Going on two years ago I embarked on a home renovation. One of the features was to be this bay window room.. and here is the reality..
piece by piece the house is coming together
I guess could've used fill but this was a moments choice if you know how little kitties move about
my home for the last 18 months due to the home renovations which i had decided to accomplish,or became totally committed to do,,.Anyways this flic was taken before I even knew that it ( the airstream) was going to be mine. I thought I was simply helping the guy to get it weighed ....Life has many twists and complications and challenges..and in the beginning I was so busy with trying to learn carpentry (by default) I had to almost totally slack on my Flickr. .. so then for many of my Flickr -friends I virtually vanished.This may explain why I seemed to disappear.. Sorry for my unexplained absence but who knew?.. Now , I still haven't finished the project but it is whole lot less frantic ,as there are walls , decks , doors,exterior walkways and whole new roofline, new rooms and a great new kitchen and a pretty much finished interior now in the house again

While some Brush Park treasures are still deteriorating and many are gone, some are scheduled for demolition, and others are in various states of renovation. This house has a truly remarkable history that can be read in WikipediaIn brief, it was completed in 1876, Gillis sold it within 2 years, wealthy families occupied it until 1919. Then, it became a boarding house, a storefront was added, and then it becanme and stayed vacant since the mid Sixties. Somewhere along the way, a pottery business and later an auto shop operated in its carriage house, which still later became a gas station; the station was torn down and a restaurant was built in its place. The property has now been renovated and a 3 br, 3 story condo within it is for sale for $2.5M. Amazing stuff.

We have been busy creating this new counter that divides the kitchen and dining room. The old one had seen better days, so it was time to replace it.
We bought a two inch thick 'slice of tree' and kept the live edge. After much sanding, staining and many coats of Varathane, it was then attached to end supports.. my design and Bob's build.
We continued the green bead board, wood chair rail and baseboard behind the existing counter/sink and attached it with two heavy duty metal brackets for support in the middle.
On the sink side there are two rows of taupe subway tile in front of the sink. On this side it is a textured board painted taupe.

Bathroom reno from Sept. 14, 2015 (demolition day ) to Dec. 2 (substantial completion date).
The homeowner made a decision on door and drawer handles, and they were installed in January. Contemporary cabinet hardware is by Richelieu, in "nickel" finish.
The small gouge in the wall, which happened when the counter top was being slid into position, has just been repaired. Now that that is done, the construction work in this room has finally been completed (five months after it began).
The homeowner decided not to install a window blind, at least for the time being.
In this reno, everything in the bathroom was removed and replaced except the ceiling fan and the chrome-finish Progress Lighting fixture above the mirror. However, it has a different look now - it was rotated 180 degrees and the 100W incandescent bulbs were replaced with 60W LEDs. The fixture now provides a different tone of light.
Cabinet is by Redl, stained "Dark Oak"; vanity top is Bianco Carrara marble with a honed finish and square wrap edge profile. Rectangular undercounter ceramic vessel is by Ronbow; chrome faucet is from the "Fen" series by Neptune. Chrome finish towel bar and toilet paper holder are the "Urania" model by Nameeks.
The backsplash is one row of 4" x 6" glass tiles by Ames, "Elements" series, in the colour "platinum", grout is by Custom in the colour "pewter", and the metal edge profile is by Schluter, in "chrome".
Porcelain floor and wall tiles are "Arabesque" by Casa Roma, in the colour "Ice", with matte finish on the floor and semi-polished finish on the walls. Chrome shower door handle is from C. R. Laurence Co., Inc. Chrome-finish hardware inside the shower stall is by Neptune, "Fen" series.
The homeowner tested 5 different colours of paint in this room before settling on Aura "Storm" by Benjamin Moore, in matte finish. Ceiling was painted "Cloud White", also by BM, in matte finish. Oak window trim and baseboards were painted "Cloud White", in pearl finish.

We moved the toilet, installed a clawfoot tub (to replace the shower stall), put in all new tile - and rebuilt the window trim and medicine cabinet. (whew!)
