A few highways, backroads, fuel stops and a quick dinner and I “Home Again” After a long drive, a few phone calls there’s nothing like the feeling of being back home again. It’s April and the leaves from fall have taken up residence in my yard mostly. The color of the sky at sunset makes the drive a bit more bearable. Thanks for viewing my work. Gratitude and Kindness rode home with me.

This is the sequel of a photo I posted two years ago, titled Home Alone, of an Eastern Screech Owl (Grey Morph) chick peeking out of a nesting hole while three of its siblings fledged and sat on a tree nearby. The scene repeated itself this year with a new set of 4 chicks; three already left the nest and were around somewhere in the park while this one seemed to be content in staying in its comfort zone a little longer. The adult male, sitting on a branch slightly above the hole, kept an eye on the youngster. Rosetta McClain Gardens, Toronto, Ontario.

This house is called "Haus Waldesruh" in German, so that could be translated as "Home Forest Peace". It is situated in Oberwäldele, Hirschegg in the Kleinwalsertal and it seems it is a 400-year-old "Walserhaus": a home built by Swiss people who crossed the Alps to start a new life over here.
Although they let holiday homes, we were not staying there but in nearby Riezlern. We passed it on our descent from the Hoher Ifen and I thought that it did look peaceful!
Animals are pretty amazing. Can you imagine surviving the winter in a pile of mud and cattails? Insane.

Cill Chriosd Manse House, Nr Broardford, Isle of Skye
I'll give you a break from Valencia for a while!
Back to March and my trip up to Skye. I met up with Skyeweasel and although the weather/tides meant Elgol was pretty pointless she was kind enough to show me a few locations I'd not shot before on the Broadford to Elgol road.
I'd seen this old manse house on a map and aerial photo and had it in mind to try to find but Louise took me straight there and we must have spent 90mins at least trying different povs and portrait v Landscape orientations. The snow on the mountains added a different feel. Several areas of rock existed to create leading lines and this was one of them.

I have lived here in the forest since 1968. Back then there was onely a small dilapidated house here, now it looks like this.
With 2 km to the nearest neighbor, we learned to take care of ourselves.
