Macro Mondays theme: currency
Canadian $50 features, on the front, a portrait of William Lyon Mackenzie King, the coat of arms, and a picture of the Peace Tower of the Parliament buildings.
The area surrounding the iridescent is transparent.
The Macro Mondays theme for this week is EDC, every day carry. My new permanent driver’s license arrived on Friday so it seemed an appropriate possibility. Since my bag/purse is sort of minimal, there probably won’t be a gazillion possibilities this week. (Interestingly, if you turn the hologram slightly, my initials and birth year show upon the bird’s body.)
Btw, am wondering what type of bird this depicts and if hologram caused you to look at your license to see if yours has a hologram?

This Christmas bauble was hand beaded with sequins and pins by me. I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year. In this case they are for a friend, who like me, elects red as her favourite colour, but also likes gold, white, black and silver accents for her tree.
Each bauble is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins in this bauble are 5mm in diameter, except the stars which are 10mm. Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble. I always leave the stars until last, allowing a gap in the sequin chain to pin them in. Star sequins are notorious for getting caught on clothes, which then bend the points.
These baubles are smaller than some others I do, and because it is a simple pattern which starts from the inside and is worked outwards in ever larger circles, each bauble takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours per side.
It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.

When I approached my coffee machine this morning, I saw these layered shadows displayed in front of the machine. Even though the shadows had depth, tonality and wonderful form, they were displayed on a flat surface, in only 2 dimensions. I felt as if I was viewing a hologram. Of course, my camera came to hand and eye.

I was just messing about with various ways of incorporating the wheel cover piece and came up with this :) What do you think?

Jack White's second solo album, "Lazaretto" (2014), on Third Man Records.
Normally I would describe the great music on an album. This album has that, no doubt, from the wonderful riff in the title song, to Lillie Mae Rische's beautiful fiddle and background vocals on "Temporary Ground," to the powerful drumming of Carla Azar. A little side note, I bought this album at Third Man Records (Jack White's store) in Nashville, and on the same trip with my sister, saw Lillie Mae Rische performing at Layla's on Broadway. She is so talented, and Jack brought her on tour with him on his first tour. You can see my photo of her here:

Now, the reason this album is so awesome and unique starts with this photo. In the dead wax area of Side One, there is a hand-etched hologram of an angel, and it appears when you shine a light in that area and view it from the correct angle while the record plays. The hologram was created by artist Tristan Duke.
This album has many other firsts on it. Side One begins at the inside of the record and plays outward, the opposite way a normal LP would be. If you play it the normal direction, you would find a locked groove on the outer edge, and it would play forever.
Side Two has a matte finish to it, compared to the normal glossy/shiny finish on Side One. The song "Just One Drink" contains two separate intros (electric and acoustic), depending on where you drop the needle. A first of it's kind. And on both sides, there are hidden tracks in the labels, with Side One's being 78rpm, and Side Two's at 45rpm, making this vinyl LP the first three-speed record ever made.
The vinyl version of this album has a different running order compared to the digital and CD versions. It was recorded on analog tape, and the edge of the record is flat, not sharp like a normal LP. So many interesting things to see and experiment with on this album, and it has the usual great mix of songs by a true artist. If you have the chance to see him in concert, go. It will be an experience to remember.
R2-P2 aka R2-Poop-2, when I saw the legend in Brickjournal (peices made of other pieces) I instantly knew his name. In order to make him I had to make 1x3 bricks out of 1x1 plates and 1x2 plates....etc etc.....
I remember back in the day Jem would play on the USA network in the mornings and I would be mesmerized by her. She was so cool. And I loved singing along to her songs.
A hologram was a three-dimensional visual projection of an object or data, most commonly including maps, technical plans or other information. The type and quality of the holographic image projected varied widely, and holograms could be static or moving, live or recorded, with or without sound, large or small, and colored or monochrome. Many of these attributes were determined by the quality of the original recording or broadcast, as well as the holoprojector being used to display it.
Holograms were used for many different purposes, including entertainment, military planning, or political speeches, and as such touched the lives of nearly every being in the galaxy. Members of the Jedi High Council dispatched to missions on remote worlds could regularly participate in Council meetings held at the Jedi Temple by appearing as holograms.
