These coats hang in the miner's pub at the museum at the Llanberis Slate Museum, Wales. They made me think of all the miners (and other labourers) who toiled long hours to support their families in often dangerous conditions & for little pay. I give them my respect & homage.

In recent years the Tower of London has really made great use of the land immediately surrounding the high walls, and this year is no exception.
Known as Superbloom, a wild-flower meadow has been created to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Several years in the planning the project included bringing in 10,000 tonnes of soil to landscape and flatten the ground, before sewing some 20 million wild-flower seeds. The sewing has been timed to generate a display in June that runs through to September.
This (and one or two other takes) was unashamedly influenced by some of Klimt's work.

On the anniversary of this death, this is a tribute to the memory of my dear friend and mentor Frank Roland-Beeneken, a theater photographer to the stages of Berlin. He died on June, 9, 2000 at the age of 71. I will forever be grateful for his friendship and his influence in my life and my photography. He taught me, when I was a teenager, how to take photographs in b/w and how to process the negatives. Around this time, while he was taking portraits of me, I took this portrait of him. He loved snapping, not viewing, through the lens!

The photo was taken in 1978 with an aalog Asahi Pentax camera and 35mm b/w negative film.

...Growing up I was enthralled with the magical worlds of Maurice Sendak. I loved the Night Kitchen and Where the Wild Things Are. This is a bit of a hodge-podge of homage, but I was struck with this idea and went for it! <3

Ceiling in the Chrysler Building lobby at 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. Spectacular art deco. The building was the "world's tallest" for all of 11 months--when the Empire State opened.
Somehow the beauty of the sunset on a winter's afternoon can rival any blue filled summer day. The light is more precious, so welcome, a delightful prayer as the evening falls.
Glynde Churchyard, East Sussex, England. On a November day, that had been gloomy up until this point.

A lovely little still life found in a Montreal cafe which pays homage to the lovely custom of coffee drinking in whatever form you prefer. Taken while I was waiting for my latte to be made. It was wonderful.

Textures are great fun to play with, yet they can be great time-wasters unless they are in the hands of the experts who have this down to a science...we all know who they are. In the meantime, we continue to learn from the best... as we diddle and dabble. :)

Ello dolls! I missed you guys...finally coming back with looks. Needed time away to get that motivation and inspiration. Anyway, I hope you all love this Japan themed look.
