For Smile on Saturday's #"get nature in your home" theme

This was a labour of love. I had an idea, but working with yellows...never again!

A focus merge of 5 images.

This was intended to be bold and bright, but this final version is still quite heavily de-saturated from the original. This was an output from my third attempt over three days to get the shot I wanted, so my poor subjects were starting to look a little wilted round the edges. Let's just say: I learned a lot from this so hopefully next time will get the shot I want quicker!

Having fun creating rainbows

My first focus stack (all-be-it only of 3 images), but I'm quite pleased :-) I suspect this is one of those I learn much from but, for now, it's one of my favourites!

Now that I've worked out what all the flowers are, from left to right:

aster (I think), astrantia, geranium, and dandelion seedheads.

They were all flowers I picked from my garden intending to use for tabletop macro shots, but then forgot about... I rediscovered them recently and realised what excellent dried subjects they make, making me wistful for all the flowers that have gone for another year.

For Macro Mondays' #reflections theme

Playing with the idea of creating a reflection that looked quite different to the view from the front.

Used a paper stamp to cut out heart shapes, and sticking two different colours together. Ended up linking them together after playing but not succeeding with other scenarios.

The image needed something extra, so I processed a little more than I typically would for MM, adding some 'zoom' to give it a more stylised look (so apologies if this isn't in keeping.)

For Looking Close... on Friday!'s #candies theme

A combination of: skittles, m&ms, smarties, midget gems, gummy bears. My sons will be enjoying themselves later...!

For Looking Close on Friday!'s #autumn flora theme

I umm-ed and ahh-ed as to whether acorns are defined as flora. But this image is representative of the autumn flora I have in my garden at the moment, so I hope it is in keeping with the theme. I am drowning in acorns.

Never submitted to Sliders Sunday before, but i enjoyed the post processing process on this so my first addition for the group.

And yes, i agree, a rainbow is a little bit twee but, hey, i'm on a journey, and each time i post-process i think of a 1000 things i'd do differently next time...!

... of sprinkles

Candles Frozen in a Cupcake Case

If you burn a lot of candles, you will probably find yourself buying new ones pretty often. Here's a trick that'll make them last nearly twice as long.

Candles will last longer (almost 2X), if they are placed in the freezer for a day before using them. Chilling the wax gives it a bit longer before burning through and leaving you with an empty jar. For some candles this will also cause them to drip less and burn straight down without burning through the side of the candle.

So now you know why Im Celebrating, I have saved myself a Fortune 😊

Retro Nuts Reflected

This started from imagining the path as a river, then built on the contrasts between different textures in the original.

Trying to work out where one texture ended and the next began was quite a challenge, but all in all a fun way to start the day on a lazy Sunday morning.

CHAU MASK - INTRODUCTION

Chau dance an acrobatic martial danc e form of Purulia. It has been already enlisted in the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Huminity.Chau is indegenous part of Eastern India. It originated as a martial art and contains vigorous movements and leaps. The barren land Purulia with its tribal inhabitants and multilayered influences of vedic literature, Hinduism and Martial Folk-lore have all combined to shape the PURULIA CHAU DANCE which has only one message - The triumph of good over evil.

The Purulia Chau dancers wear large stylized masks while performing chau dance. The Chau Mask is traditionally associated with this age old dance form of Purulia, where the performers wear masks of different mythological characters and also different animals.

The masks are made from paper pulp, mud and clay. First the outline shape on the mud is created. then the ultimate shape of the muddy layer is given with the wooden structure. After drying that under the sun it is covered with the white ash dust layer before the pulp paper layering with the glue. It helps to remain separated after drying of the paper laye under the sun. The Hard paper layer with a thin mud layer on it is painted in attractive shades with the acrylic colours usually brought from the Barabazar area of Kolkata. The masks are of different shapes and sizes starting from small to large one.

At present the Mask Making Industry is not only bounded in the traditional old mask making culture for the chau dance artist. The mask making artist are now being skilled of making various size and shape masks for Ineterior Decoration. Some artist are also making masks with modern painting styles.
