Still life at home, New Delhi, Delhi (NCT), India

Home - a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

(Alfredo Accatino)

NO DEJEN DE VERLO!!!!!!!! gracias Clara

... it was my project, to make alive the short boring corridor... i added a small pot of plant at the height... made a lamp cover, with cardboard and aluminum foil, and with a transparency of flower at the front to make the light soft… paste some flower photos on walls as a small exhibition…

… in order to capture the light from the lamp and also details, I used HDR with +/– 3 EV… and applied heavy softening and pixelization to mask the noises due to high ISO …

Our kitchen after: White subway tile backsplash to the ceiling topped with crown molding. Bun feet under sink base. Open shelving with whiteware. Beloved Domsjo farmhouse style apron sink.

i was working on a little project related to my home and breakfast in particular, so I splurged on some peonies. they are just so beautiful.

A flickr friend, blindscapes, asked me if I had seen the Documentary http://www.youtube.com/homeproject I hadn't but I did...and I hope you will too :)

It reminded me of my thoughts below that I'd written in mid May 2007, when storm surges hit many parts of our country. I was in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll at the time, one of the worst affected regions. For three days and three nights at high tide, the islands were at the mercy of the sea. The tide would just swell and flood the islands, laying waste the earth, destroying vegetation and flooding homes. The scariest was the uncertainty and fear...and yet, I was touched by the faith that people had. Which is why I wrote the following ....

"O land of mine, flower of the Indies,

Where once you were, there will remain

The empty air and winking waves,

No more the lofty palms and virgin sand,

But legends of the Divi’s forgotten bliss.

The sea, once your friend will be your foe,

Engulfing you, down deep to its floor

Your boats, your homes and splendid mosques,

Your soulful prayers and hymns of praise,

Will echo the chronicles of time and space.

O land of mine, home to a proud free race,

Of sailor men and women of grace

Your toil, your tears will reap no fruit,

No plea, no hope your abode will save,

As you succumb to nature’s forceful pace.

Here you await the encroaching tide,

In silent prayer with arms raised

Toward the heavens in helpless grief,

For the harsh north wind and endless rain,

Can never be stopped by acts of man.

O land of mine, this Maldive Child,

Called out to the world in despair

But none did heed and none did hear,

My tiny voice amid the roar

Of angry surf crashing the shore."

The main subject isn't always crystal clear. We've all encountered shots where the main subject isn't front and centre. Instead, it's tucked away in the background or gently blurred, leaving us to ponder and interpret its significance.

In those moments when the foreground takes precedence, and the main subject fades into abstraction, it's a reminder that significance isn't always about what's immediately apparent. Sometimes, it's about what lies beyond the obvious, waiting to be discovered.

jewelry-holder made out of an old window I found on the street.

steps:

1. find old window

2. break out glass with hammer (funnest step)

3. on back of frame, stretch lacey fabric or muslin, using tacks

4. install ceiling hooks, make wire loops, hang window

5. hang jewelry from fabric, or add tacks to front of frame to hold necklaces
