the tiny spider in the center of the smallest web in the field, until I looked closely while processing. Had I, of course I would have gone closer (not really -- afraid of ticks). My eyes must be tired after working all night.

I honestly have not seen anything like this before...Captured at Al Garden center, this vine is so beautiful.
Mandevilla is native to Central and South America. It's named for the English diplomat and amateur botanist Henry Mandeville who found this pretty, blooming vine growing in forests in Argentina in the late 1830s. He named it dipladenia and sent a sample home to England, but the plant's name was changed a few decades later to honor him.
A hidden gem most certainly and one of those places that I delight in finding. I will continue searching for more of them and hope that it encourages you to visit them too. Please leave comments in your own words.

Honestly this sweet little girl was a dream to photograph. She is a Red fox but leucistic, not albino. Blue eyes can be found in Leucistic foxes, though it is very rare.
A leucistic red fox is a result of a rare genetic condition causing a (partial) loss of pigmentation. Albino foxes lack melanin and have red or pink eyes, but a leucistic fox has normal eye colour though this little girl has bright blue eyes.

Honestly, the sunset last night was unforgettable. It was one of those that showed off every color in its palette and went on forever. I was in Dewey Beach for close to 45 minutes and the sky was still red and purple and orange when I left. I finally had to give up as my finger tips were numb and my boys were bored. We were heading out to see Christmas lights, but those displays couldn't come close to the light show nature provides!
Honestly, we didn’t have much enthusiasm for a nice safe 90 minute hike with a few stairways and ramps in Postojna Cave, so we settled for the train in and out. All these different styles suggest dramatic changes in water flow over geologic time.
